Last week I had the privilege of meeting with prayer leaders
from over two dozen states. Coordinated by Chris Schofield (North American
Mission Board), John Franklin (LifeWay Christian Resources) and Randy Sprinkle
(International Mission Board), we were powerfully reminded of the need to teach
and equip for kingdom praying.
Kingdom praying enables believers to take their prayer focus off of their own
needs and to move beyond the problems of the congregation to neighbors and
nations. I am convinced that the more American congregations make the
"sacrifice" of praying for other needs and other nations, the more revival and
awakening we'll see at home.
Thank you for praying and inviting others to travel the globe in prayer,
Pastor Phil

On June 22, Dr. Alvin VanderGriend had the opportunity to present the Lighthouse
concept to some 1,500 members of a lay-renewal group called Marburger-Kreis in
Wurzburg, Germany. These believers are members of small groups who want to
bring biblical renewal and a passion for prayer-evangelism to their churches and
communities. On June 25 he will make a presentation to the Lausanne Movement
Group in Germany - a group of evangelical leaders similar to the Mission America
Coalition - in order to "bring the Lighthouse Movement to Germany" (their
words). Pray for strength and direction, that he will be able to do this
effectively "through Christ who strengthens me." We praise the Lord for these
exciting opportunities! Pray with us that God will use Alvin to encourage our
Christian brothers and sisters in Germany - and throughout the world!

"The more you pray the more you want to pray, and the less you pray
the less you want to pray." (Leonard Ravenhill)
---
In our last edition we requested prayer for the Kalachakra for World Peace,
a key initiation rite into Tibetan Buddhism that the Dalai Lama is
performing in Graz, Austria, this week, October 11-23. According to church
leaders in Austria and Germany the Dalai Lama wants to make Graz the pillar
of a bridge for Buddhism into the Western world.
Christians in Graz are on the alert and are holding several strategic
prayer and worship meetings. Franz Lippi, one of the pastors and prayer
leaders in Graz writes:
"This weekend the Holy Spirit pointed me to a strategy to implement in this
battle. It is a strategy the Lord gave to Joshua in conquering the city of
Ai (Joshua 8). The Dalai Lama has assembled many of his key lamas in Graz
in order to establish a big Buddhist altar in an for Europe. The basic Ai
strategy was that Joshua took a certain smaller portion of his army aside,
engaged the army of Ai in a main battle and while the engagement still went
on, a certain portion of his army went into the city of Ai, took it and set
the houses on fire."
"Now what I believe the Holy Spirit was pointing out to me is this: While
we are engaging with the spirits and strongholds presently operating behind
the Dalai Lama in Graz, we need to have reinforcements from the global
prayer army in each of their regional areas of the world. If possible set
aside a specific small portion of battle-hardened intercessors under the
leadership of local, on the scene, Eph. 4 ministries. This small prayer
army should target their prayers at local Buddhist temples (especially the
main national Buddhist temples), setting their houses on fire in the Spirit
(and in the Spirit ONLY). In doing so we will together cut off the spirit
power supply for the lamas that have assembled in Graz to perform the
Kalachakra. They will have 'confusion and distractions' come as like in the
attack on Ai."
"I sense this prayer strategy against Buddhist temples and spirits should
start on Friday October 18th. This is the day that the preparation ends and
the initiation begins and should continue until the end of the initiation
on Wednesday October 23rd. I feel that this timing will effectively shut off
any ability for them to regroup. I ask that you take this strategy before
the Lord and seek Him for a witness in the Spirit. We want to walk in
biblical unity with the Body of Christ to see God's purposes fulfilled in
these days, not just here in Graz, but around the world. As the Lord speaks
to you, please respond to <lippi.franz@crossnet.at> so we are aware of
those who are standing with us in this battle."

