Experiencing God: Knowing and Doing the Will of God
* Have you ever felt like you take the Lord's Supper or Communion too
casually?
* Has it become merely a tradition?
* Have you ever wanted to guide your people to prepare to partake in a more
worthy manner?
* Does your church need to return to their first love for Christ and to holy
living?
This 112 page workbook guides members to remember what Christ did on the cross
to provide a remedy for sin and to rekindle in their hearts a first love for
their wounded Savior. It guides them to examine their lives and relationships to
get right with God and others so that they can partake of the Lord's Table in a
worthy manner. Use the built-in pastor's guide to lead your church in a
celebration of the Lord's Table as a sacred assembly of the church.
by Claude King, coauthor of Experiencing God: Knowing and
Doing the Will of God
Before ascending into heaven Jesus gave one Final Command (Great Commission)
to His disciples that He restated in a number of ways to assure that they would
not forget. Yet today most of our church members have no involvement in making
disciples or being His witnesses. This 112 page workbook provides seven steps to
help every member find his or her place in the harvest fields and begin obeying
the Final Command together with the rest of the Body of Christ. Leader's
material is included for small groups or church-wide use. Mobilize your entire
congregation for obedience to the Final Command.
Come to the Lord's Table and Final Command Action
Manual are available in bulk quantities at highly discounted prices so you
can provide every member a copy of the book inexpensively. Use the order form
below and a portion of your purchase will be given to the National Pastor's
Prayer Network to support and further their ministry to the Kingdom. If you want
to order on the Internet or using a credit card for payment go to

And take comfort in knowing many of you
are praying for us!
Here’ some of the latest --
€ Jennie & JJ have safely arrived in Zambia and, after a week of orientation in
Lusaka (the nation’s capitol), should be on their way to Mukinge where they will
serve for the next eleven months. *Pray, please, thanking the Lord for
safe travel and entry to Zambia plus asking for good health and smooth
adjustments to their new living and teaching circumstances.
€Jorie and Tim are in Chicago for a wedding this weekend. We fly back with them
(in shifts) to spend the next two weeks at their home in California. *Pray
for a balance of vacation and work (Phil has several ministry opportunities
while in CA).
€Carol has completed her last school year as director and is training the new
director throughout the summer months. As of Labor Day, she becomes an official
partner with Phil in Prayer INC. *Pray for Carol’s own transition from
a 20 year shepherding ministry with children to, initially, an administrative
focus with our ministry.
€ Phil has been invited to serve on several strategic planning teams recently
and has new ministry opportunities. *Pray for humility and purity,
and, when he is the lead, grace to facilitate and wisdom to guide the process:
-Consulting with several churches of influence on how to develop strategic
prayer ministries
-Promoting the 9/11 Remembrance Anniversary Church Services
(www.911remembrance.com)
-Preaching at Hillcrest Church, Country Club Hills, IL: July 21 & 28
-Leading a prayerwalk in Chicago for a volunteer mission team from
Springfield, August 1
-Attending a city/suburban partnership meeting in Chicago, August 3

from over 100 cities) (planning team meets in NYC, August 21)
-Citywide Prayer Leaders Consultation: August 25-27, New York City, Planning
Team (Prayer Leaders from across the country)
-Invited back to facilitate prayer at the Zion, IL Mayor’s Labor Day Prayer
Breakfast (several hundred attend and pray!)
-Mission America Annual Meeting: October 23-25, Dallas, Planning Team Leader
(this coalition represents 80 denominations, 75 ministry networks and 300+
national ministry organizations)
-City Impact Roundtable: October 23-25, Dallas, Convener & Planning Team
Leader (100 city leaders from coast to coast)
-Plus ... the ongoing opportunities to serve with Elgin House of Prayer, New
Work Development Team (church planting), and as a National Facilitator of the
Cities and Communities Team of Mission America
€ Our financial update: The Lord has graciously and abundantly supplied over
this first year of raising our own support. The combination of several large
grants and gifts as we began ($5,000; $19,000; and $20,000) along with an
ongoing consulting contract, honoraria, and the monthly support of a few
ministry friends has sustained us over the past twelve months. *Pray
blessings to those who have given so faithfully to us - *Pray that
God will prompt others to give large grants again this year - *Pray
for several churches that will begin to support us on a monthly basis -
*Pray for the organization that administrates our funds; their financial
difficulties have made our current funds temporarily inaccessible to us (we may
have to use personal savings to cover the next few paychecks) - *Pray
for new supporters to join us quickly...
Thanks for caring and for praying!
Let us know how we can pray for you,

