An international directory of PPGs will, in itself, encourage many other pastors to take the simple step of praying with other pastors in their community.

Will we see a correlation between nations with the highest number of PPGs and a national spiritual awakening?

Who should sing-in? PPG Leaders, as well as those who network PPGs throughout a city or a region. If you have a ministry that resources pastors with prayer materials...so...

*GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER FOR KURDS

>From: Marc van der Woude <MarcvanderWoude@XC.Org>

Earlier this year World in Need (WIN) ran a Global Day of Prayer for Tatar Muslims and, according to WIN director Ron George, the effects were encouraging. Tatars have been coming to Christ and only this week, says Ron, 7 were baptised. WIN are now planning to run a Global Day of Prayer for Kurdish peoples on March 21, 2000 (new year for them) but they need prayer coordinators. They could be either a country, region, city or local church co-ordinator to disseminate information, give a call to prayer and even recruit people to visit Kurds in Iran, Turkey, Iraq, Armenia or in cities around the world where they live. Anyone interested in acting as a prayer coordinator or who just wants information on the day of prayer should contact Ron George <win@pavilion.co.uk>.

*ABIDJAN, COTE d’LVOIRE: KONG PRAYERWALK

>From: “John & Kay Quintero” <jqkq@dtccom.net>

Thank you so much for praying for the prayerwalk in Kong this past week.  So many wonderful things happened—The day after the prayerwalkers left Kong, LaNette greeted a lady who was sick.  She asked if she could pray for the sick lady and the husband, who was standing near her said yes.  The next day, as LaNette passed the courtyard, the lady was out pounding and fixing a meal.  The husband said to LaNette, “When you pray in Jesus’ name, He heals sick people.”  Praise God for this wonderful witness in His name.  Pray that this couple will truly come to understand God’s love for them.

Thank you again for the many prayers for the Jula people.  What a joy it will be to see thousands of Jula around the throne of God one day, as a result of your prayers on their behalf.  Blessings upon each one of you.

Joyfully, Tom & Diane Pace: tndpace@aviso.ci

*GLOBAL INTERCESSORS NETWORK

>From: Intercessors Network <lw.pray@swipnet.se>

Intercessors Network is a set of freely interacting prayer units in about 90 nations (Autumn -99). Intercessors Network has set the intercession for men in power position, for kings and rulers, 1 Tim 2.1-4, as its first priority and sole ground for existence. Intercessors Network does not hold any special political colour or position. The Network is eagerly praying for holiness to be established through recognition of the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Intercession is ability to react and act. Intercession is ability to react the right way to the right things. Intercession is ability to watchfully wait in the presence of the Lord and act according to his revealed will. Rapid action in prayer is so often needed at many levels of human experience. Computer technology allows us to work closely together and enhances the possibilities of mobilising much prayer in short time. E-mail communications provides foundation for solid and immediate prayer back up.  E-mail communication allows us to provide precisely defined and focused prayer cover.

Intercessors Network provides an Urgent Prayer Target e-mail list, to be

used for instant prayer mobilisation in regards to current issues related to

the common goal of the Network. The major focus of this list is on the

prophetic dimension, the cities, the nations, the men in power; the areas of

life in your community where any wind of change must begin to blow. A “Short

Notes”-list is also available. Postings are sent somewhat irregularly and

contains 5-7 prayer items. It also contains an overview of what is sent to

the other lists - you can watch what is going on and order the article you

are interested of

A division within the Network covering Jewish issues is to be accessed and subscribed to by referring to “On the Walls of Jerusalem”. Issues pertaining Middle eastern affairs, Jews in the diaspora and Messianic Jews will be focused under this heading.

Intercessors are indeed welcome to partake in the labour for change.  Intercessors are certainly welcome to send reports on current issues and definitions of prayer targets. By subscribing to the lists, you are not obliged to respond to everything that is sent out from the Network. You may and must pick and choose according to interest and the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Intercessors Network also invites you to visit our web site, where we provide help to find proper prayer targets and instruction on prayer warfare. Send us a note, if you want to be linked to our e-mail lists! No need to re-confirm if you are linked to our lists already.

Rich blessings, Lars Widerberg, Intercessors Network

*INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS, INC

>From: “Claude Watters” <CWatters@isionline.org>

Since 1953 ISI has been sharing God’s love with international students who come to the United States to study in our universities. There are more than 601,000 international students and visiting scholars in our country during this school year. Many are from countries with doors closed to traditional missionary work.  They are the top one to two percent of their nation and future leaders of the world.

