>From: “FMSC-Metro
Chicago” <eldon@icsp.net>
Dear Phil, please ask you prayer teams to remember us in
our work of
rescuing lives in war ravaged Angola.
We have three special requests for Angola:
First, 2 million people in Angola could die of starvation
this year. We need
your prayers and assistance of pray network. Like many
Angolan relief works,
our feeding program for needy children in Luanda, Angola
is without meals
for children. We have been providing 2,500 meals a day to
school children at
our school. Of the 3,500 in the school, these children
would be unable to
study without the food program, in that they have no other
opportunity to
eat a home. In the
past an organization has assisted us with food, but will
be unable to due to a drop in their food supply. Please
pray for this need.
Second, this week Angola will celebrate independence day
and I will be there
with other Christian brothers launching Alfalit Angola
Project 2000. It is a
joint venture of the Ministry of Education and Culture of
Angola and
Abundant Life Association with Alfalit International.
There are one billion
people in our world who cannot read or write, over 7
million of them live in
Angola. Our faith based program will be launched jointly
this week. Please
pray with us, for funding, open doors and that thousands
of adults will be
able to come to Christ and have a new hope in life. What
good does it do to
give a Bible, unless the people who receive it know how to
read? Please pray
with us for this project to reach 100,000 people this
year.
Third, as we are in Angola this next week. We will be
breaking ground for
building a school for 12,000 students, the only school for
a bairrow of 1.2
million people. Please pray as we bring building teams
from around the world
to work, that hundreds of thousands of that bairrow come
to know Christ.
We will also be laying the foundation for building homes
setting up a new
community. Our goal is 5,000 homes, dozens of churches,
clinics, schools and
parks. Believe with us for funding and helpers.
Blessings on your efforts. In Christ, Eldon L. Tracy

*MIDDLE EAST: PRAYER HEALS ARAB BOY
>From: friday_fax@ibm.net
Abdul (name changed) is the 12-year-old son of an affluent
and faithfully
Muslim Arab family. Abdul became seriously ill; no doctor
could help, and
even foreign doctors in a special clinic were unable to
diagnose the illness exactly.
Abdul’s condition became progressively worse. Eventually,
the doctors
declared
that there was nothing which could be done, and told his
parents to take him
home so that he could die in familiar surroundings. The maid,
a follower of
Isa
(Jesus) from a South-East Asian country, heard the family
expressing their
frustration at the lack of hope for their son; she told them “If
you bring
Abdul
to the place where we meet for prayer, we will pray for
him in Jesus’ name,
and
he will be healed.” That was a very courageous step, because
the prayer
meetings
are forbidden by the Islamic law in the nation, and
everyone who attends has
serious problems if they are caught. Despite the risk, the
father decided to
take his son to be prayed for by Christians. God touched
the boy, who was
miraculously healed.

*TWO FREE RESOURCES
>From: Doug Lucas <dlucas@TeamExpansion.org>
>MISSIONARY ALERT EGROUP—Christian Missionary Alert has
been created
so that missions and missionaries can alert each other to
emergency
situations and events worldwide. This would include concerns such as:
natural disasters, political unrest, persecution outbreaks,
epidemics,
terrorist threats and activities, etc. If you or your
mission board need
this kind of information and would be willing to share
emergency information
that you are personally aware of in your area, the group’s

quality color tracts for downloading at http://www.impacto.org/j3-16 .
The idea is that these FREE one-color tracts can be downloaded
(PDF
format), opened, viewed and printed
using Adobe Acrobat Reader
(free from http://www.adobe.com). Once they are
printed out they can
be copied (front and back of a 8.5 X 11” paper) on
photostatic
copiers and distributed at will. Many have already done this.In fact, one Venezuelan said copying on demand
was more financially feasible than going out and stocking up on already printed