* "My testimony is something that I could only learn in this place. God
has touched my heart to be able to see the need of the other people and to be
able to help in their spiritual life. I was also able to discover something
about my life in these days. God dealt with part of my life that is to have a
gentle spirit. I was able to discover that many times I have not had this
inside of me but now I ask God to bring to my life a gentle spirit."
* "During the summit I have received much blessing from God, my life has
been restored by His presence. Then for me this word that I received that
although I read little of the word of God, it always cleans me. Another thing
that impacted me is that we have to learn to listen to our Love. My soul was
healed and now I know that I am something precious to God. And I thank God for
you who brought the word and blessing."
* "I was blind. I had been so accustomed to the blessing of God that I
could no longer esteem it, nor His care, nor His love, nor His presence. I had
come to the point where all I gave was by works. In the moments that I have had
alone with Him and listening to my sisters my eyes were opened newly to see how
blessed I am and to contemplate and esteem Him. In the last months I have been
so hurried that I had so little time to be with the Lord. Today I am anxious to
return home and live in a different
way."
* "The Lord has helped my life in the sense that He has cleared my
thoughts about who I am and what I mean to Him. The writing of petitions since
the first day of the meeting and unloading on the piece of paper what we were
hoping God would do helped me have a clearer vision of what I hope God will do
with me. I feel lighter; the burden I was feeling in myself and a new hope or
perspective of my life. Thanks to Him."

>From 9 to 18 May, from Ascension Day to Pentecost, over 28,000 Christians
prayed for the Netherlands. The highlights:
- a start has been made to establish 'prayer altars' in all 500 cities and
communities in the country;
- the lordship of Christ has been proclaimed from the four corners of the
nation;
- the leaders of all political parties received a copy of Transformations II as
a present of the Dutch prayer movement;
- a team of intercessors from Uganda prayed all over the nation and taught
Christians to pray more passionately and effectively;
- the Parliamentary Elections of May 15 brought an overwhelming victory for the
Christian Democrats, causing even more embarrassment to the liberal government.

Eddie and I just returned from our fourth trip to Hong Kong. Although Hong
Kong has been a part of Mainland China since 1999, the strong will and
industrious mindset of these people have kept them still on the cutting edge of
what God wants to do through them for the nations.
Eddie taught each day from 9:00-5:00 to over 100 pastors from Kowloon, Hong
Kong Island, the New Territories and Lantau. But we also had participants from
Pakistan, Singapore, Macau, and Uzbekistan. It was a thrill to see God teaching
these key leaders about purpose-driven prayer, informed intercession, relational
and city reaching strategies. Imagine their delight when Eddie introduced them
to www.e-sword.net, the
best free Bible-study and research software available on the Internet. We use it
for our personal study and our writing and teaching. Not only did Eddie show
them, using a video projector, how to use the program, but he provided them with
the entire system complete with a Chinese language Bible. Our host then burned
the program on CD’s and offered the pastors a free copy. The joy of the moment
will be long remembered.
Each night I taught the public. Many people experienced deliverance and new
levels of personal freedom. Around 12 people received Christ as their personal
Savior. The week was fruitful and we were invited back for a fifth visit. Please
pray with us that we will bless the nations. Source: Alice Smith, U.S. Prayer

>Reply-To: "Religion Today Summaries" <newssummaries.UM.A.3.41962@lists.crosswalk.com>
(ASSIST News Service) -- Protestant Christians in Belarus on June 17 ended an
intensive weekend of praying and fasting the adoption of a restrictive new
religion bill in the former Soviet Republic. "If this law passes its second
reading and is signed by the country's president, many of our congregations will
run up against great difficulties in passing the obligatory re-registration,"
leaders of four denominations were quoted as saying by Keston News Service (KNS).
Bishop Nikolai Sinkovets of the Baptist Union, Bishop Sergei Khomich of the
Pentecostal Union, Aleksandr Sakovich of the Full Gospel Association and Moisei
Ostrovsky of the Adventist Church said the "law does not meet international
norms." The bishops cited several articles as an attack on the area of freedom
of conscience and religion. They supported the Minsk-based Freedom of Conscience
Information Center, which urged believers to "pray at every service" and to hold
"days of fasting" against the current version of the law on freedom of
conscience and religious organizations.
KNS, which monitors religious persecution, said he draft of the religion bill
includes a provision specifically recognizing the Orthodox Church as having a
preeminent role. The draft law also requires that religious groups have to have
had 10 registered religious congregations in 1982, at the height of Soviet
restrictions on religion. Analysts say it appears that only the Orthodox, the
Catholics and the main Jewish organization will thus be able to gain
re-registration. (By Stefan J. Bos)