The power of business to disciple nations
19th - 24th January 2003, Thailand
Dear Friend
Everywhere I go, I talk to YWAMers influencing business people and being
influenced by them. Business is rapidly becoming recognised as one of the most
strategic tools for ministry within the missions community. At the same time
many business people are asking what more they can do with the gifts that God
has given them in business. The Christian business community is already engaging
with mission in small numbers, but thousands more are eager to get involved.
There is an open door for doing business in almost every nation and business
activity can have a powerful impact as we seek to disciple nations.
I believe we are at the beginning of a major new missions movement. People such
as Sharon Swarr, Ted Yamamori and others, both inside and outside of YWAM have
recognised this over the past few years. The vision for business as mission is
multiplying globally and I believe we are on the verge of seeing a powerful
force for mission fully released.
I believe that God wants YWAM to serve this movement, to serve business people
and missionaries that have a vision for both business and mission. There is
quite a lot we need to learn and many resources yet to put in place. We have
some great working examples amongst us, also some failures and frustrations and
some important lessons to be learnt. Within YWAM there are questions surrounding
if or how a YWAM base or staff member can be involved in business and some
guidelines that we need in place to help us engage effectively. For business
people there are questions about how best to pursue a call to business with
Kingdom objectives and obstacles and opportunities to be faced.
This Consultation is for both mission staff and business people. The event will
primarily be a consultation in nature – consulting with one another, sharing
experiences, examining models, receiving foundational teaching and discussing
the issues. There will be a focus on worship and intercession for the nations.
It is a unique opportunity to gather and to share with one another and look for
ways to partner strategically and increase the momentum for a ‘business as
mission’ movement. Don’t miss it!

registration forms.

Please have your say about issues you would like addressed and start the
discussion process at the YWAM Business as Mission Consultation discussion forum
on www.scruples.net –
find it at the bottom of the topics menu. This forum will be used to post
updates from the event and consultation outcomes.
Would you please also give a moment to think about those in your personal

Mission and to forward this information on to those people. Thank you.

Would you be kind to publish for us this short mission trip information. We will
go back to Haiti to preach and do home visitations and feed the hungry. We do
that every year with in mind the desire to open a center to feed children with
no support whatsoever. Last year in November 2001, we have brought 168 new
converts to Christ as Haiti is now open to the Gospel better than ever before
due to misery, famine and political situation. Please, look at the possibility
to help us to get enough to feed at least 1000 people this year and attract
people to come and have the chance to lead at least 250 to the Lord Jesus. Would
you happen to figure a way that I could benefit some Jesus videos, Bibles in
Creole or French that I can use for evangelism purposes down there?

>From: "ANS Story" <ANS_Story@sheperd.com>
>By Michael Ireland
BELFAST, NORTHERN IRELAND (ANS) -- About a dozen members of New Life Ministries
Ireland, run by Pastor Jack McKee, prayed on the steps outside Stormont, the
Northern Ireland Assembly, October 14 as political power returned to the Houses
of Parliament in London.
"Today the Northern Ireland Assembly was suspended by the British Government.
The main reason being that the IRA continue with their threat and actual
violence against many within our nation. We now have direct rule from the
British Government in Westminster," Rev. McKee told ASSIST News Service.
"We held our prayer vigil at the Assembly Building today from 9 - 12 noon. We
were not ignored! In fact we were approached by quite a number of TV crews and
photojournalists, etc.," McKee said.
McKee added: "We were also approached by a number of the political leaders,
including Sinn Fein/IRA who thanked us for being there and for praying for them.
In the midst of all the mayhem today we did get a look-in on the main TV
channels here in Northern Ireland. We have certainly been a witness to our
nation today."
Late last week McKee told ANS: "Politically this will have its drawbacks, but we
do not quite know what it will mean for the 'Peace Process.' If people are as
committed to peace as they have been claiming, then the peace process will
continue, but with the burden of political stalemate."
At that time, McKee said: "Basically, because all the parties that signed up to
the Good Friday Agreement of 1998 agreed to work within a framework of
exclusively peaceful means. This has not been adhered to by Sinn Fein/IRA. The
IRA are still involved in gunrunning, International terrorism, murders and
punishment beatings in Northern Ireland. It was finally brought to a head
Friday, October 4 when some of those connected with Sinn Fein/IRA were arrested
and are being charged with very serious charges, including someone who is
alleged to have been gathering very sensitive information within the Northern
Ireland Office and allegedly passing the same on to IRA terrorists. This
information allegedly contains personal details of thousands of Prison Officers
and Police Officers."
He added: "I think it simply means that we return to a form Direct Rule from
Westminster until the local parties can get beyond their present stalemate,
although this might not happen until fresh elections have been held. It does not
affect Christians anymore than it does everyone else. It makes the future more
uncertain and perhaps more dangerous for all of us in that a political vacuum
can present the terrorists with an excuse to return to doing what they do best!"
McKee also said: "I believe that not only have the politicians failed our
people, but so too has the church. For years it has not given a proper lead or
been the voice of the prophet to the nation. Any individual who tries to fill
this roll, even informally, runs the risk of being misunderstood and ridiculed,
even by the church. I do not try to give leadership to the church in general,
but I do seek to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in my life that has
caused me to be more public than others, e.g. this year I did a 40 Day Cross
Walk through the Shankill and Falls Roads of Belfast -- check our web site (
www.newlifeministriesireland.co.uk )."
McKee said he and others from his Belfast-based ministry felt challenged to take
their prayers to the present seat of political power in Northern Ireland. He
said about a dozen would be at Stormont, the Northern Ireland Assembly, to stand
on the steps of the government building. Each of them prayed quietly for all the
leaders of the various political groups, holding placards that said "We are
praying for......"
Earlier this spring, Rev. McKee carried a 20-foot cross on a 40-day peace walk
throughout the troubled areas of the Falls Road and the Shankill Road of
Belfast, Northern Ireland.