*MEXICO: COME
AND TEACH OUR KIDS!
From: “Todd
‘Enrique’ Beel” <mexicocitymissions@ByHisGrace.com>
MEXICO CITY: BARRIO BULLETIN-Doing Missions Through Prayer
We do have a major prayer need that is the main focus of
this Barrio
Bulletin and it regards the missionary kid school which
the Beel and Boyter
children attend plus 2 of the Ortega’s children (a
missionary family joining
our team in April).
Beginning next fall, we will have 7 kids in this
school! Please
pray that God would call out a teacher to come and work at
the school. It
would be a 1 or 2 year term. Southern
Baptists would go
through the ISC program of the International Mission
Board. A teacher would
not necessarily need an education degree or teaching
certificate if other
skills and experience are present. Currently, we have 1 teacher, Greta
Nelson, but she will not be able to manage alone all the
needs of our kids
even coordinating with the school’s other
parent-teachers. Additionally,
Spanish is not required and classes are in English. If you know of someone
in your church that might be interested or if you could
make this prayer
announcement in your church, we would be very
grateful. Anyone that senses
God’s leading should email us at the email address below
and we can send
information on the school and possibly a home video of the
school.
The teachers that we’ve had at the school so far have been
a wonderful
influence on our children lives-in both what they teach
and as the kid’s
friends, too. As
missionaries, one of our most important concerns is the
schooling of our children. We can’t settle for just a so-so education, they
deserve our best.
Please pray with us for this need.
Thank you for praying about this need for us. We look forward to seeing
God’s provision. May God Bless You as You Pray,

*INDONESIA: FREEDOM TO EVANGELIZE + UNITY
>From: “John Robb” <"john_robb"@wvi.org>
Dear Friends, a close ministry colleague of mine in
Indonesia and my
colleagues in World Vision there have asked for continuing
prayer for the
nation to recover from violence and move toward
reconciliation. In addition
to the requests below, please pray that violence will
stop; for effective
reconciliation efforts by moderate Christians and Muslims;
and for wisdom
and strength for Gus Dur,the nation’s president, as he and
his government
tries to end the crisis.
>From Iman Santoso:
Many of those who fled from Lombok riots, now stay (at
least temporarily)
in Bali (Lombok’s neighbour island). My brother in law (A
Christian leader,
a medical doctor) was one of 100 Christian leaders (in
Lombok) in the list
to be murdered (by the extremists). They are now in Bali
(at least for the
time being).
Last Saturday, Jan. 22, 2000, a number of us (Christian
leaders) with
Muslim leaders (including some Muslim hard-liners, as well
as Hindhus and
Buddhists) manage to make a public statement (TV &
newspapers coverage) to
condemn further violence (so that the nation would not
disintegrate). The
Jakarta’s Chief police (A Major General) took the
initiative (through a
meeting with a Christian Navy Commodore) for the meeting.
However, no one
could guarantee that no further riots will not take place.
To the renewed demands (especially made by Muslims) not to
evangelize, a
team of us is writing a position statement. Pray for
faithfulness to our
Christian calling as well as great wisdom (Mt. 10:16).
Pray for the next
larger meeting with important Muslim leaders on Jan. 28,
2000 in Jakarta.
Internally, more meetings for unity among so many
different Christian
groups are being organized. Pray that in all these God’s
people may continue
to grow in unity, as well as to forgive, love and continue
to pray for the
Muslim factions that hate us. Thanks.

*GERMANY & UK: WORSHIP AT START OF MILLENNIUM
>From: Marc van der Woude <MarcvanderWoude@XC.Org>
At the start of the new Millennium massive worhip
gatherings were held
in Germany and the United Kingdom. In Karlsruhe a revival
worship event took
place as it had not been before in Germany. 8,000 people
gathered, not
counting the children in a big hall to worship the Lord
for three days. The
worship went on day and night. On 2 January 2000 the BBC
broadcasted the
‘Millennium Songs of Praise’ from Cardiff, Wales. 66,000
people filled the
Millennium Stadium to capacity for this historic worship
event. There was a
Welsh orchestra of one hundred harp players, they played ‘Jesu

launch what is
thought to be the first ever Prayerwatch scheme in the UK.
Similar to the
Neighbourhood Watch system in which people keep an eye
open for anything
unusual going on in their neighbourhood, Prayerwatch -

a wide range of initiatives planned for the millennium -
will see concerned
Christians ready to pray at the end of a telephone