A number of prayer coordinators and some additional church leaders met with our
team (in April) in Port au Prince to assess what has happened since last year's
prayer initiative. We were encouraged to hear how the coordinators have
continued to meet together every three months and are actively mobilizing and
connecting believers from all denominations in their respective regions.
Indeed it was reported that the prayer movement that began with last year's
initiative is the only ministry effort with the participation of diverse
denominations that is still working in the nation! Before this initiative most
Christian leaders did not work together. Reconciliation has occurred and now in
many of the regions they have united to pray for the nation.
In one area, nearly 10,000 from different churches gathered in the city square
and launched a prayer movement for their city. In other places, members of the
upper class, including business and political people, have become interested,
often with great zeal. One group went to President Aristide and asked for a
national day of prayer. They have formed a national commission of prayer and are
in the process of organizing for this purpose. Political people have become
involved in this process as well.
A church leader who was attending last week's consultation and had not had prior
involvement with the prayer initiative exclaimed: " I'm new but want to
participate in the deliverance of Haiti by getting pastors together to pray!"
Let's rejoice that God is hearing our prayers and theirs. Here are some
continuing prayer concerns:
1. The economic situation is perilous? the cost of living is very high, no
national economic plan, high unemployment, businesses closing down and afraid to
invest, rural people not able to produce.
2. The scourge of drugs and corruption? moral and cultural values of the
society are being ruined. People don't feel guilty cheating and stealing in
every social sphere including the church.
3. Violence and crime? Chimere is a group of violent anarchists that carry
out random acts of violence and kidnapping and sow constant fear in the people.
Some think they are working for the current government. Agree with us that they
will be dissolved and put out of operation.
4. There is still a lack of trust between some church leaders making them
unwilling to listen and submit to one another. Many lack commitment or heart to
pray for a nation that has given them so little. They would rather immigrate if
given the chance.
5. World Vision and the prayer coordinators aim to establish a network of
prayer cells throughout the nation until Haiti is transformed and becomes a
"watered garden" (Isaiah 58:11). Pray for their ongoing encouragement,
protection, continued unity and for the overcoming of the transportation and
communication challenges they face in a nation where there is so little working
infrastructure.
We have been reminded ... that "resurrection power works best in a graveyard."
May the Haitian believers be filled with faith to experience this kind of power
for the transformation of their land. Thanks for your prayers to this end.

KATHMANDU (UCAN) -- A recent government census in Nepal shows that Christians
comprise less than half a percent of the population, a figure disputed by some
Christian leaders.
According to the census results, released April 17 by the Central Bureau of
Statistics, Nepal's population as of mid-2001 was 23.1 million. Of these, 80.6
percent were Hindus, 10.7 were Buddhists and 4.2 percent were Muslims. Kirati
hill tribe peoples comprised 3.6 percent while Christians were 0.45 percent of
the population, according to the census.
However, pastor Reverend Isu Jung Karki [the church at kathmandu] said the
figure for Christians is too low. "This is not correct (and) I have written a
letter of protest," he told UCA News. According to him, Christians comprise at
least 2 percent of the population.
Pastor Simon Pandey, secretary of the National Churches Fellowship of Nepal,
told UCA News April 19, "I believe that there are 500,000 Christians in Nepal
today." Both pastors, however, admitted that most of the Christians in Nepal
joined the faith only in the last 10 years. Monsignor Anthony Sharma, apostolic
prefect of Nepal, cited Church statistics showing that there are 6,195 Catholics
in Nepal.
Christians were not the only ones who were skeptical of the census figures.
Muslims, who gathered April 20 for a program to discuss problems faced by the
community, said that there are about 2.5 million Muslims in Nepal.
Monsignor Sharma also disagreed with the figure for Kirati people. Citing
research done by local NGOs, he said tribals, including Kirati people, could
account for up to half the country's population. A Nepal Jesuit researcher told
UCA News that the recent census, like others, only produced "soft data." He
argued, for instance, that the number of Buddhists is "certainly" more than 10
percent of Nepal's population.
Sudhir Rai, a journalist who is a Kirati, told UCA News that when the census was
taken on his family, they were not asked for their religion but were just
ticked off as Hindus. Rai also claimed that many Kirati, like Christians, would
say they were Hindus to avoid possible future discrimination. A spokesperson at
the Central Bureau of Statistics told UCA News that data in some areas, namely
in 12 mainly western districts, had to be estimated because of the Maoist
insurgency there.
The census also gives figures for other religious minorities. Sikhs accounted
for 0.03 percent of the population, Jains 0.02 percent and Bahais 0.01 percent.
The census, taken 10 years after the previous one, indicated that Nepal's
population was equally divided between males and females. There were some 4.2
million households, 14 percent of which are in urban areas. About 65 percent of
the households used firewood for cooking. Only some 23 percent of the households
had flush toilets and more than half did not have toilets at all. According to
the census, Nepal's divorce rate was 0.12 percent and its literacy rate was 53
percent. Monsignor Sharma commented that the literacy rate indicates that the
Church's mission is "well directed." Education is a primary concern of the
Catholic Church in Nepal.