I write because of the urgency and urgent need of good speakers. Le me explain.
We have over 2000 workers in 21 states of India, Nepal and Bhutan. And we have
pastor's seminar every month but we have no good teachers coming to us.
We have three types of Pastors seminars -
A. Pastors seminar every month in the rural area where the brothers
are working. This will be for 3 to 5 days - depending on the availability
of a speaker. If we have no speaker or an ordinary speaker - we will have
it for 3 days. But if we have a seasoned speaker - we will have it for 4
days. But if the speaker is very good and is willing to give more time for
the workers - we will have it for five days. There will be 100 or more
workers. (The accommodation facility for the speaker will be limited with
an ordinary room with bathroom attached and food provided by our local
Senior pastor)
B. A pastors' seminar in a large city (which will cost more money)
with good facility for the conference. There will be 250 or more workers
and church elders. (The speaker can stay in a good hotel).
C. Annual pastors seminar for a state. There will be 700 - 1200
ministers and elders of the local churches for the daytime meeting and 1500
or more people for the evening meeting that is open for all. This will be
in a major city of that state. But the speakers must be very seasoned
motivators and cover faith and holiness with the motto, "Make every
minister a motivator and firebrand with faith."
We also have a leaders meeting in the last week of February or first week
of March in Delhi where 100 plus IET leaders from every state and division
will come for five days of Bible class. We invite top-level teachers who
have the experience of speaking to key leaders t build their leadership
quality, faith and desire to be people of character.
We are praying that God may send good Bible teachers and motivators to us
so that our ministers will be uplifted in their faith and make them better
leaders.
Finally, have you visited our web page that is updated recently? Please do.

Yours to count on to see India is evangelised in our lifetime. No one can
do it alone. But together we can do it. Let us do it, P G Vargis

South Africa will host a gathering of prayer leaders from around the world. In
preparation for that gathering, teams of local intercessors will be praying at
strategic sites throughout that nation. I am copying below two letters - the
first from Bennie Mostert (Managing Director of the Jericho Walls International
Prayer Network in South Africa) and the other by John Robb (World Vision
International). After 9 years of repentance in the nation, the leadership there
sense it is God's time to deal with these powers.
Blessings, Chuck D. Pierce

intercessors internationally, will pray through unholy covenants and curses over
the last +350 years. 22 Teams will go to various places in the country to pray
and deal with those covenants and cures of the past. Pray for protection of the
teams, pray for divine revelation, pray for God to have mercy on South Africa
and pray that God will come and bring deliverance for South Africa. Pray for
revival in South Africa and a missions awakening. Bennie Mostert