*PRINCE GEORGE, BRITISH COLUMBIA: 18 NIGHT OUTPOURING
>From: “Todd Bentley” <toddbentley@hotmail.com>
--->NPPNote: We are delighted to present reports
of God’s power and
healing but we require credible eyewitness accounts and
welcome “reports
from doctors,” not to validate God’s healing ability but
to verify the
reality of the Holy Spirit’s work. Primarily, we believe,
God heals to
authenticate His authority over sin and death, especially
to non-believers.
Healings in a room crowed with Christians must result in
the passioante
sharing of the gospel or, in our opinion, it has done
nothing to advance the
kingdom of God (this does not imply that the healing is
worthless or wasted;
just selfish on our part if we fail to then go and make
disciples).
For the last 18 nights Prince George Family Worship
Center, in Prince
George, British Columbia has been the scene of the most
powerful move of God
that Todd Bentley has witnessed recently. According to
this renewal and
revival minister, Prince George FWC is “a great church”,
but an unlikely
site for God’s outpouring. “The last place that I thought
God would move
like he did was there,” exclaims Bentley.
Reports of healings abound:
On Monday, a lady who was completely deaf... was
completely healed.
(Bentley testified that he checked her hearing both before
and after the
miracle and could validate it.)
Another man testified that... God “opened up” his ear and
his hearing
was totally restored! One lady’s eyesight went from poor
to perfect...
people were healed of asthma and many other medical
afflictions. Another
woman who rededicated her life to Jesus at the altar,
began to feel her
crooked spine straighten and was totally restored, free
from pain and
suffering... neck and back healing testimonies - “I am
waiting on reports
form doctors to verify many other miracles that I believe
took place,” says
Pastor Todd.
As in many meetings taking place worldwide, these were
characterized by
a renewal of God’s people. Back-slidden Christians
rededicate there lives
amidst such a strong “aroma” of God’s presence as was the
case in Prince
George. Many “fell in love” with Jesus and out of love
with religion and its
suffocating demonic bondages. People were freed from
addiction, depression
and life-long sufferings of all kinds, while catching on
fire for God, burning with a desire to serve him.
Prince George is located in far northern British
Columbia and its
background is extremely dark. It is characterized by a
strong lack of unity
in the churches located there, but God brought Baptist,
Catholics and
Mennonites into the meetings to be filled with the Holy
Ghost! (God’s word
is like a hammer according to Jeremiah. Eventually he will
break through.

*ENGLAND: WRITERS CONFERENCE...
>From: SharylSieh@cs.com
I know this is an unusual item for the newsletter,
but I have seen
firsthand the struggles that Christian writers and
publishers face when
trying to reach their own people with the Gospel message
through the written
word. Sometime it
seems that the enemy is hard at work to quench every effort made to communicate
Truth. Where would we be without the distribution
of the written words of dedicated men and women like Paul, Mark, John and
Peter?
Every two years an international conference is held
for writers,
editors, publishers and graphic artists involved in the
planning, producing
and marketing of Christian literature. The next conference will be held in
England in October.
The purpose is three fold:
1. To encourage men
and women in the difficult work of starting and
sustaining a publishing endeavor in difficult areas
of the world
2. To provide a
platform for networking with others in the publishing
field around the world
3. To give specific
training, guidance and insight for those called
into reaching their people through the written word
Perhaps the conference could help someone in your
prayer network.
---NPPNote: Perhaps it could help someone write the
next great book on
prayer or a strategy fo developing and strengthening
PPGs...
For registration information, please contact
Conference Registrar Sharyl
Sieh (SharylSieh@cs.com)
or visit MAI’s Web Site: www.littworld.org.
By the way, I have been blessed to read about the
other efforts of prayer
warriors in walking through their “land” to repossess
what the enemy had
stolen. I had
no idea that our prayer walk would reach out to others. I was
recently in SE Indiana at a conference and was able
to encourage an
intercessor there to pray about walking through her
county. Sharyl Sieh