A new prayer initiative calls on Christians around the world to pray for a total
of one billion hours for Buddhists. "God loves all Buddhists," says the
initiative, supported by major Evangelical intercessor movements. The aim of the
intercession is "a true spiritual enlightenment and the salvation of many
Buddhists, for a full revelation of the Creator God and his love for them, and
for peace in the Buddhist nations. If 20 million Christians pray for Buddhists
only 1 hour each week - 10 minutes each day - then we will reach one billion
hours of prayer after only one year." The call is addressed not only to
individual Christians, but also to house groups and whole churches. So far,
people have committed to over 50 million hours of prayer. Source and more

Members of a "forgotten" tribal group in a remote corner of the country have
come to Christ after hearing the gospel fully for the first time.
Twenty people were saved when Bill Easter preached to some of those living in
Supai village, on the Havasupai Indian Reservation in Arizona, near the Grand
Canyon. At the second service he held, several people were healed, he told
Assemblies of God (AG) News.
Set in a picturesque corner, surrounded by three waterfalls and towering cliffs,
Supai is accessible only by foot, horseback or helicopter. Some of the 600 or so
villagers had watched religious TV programs, but knew there was more they had to
experience, said Easter, an AG Home Missionary. "[They] had been praying for God
to send people down to share more about Christ."
After making contact, Easter held services at the local community center. Now
some of the villagers want to have a permanent pastor and church, for which AG
congregations in the district are helping raise money.
"I'm just so conscious of the fact that we spend a great deal of money and time
going overseas to reach the lost there," said Arizona district superintendent
Steve Harris. "My heart is just moved, this is almost a forgotten people when it
comes to reaching them for the gospel."

A Liberian mission leader says his country is suffering greatly from more than
ten years of civil war. Yet through the crisis his church planters have nearly
doubled the number of congregations.
In a visit to Christian Aid headquarters last Wednesday, James Cuffee, director
of the 2000-member Christ Evangelical Fellowship Ministries in Liberia, said
that his country was spared further devastation by a united prayer gathering in
February. Cuffee said that all the churches closed their doors for three days of
fasting and prayer February 17-19. On the following Sunday, 75,000 people
gathered in Monrovia's SKD Sports Stadium for united prayer. President Charles
Taylor, members of his cabinet and foreign diplomats also attended.
"As we were praying, the presence of the Lord came down and filled the stadium,"
Cuffee said. "It touched the president, and he fell flat on his face on the
platform and started crying out to God in a prayer of confession for himself and
the nation. All the ministers on the platform joined in with weeping."
At the close of his prayer, Charles Taylor stood and said, "Today I am not the
president of this nation. Jesus is the President. I've turned the country over
to Jesus."
Within days government forces were able to drive rebel forces, which had
advanced to within 20 miles of the capital, back toward Guinea 200 miles to the
North.
Cuffee said that his country has had no electric service or piped water supply
for ten years. "We all have to get our water from wells or streams," he said.
Civil war ravaged the country from 1990 to 1997 when Charles Taylor, one of the
combatants, was elected by a landslide majority. Another group of rebels,
allegedly from Guinea, have been fighting a low-level insurgency in the northern
part of the country since 1999.
Cuffee said that in the wars his group experienced horrific hardship—his own
house and six church buildings were destroyed, membership in his churches was
reduced from 5200 to 2226, and his only vehicle was stolen. Through it all his
church planters were able to plant six more churches. CEFM now has 14 churches,
24 pastors and other staff, and 12 church planters. It also runs two primary
schools with 210 students--including 67 orphans or abandoned children.
Twenty-seven are cared for at one church, and the rest are farmed out to
individual families.
The civil war left 150,000 dead and another 150,000 homeless. Most of these are
still living in displaced person centers, with 100,000 still in the Voice of
America center in Monrovia.