Our vision is to see every international student befriended, led to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and discipled for His service. Once they return home to their country as believers the impact they make for Christ is incredible!

Pray for doors to open up with churches that will partner with ISI to reach the international students on their local campus(es).

Continue to pray for people to register as Lighthouses of Prayer for Campuses.  It is vital that all 1269 campuses with 50 or more international students have the prayer cover required to open the campus up to the Gospel.  Pray that strongholds are broken and believers in the local churches see clearly the strategic vision of the ISI.

Pray for the cell groups that are starting throughout the ISI ministry.  Groups are beginning in Colorado Springs.  Pray the students see the opportunity to have a felt need met through the groups.  Also, intercede for the right leaders, both student and American Christian, to be raised up over the next few months.

*NAPLES, ITALY: RESISTANCE TO UNITY

>From: “Ross Piazza” <rosspiazza@libero.it>

I recently sent a “reflection” type letter to several pastors/missionaries, here in Italy, because the Lord has put upon my wife and I a desire to see a true healing of the body of Christ, here in Italy, through denominational reconciliation, repentance and unity between brothers and sisters in the Lord.  The division here is far beyond anything that most people have ever seen. Well, this is just to say that the Anti Conservative vs. Anti Pentecostal wars are continuing in full force here.  It is a curse on the land.  But, we have received many positive responses to this “Reflection for Repentance” letter, which I sent, from pastors and missionaries of differing denominations!  Unfortunately, there have been some letters of opposition to “unity”, also.

There is hunger for Unity!  But, we are already seeing that the enemy is busy at work trying to discourage people in believing that a  “meeting of repentance” could ever happen.  Doubts, skepticism, frustration, discouragement (even apathy), and opposition from others who think that they have been around more than us and, therefore, own the rights to organize such things.  These are just a few of the tactics that the enemy is already using against this vision!  Also, we believe that this could be the way to connect people for the purpose of laying down a foundation for a Spiritual warfare networking in Italy (something that some missionary colleagues and I are attempting to develop).  We are wanting to also use this network of praying people to participate in the larger prayer movement for the 40/70 window (which includes Italy), also called Operation Queens Domain.  Please pray for protection over these two very important matters for the nation of Italy.  Pray for us, and for all the people that the Lord has called to join us in this vision.  Pray that the walls of hypocrisy, skepticism, mistrust, pride will come down.

Blessings to you, Ross Piazza

Missionary to Naples Italy. Please visit our newly updated Web Pages for

*FORTY DAYS OF PRAYER & FASTING: PARSEE PEOPLE

>From:  <Baruch_Hashem@evestamail.com>

Parsee authorities have been concerned at the growing interest of Parsee youth in Messiah Yeshua.  There are 3.5 million Parsees in the world, with only about 30 of which are born again.  Parsee figures are listed on the “AD 2000 & Beyond” web site at http://www.ad2000.org/peoples/jppx95.htm. Apart from the grace that God has given us to reach our own Parsee people with the Gospel, there is no other focused ministry outreach to the Parsees anywhere in the world.

Our Parsee people will observe their holy days called Mukhtad with rituals which begin early in the morning with congregational worship of spirits of deceased relatives, and continue through sunset. Devotees bring offerings of sandalwood and incense to their fire god, along with flowers, fruits, and other gifts. Parsees worship fire as their principal god, and spirits of deceased relatives. Many consider Yeshua (Parsee Name for Jesus) to be a major messiah or prophet. Their “holy” book is similar to the Bible.  Also, much of the Old Testament tells about the good done by Parsee kings for God’s people.

Please, please pray God burden pastors and evangelical leaders to aggressively promote our  “Forty Day Prayer and Fast March 10-April 18 2000.”   Our Parsee people need to be delivered from chains. Many Parsees have charged that Christians only preach about loving, when the Parsees are already practicing it. Please pray God burden loving Believers to earnestly pursue friendships and companionship with Parsees, and spend adequate quality time with them. Parsees are relational people, and enjoy fellowshipping with others. Please pray God give our own (unsaved) families Godly Believers as friends and companions, who would regularly meet with them to minister to them, pray with them, and study God’s Word with them. Without the practical love of Believers our friends and families may never find Yeshua.