Dear Friends,
This November (12-17) in Cape Town, South Africa, the International Prayer
Leaders Consultation will bring together approximately 300 prayer leaders from
every region of the world to build links and to hear from the Lord and one
another about the most significant matters on which the prayer movement needs to
focus for the future. We will listen to what God is doing through the growing
prayer movement in each region of the world and celebrate His wonders together.
We will establish an ongoing international network of prayer leaders and
ministries for global intercession.
As part of the preparation for the International Prayer Leaders Consultation
to be held in South Africa next month, 22 teams of local intercessors supported
by an international team of 10 prayer leaders (including myself) will pray at
strategic sites throughout the nation for spiritual deliverance. Here is a
note (slightly edited) from one of the South African prayer leaders who asks us
to pray for her nation:
"Deliverance of a nation always begins with repentance and a turning from their
wicked ways. South Africa as a nation has not turned from their wicked ways yet,
because many people, including some past and present leaders of the government
who keep on drawing powers from spiritual forces other than the Holy Spirit sent
by the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ. Next week some 22 teams will visit
sites where covenants were made with spiritual forces, repent of these unholy
covenants, and cancel them in the Name of Jesus Christ. What will follow next is
an eviction notice to the spiritual forces that are still keeping people in
bondage.
1. Please pray for the protection of the teams and our families, for the Lord to
equip us for the battle, that He will give the battle strategy and secure the
victory on our behalf.
2. Pray that the awful bloodshed (70 per day dying in violent crime) will be
brought under control through a changed spiritual atmosphere and effective
action by authorities. Most of the violence still occurs in Natal where in past
history Shaka, a violent warlord of the Zulu tribe, made covenants with evil
spiritual powers and then massacred the other tribes in the region.
2. Pray with us that the Lord will set South Africa free to respond to the Holy
Spirit, to become obedient to God's ways and to fulfill the destiny of this
nation, so that the nations of the world will know that Jesus Christ is Lord."
Thanks for your faithful support in this way. May God's transformation happen in
this, one of the most influential nations in Africa and the world, John Robb

ADVANCE!
Praying for the unreached, persecuted, and oppressed
World population will increase by one-third to 9 billion people by
2050, with 60 percent -- more than 5 billion people -- living in Asia,
according to one projection. Christian workers ask us to pray that
Christians in Asia will be divinely empowered to carry the gospel to
the lost masses and that God would call out many more workers to
fulfill the Great Commission in this most strategic of mission fields.
The Muslim governor of northern Nigeria's Zamfara state announced that
all residents -- including Christians -- must begin using the Arabic
language or face the consequences. The governor said he wanted to
enhance the Islamic faith among the people, regardless of their
religious persuasion. Islam's strict "Sharia" legal code has been
enforced on the state's residents since 1999. Ask God to stand beside
Christians in northern Nigeria, encouraging and strengthening them for
the trials they face. Pray that God's spirit would break loose in power
in northern Nigeria and draw multitudes of Muslims to himself.
Each September, members of India's Telugu people group celebrate Ganesh
Chaturthi, the birth of the elephant-headed Hindu god. He is also known
as Ganapati (lord of all beings) and Vinayaka (supreme leader) and is
worshipped at the start of a journey or enterprise. The festival lasts
seven to 10 days, during which time children wander from shop to shop
to find their favorite Ganesha idol to take home and place in a
specially decorated place. On the last day of the festival, a large
idol is paraded through the streets and thrown into the local body of
water. Stand in prayer against dark powers that deceive Hindus into
worshiping unworthy spirits. Pray that Creator God's glory would be
revealed among the Telugu.
As many as 5 million baby girls in India are aborted every year and
thousands of others are murdered after birth, according to recent
research. Mothers are forced by husbands and family to abort baby girls
for both religious and financial reasons. Hinduism teaches that the
soul of a parent achieves nirvana (freedom from material life) only if
a son is born. Poor rural families also are often unable to pay the
large dowry required for a daughter's marriage. In addition, care of
elderly parents is a son's responsibility. Parents will go to any
length to have a male child, and the birth of a second or third
daughter is often greeted with the kind of grief associated with a
death in the family. Cry out to God over the slaughter of these
innocents. Thank him that he is their father and covers them with his
love. Ask God to break the deceptions that cause baby girls to be
despised and cast aside.
About 30 believers among the Arabs of Sudan were trained in evangelism
and outreach. The following week, each traveled out to a former war
zone to share the good news of salvation in Jesus. Praise God for
helping these believers understand the urgent need for gospel witness
among the Arabs of Sudan. Join Christian workers in Sudan in praying
that these believers would continue to practice what they had learned
and that the seeds planted by their witness will grow and produce a
bountiful harvest. Learn more <http://www.sudan101.com/> about the Arabs of
Sudan.
Members of a church in the Seychelles Islands conducted a prayerwalk in
the capital city of Victoria. Youth then shared gospel tracts with
people on the street, and in just a couple of hours more than 30 people
prayed to receive Christ. At an outdoor showing of the JESUS film in
Creole, 50 of the 200 people attending accepted Christ. Church members
hope to involve the new believers in a Bible study, with mentors coming
from two Alpha study groups and three home-based congregations
sponsored by the church. Glorify God for drawing these 80 new believers
to himself. Ask him to preserve them and mature them as multiplying
disciplemakers.