*MOLUCCAS, INDONESIA: DAY OF PRAYER
>From: “Syully Pattiasina” <odille@indosat.net.id>
>From: Kontak Sala Waku <kontak_salawaku@gpgpib.cjb.net>
http://www.jubileecampaign.demon.co.uk/church/ind9.htm
As fresh violence claimed the lives of at least 24
Christians on January
23rd, Moluccan Christians in Britain, Holland
and other parts of the globe
are urgently appealing to the worldwide Christian
community to join them in
observing an International Day of Prayer and Fasting for
the Moluccas on
Sunday, February 20th 2000.
An estimated two thousand Christians and Muslims have been
killed in the
year-long sectarian violence in the Moluccas islands in
eastern Indonesia.
Over a thousand Muslim fighters have travelled to the
Moluccas to wage a
Jihad or so-called holy war against the Christians there.
At least 24
Christians were killed and dozens of others wounded on
January 23rd 2000 in
fresh sectarian violence on Haruku island in central
Moluccas. The clash
started early on Sunday morning when Muslim mobs from
Rohomoni village
attacked the predominantly Christian villages of Sameth
and Haruku in the
Haruku district of Central Moluccas. At least three
churches and hundreds
of homes were burnt by the Muslim attackers.
Indonesian troops have frequently participated in atrocities
against
Christians, joining Islamic militants in their attacks. On
August 11th
1999, Indonesian soldiers from the Kostrad Unit herded 25 or
more
Christians into the Yabok Protestant Church in Galala,
Ambon island. The
Christians were all shot dead then their bodies were cut
up and burned in
an attempt to hide the evidence. On December 26th
last year, the Silo
Protestant Church in Ambon was attacked and destroyed by
Indonesian troops
and Muslim militants.
Due to widespread anti-Christian prejudice displayed by
the military, the
Indonesian Communion of Churches has desperately appealed
for international
intervention and peacekeeping forces to end the bloodshed
in the Moluccas.
Wilfred Wong, Parliamentary Officer for the Jubilee
Campaign, says, “The
Moluccas is one of the few areas in the world today where
so many
Christians are being slaughtered on such a frequent basis
because of their
faith. This appalling situation is not only a tragedy for
the Moluccan
Christians but for every other believer who claims to be
part of the Body
of Christ. As the apostle Paul wrote in First Corinthians
Chapter Twelve,
when one part of the Body of Christ suffers, all parts
suffer with it. Now
is a crucial time for all of us Christians to put this
principle into practice, regardless of what denomination or culture we come
from.”
Attached below is a briefing sheet giving more details on
what can be done
to support the International Day of Prayer and Fasting for
the Moluccas,
Indonesia.
For further information, you can contact Wilfred Wong on
0171 219 5129.
Jubilee Campaign is an interdenominational Christian human
rights pressure
group, which has worked with over 150 British
Parliamentarians on issues in
countries as diverse as Egypt, Pakistan, China, Sudan,
Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, Laos, Vietnam, Mongolia and Brazil.
The Moluccas is one of the few places in the world today
where Christians
are being slaughtered in such large numbers on a frequent
basis simply
because they are Christians. The situation in the Moluccas
is EXTREMELY
CRITICAL, and the anti-Christian violence there threatens to
spread
throughout the rest of Indonesia. Such intense violence
against Christians
throughout Indonesia would have catastrophic consequences,
not just for the
country but for South-East Asia. Moluccan Christians are
desperately
appealing to their brothers and sisters in Christ all over
the world to
observe an international day of prayer and fasting for the
Moluccas on
Sunday, February 20th 2000. Churches are
encouraged to incorporate this
request for prayer and fasting into their worship service
on that day and
to consider holding prayer vigils on this extremely
critical situation.
>From late December 1999 till early January there has
been very intense
violence, with over 700 Christians and Muslims killed. Since
sectarian
violence started in January 1999, about 2000 people have
died. The
Indonesian military has increasingly taken sides with the
Muslims to launch
attacks against Christians. For instance, on December 26th,
Indonesian
troops joined with Muslim rioters in their attack on the
Silo church in
Ambon island. This was the largest Protestant church in
the Moluccas. It
was captured and destroyed by the combined force of
soldiers and Muslim
attackers. The troops even used their armoured vehicle in
the assault. On
August 11th 1999, 25 or more Christians were
herded into the Yabok Protestant Church and massacred by Indonesian soldiers.
Muslim volunteers from outside the Moluccas have been
infiltrating into the
area to wage a Jihad or so-called holy war against the
Christians. On
Friday, January 7th 2000, tens of thousands of
Indonesian Muslims
demonstrated in Jakarta for the third day in a row,
calling for a holy war
against Christians in the Moluccas. Much of the Islamic
media in Indonesia
and some Muslim aid workers have distorted the true
situation by portraying
the Muslims as the victims and Christians as the
aggressors, fuelling calls
for a Jihad and hostility against Christians throughout
Indonesia.
The anti-Christian violence is now beginning to spread
outside the
Moluccas. For instance, on January 17th, Muslim
youths started to attack
churches in Mataram, the main town on Lombok island, after
an Islamic rally
at which protestors demanded speedier government action to
end sectarian
violence in the Moluccas. Muslim media reports in
Indonesia have whipped up
anti-Christian feelings in many parts of the country by
falsely portraying
the Christians as the aggressors in the Moluccan conflict.
Church leaders are desperately appealing for international
intervention to
stop the bloodshed. The Indonesian Communion of Churches
(PGI) has
expressed its “deepest concern” over escalating attacks
against Christians
in the past few weeks. The PGI states that, “The massive
attacks against
Christian congregations is a direct consequence of the
lack of transparency
in the handling of the conflict in Maluku by the
Indonesian Military (TNI)
and the Police Force.
If accountability is not undertaken, then, taking into
consideration the
continuing violence and heeding the people’s strong
feelings, it would be
best if TNI and the Police Force were pulled out of Maluku
(the Moluccas)
and replaced with international peacekeepers.”
Pray that:
1) There will be peace
and reconciliation in the Moluccas and that the attempt to Islamicise the
islands by force will not succeed.
2) Muslim-Christian
relations will be peaceful throughout Indonesia and
that the sectarian violence in the Moluccas will not
encourage hostility by
Muslims against Christians in other parts of
Indonesia.
3) There will be
increased international pressure on the Indonesian
government and military to stop the violence (pressure
should include the
suspension of arms sales to Indonesia) and to ensure
that the Indonesian
army behaves responsibly and do not take sides in the
conflict.
4) God will protect the
Christian community throughout Indonesia and
provide for the 80,000 plus internally displaced
people in the Moluccas,
made homeless by the sectarian violence.
5) The UN will send
international peacekeepers and human rights
investigators to the Moluccas (the investigators will
serve as a neutral
group to look into the causes of the conflict and
identify who the perpetrators are).
6) God will strengthen
and encourage the Christians in the Moluccas who are
facing such overwhelming odds against them and many of
whom have lost loved
ones in the conflict.
7) The Christians will
be able to remain in the Moluccas and will not be
driven out of their homeland by the violence.
8) The attempts to
Islamicise Indonesia and change its pluralist constitution will not succeed.
FASTING
Due to the sheer scale of the violence and overwhelming evil
which the
Moluccan church is up against, those concerned about the
situation are
encouraged to seriously consider fasting as well. It can
be a full fast,
abstaining from all food for the whole day, or a partial
fast, abstaining
from food for part of the day. If you have a medical
condition, you are
strongly advised to check with your doctor first before
you undertake any
fast.
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP
1. LETTER WRITING -
Write to your Member of Parliament or Member of the
European Parliament about the situation. For
guidelines on letter writing
about the Moluccas situation, you can write to:
Wilfred Wong, c/o Ian Bruce MP, Room 201, Norman Shaw