13. PATRICK JOHNSTONE:
>From: Friday Fax <FridayFax@DawnEurope.net>
The American mission agency GMI (Global Mapping) asked Patrick Johnstone, author
of the recently updated prayer handbook 'Operation World', to list the seven
most encouraging trends of the 1990's. This is his list:
Accelerated growth
In the 1990's, the Evangelical movement grew faster than ever before, according
to our massive database of detailed research reaching back to the 1960's.
The AD2000 movement
The AD2000 movement was the most effective and best-targeted global network for
promoting world mission which ever existed. It helped initiate church planting
projects among unreached people groups, created synergy in the Body of Christ
and was instrumental in the birth of many missions initiatives.
The Collapse of the Iron Curtain
The collapse of the Iron Curtain and the end of the USSR created completely new
opportunities for mission in Central Asia. Brother Andrew's 1984 challenge to
pray for 7 years for the fall of the Iron Curtain was taken up and, to the
astonishment of an unbelieving church, fulfilled.
Thousands of Muslims Turn to Jesus
More than ever before, Muslims turned to Jesus: Northern African Berbers,
Jordanians, Bosnians and Afghanis. In 1991, Brother Andrew called for ten years
of prayer for the Islamic world to open to the gospel. The attack on the World
Trade Center on 11th September 2001 could be a key moment for a divided Islamic
world looking for an alternative belief system.
China's Christianity
Starting with only 4 million Christians in 1949, the Body of Christ in China
grew to over 90 million in the year 2000. The development of truly indigenous
forms of Christianity, despite growing persecution at the end of the 1990's, is
one of the most important factors in 21st Century Christianity.
Church Growth in India
The astonishing and mostly undocumented growth of the church in India The
official numbers (2.34% Christians in 1991) are far lower than the truth,
deliberately hiding the true extent of Christianity in the nation. The true
figures are certainly far more than double, and look like only the beginning.
The 'untouchable' Dalits have started leaving Hinduism, which could lead to an
immense growth of Indian churches.
Christian media's decisive contribution
Christian media have changed the faith and world view of millions. Significant
examples are the Jesus Film, satellite television such as SAT7 in the Arab
world, Christian radio in China and India and the explosive growth of interest
in using the Internet for evangelisation and discipleship. Source:

LONDON POLICE AND CHURCHES PRAY TOGETHER - The Evangelical Alliance in the UK
held a major prayer event in September for churches and the Metropolitan Police
in an attempt to reduce crime in the Capital. Entitled 'For London', up to 2,000
churchgoers and police officers worshipped and prayed together in order to make
a difference in London's communities. Bob Pull, leader of the Christian Police
Association, said: "Prayer can have an absolutely fundamental role in creating a
peaceful community." Joel Edwards, General Director of the Evangelical Alliance,
commented: "There is now mounting evidence from cities such as Nottingham that
prayer can play a part in reducing levels of crime dramatically." To support the
initiative the EA published a 10 point plan detailing what church members can do
to assist the police tackle crime. This includes the 'Adopt a Cop' and 'Adopt a
Police Station' strategies, together with encouraging more church members
-especially from the ethnic minorities - to actually join the police.
UK: BOILER ROOMS - What began with the 24-7 prayer movement continues in
so-called Boiler Rooms: starting with a week of round-the-clock prayer, the room
remains permanently open for prayer. Like a permanently-heated boiler, the
pressure builds... "The first Boiler Room is in Abbey Street in Reading, England
(also known as the Millennium 3 Monastery)," writes Pete Greig, 24-7 founder and
visionary. "Non-Christian dropouts and skaters hang around, strangers are drawn
to the room, the local politicians are enthusiastic, pilgrims come from all over
the world and stay to pray. The Boiler Room is full of Catholics, Quakers,
Charismatics, Anglicans, all praying wildly. It is like the start of a new
movement. We're dreaming of 50 new Boiler Rooms in the next 5 years..."
GERMANY'S MOST CHRISTIAN VILLAGE - When Wayne and Irene Negrini arrived in the
German village of Wehingen, they opened their house, prayed with visitors and
experienced healings and deliverances, took people into their home and started
sharing their lives with each other. Today Wehingen has a population of 400 of
which 150 are evangelical Christians - over 35% of the population.