Thank you for your prayers while I was in India. I always come away from
such visits with a profound sense of gratitude for the incredible work
being carried on there by individuals of great faith. These are quality
men and women who have consistently put their lives on the line to take
the good news of Christ to places where his love is not known.
The growth of the work of Gospel for Asia is absolutely amazing, and I
am humbled to be able to every so often add my small contribution to the
remarkable efforts going on there. Our classes were received eagerly,
and we were thanked time and again for what we taught.
We arrived home Monday evening, tired but spiritually refreshed. Please
continue to pray for us this week as we work out final details on the
Mainstay conferences, which begin on September 24.
God's best to you in the good work you do as well, David R. Mains

A missions leader for a West African country embroiled in a civil war for more
than 10 years says fasting and prayer has saved the nation. James Cuffee,
director of the 2,000-member Christ Evangelical Fellowship Ministries in
Liberia, told Christian Aid Mission (CAM) that his country was spared further
devastation by a united prayer gathering earlier this year when all the churches
closed their doors for three days of fasting and prayer.

Thank you very much for your continious NPPN reports and the materials you send.
Brother it is my vision that we convene a pastors' Prayer Retreat for one day
where we can have an opportunity also of sharing, praying together and possibly
launch NPPN Kenya - Pastor James Onyango Owuor

Greetings in the name of our Jesus Christ ! thank you so much for the sample
copy of the National Pastor Prayer Network. I have already shared with some
Pastors, prayer, leaders and intercessors about your ministry. I am a pastor
and director of an evangelistic ministry called world Revival evangelistic
ministries(WOREM) based here in Eldoret, Kenya. I also direct an orphanage
called Jireh children Centre and I am crucial official of the alliance of
pastors in our city. I am more involved in evangelism and as you know evangelism
go together with prayers. I'd like to be a member of the National Pastors
Prayers Network as we need alot of prayers in our young ministry. Please give me
further information and updates. We have been praying about starting a prayer
network in our city and country for pastors and intercessors and your E-mail was
a motivation and clear indication that it is the right time to do so. God brings
things in His own appointed time!
I believe the Lord is still urging the church to pray as the Bible says in
1Chronicles 7:14 In these last days we need to look for new ways through which
we can pray more effectively I pray that your ministry will grow to comprise of
International pastors' prayer networks, Continental and National prayer
networks in all countries of the world. It is also our prayer that you will
connect as with other ministries and pastors across the world with a burden for
prayer and evangelism to partner with us. You will agree with me that evangelism
is the greatest need the church has today to fulfill the Great commission and
evangelism cannot be separated from prayer!.
In the city where we are based the Lord has enabled us to hold city-wide
crusades and even in January we had a crusade with David Gallagher of Luis
Palau evangelistic association from Portland, Oregon during which we had a
pastor's conference attended by about a thousand pastors from Eldoret city and
its outskirts. I was the co-odinator of the crusade organized through our
alliance of pastor in our city and pastors have been asking me to co-ordinate
yet another prayer conference for pastors, intercessors and church leaders due
to the great need for our leader to be taught on the importance of prayer. We
therefore feel the Lord is leading us to invite you to a prayer conference /
summit in this city... During the conference you can also explain personally to
pastors, leaders and intercessor what the national pastor's prayer network is
involved with in details. God bless you richly as you do His work faithfully. I
will share with as many pastors and leaders as possible about your ministry.
Know that there are people who are praying for you over here