Please pray God raise up many congregations and ministries to fast Forty Days—March 10 - April 18 -- for our Parsee people.  Members of a fellowship would volunteer for single days of fasting using the Daily “Prayer Guide” so that the entire forty days would be covered as a whole by the fellowship. Please consider whether the Lord would have your ministry participate. Please consider sending this request out to your prayer network worldwide. Perhaps a sheet of paper could be placed in your ministry’s Fellowship Hall for members to sign their names in day slots to commit to fast on individual days March 10 - April 18.

Thank you very much. May God bless you richly for your solidarity and support.

Your Partners in the Kingdom, Baruch Ha Shem International -

*GLOBAL GLIMPSE ON THE POWER OF PRAYER

>From: Doug Lucas <dlucas@TeamExpansion.org>

A team of believers conducted a prayer walk in a village of the Jola-Fogny people of West Africa. They prayed with more than 200 men, women and children in one area. When elders in another area saw how God answered those prayers, they invited the team to come pray for their school children.  Classes were dismissed so 360 students could kneel in a circle around the intercessors, who prayed for them while the village’s religious leaders watched. (Source: Advance newsletter, January 23, 2000, http://brigada.org/advance/adv20000123.html ) Global Glimpse is compiled by John Hanna, Caleb Project, Littleton, CO.

*A GOOD WORD FROM PHILIPPINES

>From: WFJI@aol.com

This morning I began to see in my mind the vision of a big crowd beginning to gather coming from a far distance, I felt that God was showing me something so I began to seek Him more.  As I waited and watched, I heard this voice whispering to me, “What you will see coming is my most treasured remnant army- personally trained by me.”  I was so excited and began to watch more closely.  I wanted to see what the army of God look like in close-up.

When they come into closer view, I was stunned by what I saw.  In the midst of the crowd coming in, I saw people dressed so drably that many of their clothes are torn and old.  Also, I found many are wounded and limping , some even without arms or legs and many with scars in their body, there was a myriad mixture of men and women and very young children.  They all looked so helpless on the surface and does not in any way resembled what I perceived an army will look like.  So I went back to the Lord to asked Him for some explanation.

Then the Lord give me a sunglass and asked me to put it on.  And when I did, suddenly my eyes were open and I began to see something else, I began to see the light coming forth from the people .  .  .  .  and out from them flows rays of different colors like those of a rainbow and with each color I see words written on them, like “love, healing, grace, wisdom, “ and many others words which are reflective of the nature of God. At this point, I felt the Lord speaking to me these words. . . .

“Take heed and consider carefully. . . .” I am raising up in the midst of the nations a very special remnant. They will not be attractive from the outside, but you have to see them through my eyes of faith to known them.

For many of them have been through many battles and have won:

.  .  .  some have been traveling the path of Daniel and his friends, trained and molded in captivity.

. . .  some are like Hannah who has just come out from years of great anguish and travail.

.  .  .  some are like Naomi who loss husband & children and called herself “Mara”.

.  .  .  some like Paul have battled with physical “thorn” in their bodies and have found “grace” in Me.

.  .  .  some have walked the path of Abraham giving to and giving in to the

many “Lots” that has come through their lives

.  .  .  some of them are like David who has to run away from Saul and live

in caves

“Each one of these precious ones have given up their best and their all as they pass through many rivers, raging fires, wild storms, and great whirlwind.  All of them in one way or another have walked as JOB walked.  The path has not been easy but now THEY HAVE ARRIVED.  They are the one that I have chosen to represent me before the nations and out of them will flow my blessings for my glory rest upon them.

“Many awaiting for the unveiling of my army will not recognize when they come, but to those who are continually seeking me.  They will recognize who they are and will welcome my army with open arms and great will be the blessings that will come to them.  Many of them will speak not with eloquent words or act in glamorous ways, and in fact their physical appearance, their ways and their manner will be offensive to many .  But they are mine and I will confirm the words that they speak with a mighty show of my power and majesty as in the days of old. 1 Corinthians 1:25, 27-29: For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom.

“Father, forgive us your people for our worldly ways and give us a new understanding of who you are and what you desires to be in our lives. Amen!”

*GLOBAL CHURCH GROWTH

From:            newsupdate@charisma.net

‘Amazing’ Church Growth Ushers in ‘Final Era’ of World Missions

Christianity is spreading ‘as never before in history,’  missionary

statesman says

by Andy Butcher

Although 2 billion people have yet to hear the gospel, the “final era” of missions has begun according to a progress report that charts church growth dramatically outstripping the increase in the world’s population.

The number of evangelical believers is growing 3-1/2 times faster than the number of people on earth, says respected missionary advocate Ralph Winter in his state of the nations report on world evangelization.

“For the first time in history it is possible to see the end of the tunnel when there will be a church movement within the language and social structure of every people group on earth, powerful face-to-face evangelism taking over in all peoples,” he writes for “Mission Frontiers” magazine.

In a report co-authored with missions researcher Bruce Koch, Winter—the founder and former director of the U.S. Center for World Missions in Pasadena, Calif.—says that while in 1974 about half the world’s population was “unreached peoples” living beyond the reach of existing churches, that proportion is now down to one-third.

As the world population grows annually by 1.6 percent, “Pentecostals and charismatics” are growing by 7.3 percent, and “evangelicals” by 5.7 percent. “Protestants” are increasing at a rate of 2.9 percent, as “Roman Catholics” shrink by 1.2 percent. Overall, the world’s Christian population grows by 2.6 percent each year—compared with Muslim growth of 2.7 percent.

The overall trend is “indisputable,” they say. “Biblical faith is growing and spreading to the ends of the earth as never before in history.” Among the examples of the “amazing progress of the gospel” they highlight are the growing number of non-Western missionaries and the growth of the church in China—from 1 million to 80 million in 50 years.

But there is less encouraging news, too. Of the 410,000 missionaries from all church backgrounds, less than 3 percent are working among “unreached peoples.” Of U.S. churches’ annual $12.3 trillion income, only 5.4 percent--$11 billion—is given to foreign missions, and of that only 1 percent, or $114 million, goes specifically to work among unevangelized or unreached groups.

A former missionary to Guatemala who now leads the Frontier Mission Fellowship, Winter and his co-author caution that the good progress obscures the “tragic reality” of the millions prevented from hearing the gospel because of “boundaries of prejudice and culture.”

“The church does not readily grow within peoples where relevant churches do not exist. One-third of the individuals in the world live within peoples with no church. They are no more spiritually ‘lost’ than your cousin who has never gone to church, but unlike your cousin, there is no church made up of people like themselves with whom they can fellowship.”

The 2 billion people yet to hear the gospel are to be found in around 10,000 different groups, separated from others by language, location or culture. But there are some 670 churches in the world for each group, Winter says.

“We need only a small percentage of dedicated believers to be mobilized and equipped. Judging the remaining task by the potential work force makes it quite small and within reach by comparison to the forbidding prospect faced by our forefathers.”

“””QUOTE

The past is wonderful, but it is not enough. The nearer we get to the goal line, the more the intensity increases. Some of our plays that previously worked well need fine-tuning because our opponent is now aware of them. A modern football team will watch videos for hours, just for the purpose of making the necessary adjustments so that their plays will be more effective than ever. If we are going to score the touchdown, we must  move to a new level in our application of prayer and spiritual warfare. Recognizing and appreciating the spiritual gift of intercession is an essential starting point. The next step is to affirm the office of intercessor. For years we have been comfortable with the office of “pastor” or “bishop” or “evangelist” or “elder” or “teacher.” We are just recently getting comfortable with the office of “intercessor.” Several churches  I know issue name tags to intercessors, along with the other staff members, for use during their services. The name tag will say, “Sue Jones, Intercessor.” Intercessors are being given specific roles. For example, in some churches they are the only ones encouraged to minister in prayer one-on-one with strangers. In some churches they staff the prayer room. In some churches they organize the prayerwalking ministry. In some larger churches an intercessor might be added to the paid staff as Pastor of Prayer.  Intercessors frequently pray through the services in another room. They lead prayer journeys. They are the ones people call in times of emergency.

Greetings Phil, Looks like you and I are on the same team.  I am the

Co-ordinator of the Combined Churches in Invercargill, NZ and as part of

that role, head up a weekly Pastor’s Prayer Meeting.  I have just surfed to

your website and subscribed for your e-mails, as well as registered my

Pastor’s Prayer Group. I had the privilege of attending a Pastor’s Prayer

meeting in Denver in December 1998 while I was in the US and it was great to

see that God is moving in similar ways on both sides of the world.  I will

be in the US again this year and look forward to meeting up with other

pastor’s who are

working for unity in the body and transformation of their cities. MASSIVE

BLESSINGS,  Dean Comerford, Invercargill, New Zealand

--->NPPNote: Thank You Dean!  It is an honor for the NPPN PPG directory to have New Zealand represented (I hope you’ll motivate many of my US PPG Leaders to do the same!). Let us know your travel itinerary...maybe we can connect you with some local PPG meetings.