2. GIVING - With a
severe shortage of medical equipment to treat the numerous casualties and more
than 80,000 people in the Moluccas made
homeless by the violence there is a massive need for
humanitarian aid. For
further information on how you can contribute money
towards such humanitarian assistance, you can write to Wilfred Wong at the
above address.

*FREE TIBET THROUGH PRAYER
>From: “John Robb” <"john_robb"@wvi.org>
Tibet is the origin for one of the worldest darkest religious
systems,Tibetan
Buddhism, and it has been traditionally one of the most
resistant areas to
the
Gospel. It is known as a mega-stronghold of spiritual
darkness, exporting
its
influence to the West and other nations. The Dalai Lama, its
best known
emissary, is right now in the middle of a “world conquest
tour,”
disseminating
Tibetan Buddhism and
with his traveling monks, inviting the entrance and
dominion of Tibetan deities in the nations they visit. This
summer in
Washington, D. C. they will set up a functioning Tibetan
Buddhist temple and
monastery. They will be making offerings to these spirits
to enthrall the
hundreds of thousands of visitors who are expected to
attend. Please join us
in
praying that such efforts will turn out to be an utter fiasco
and come to
nothing all around the world.
This year many of us will be focusing special prayer on
Tibet and the
Tibetan
people, praying for spiritual breakthrough and deliverance
from the power of
darkness. Tomorrow I leave for Thailand to take part in a
consultation with
Christian workers from Tibet (Feb. 2-5). Along with Jim
Stephens, director
of
the Sonrise Center for Buddhist Studies, we hope to come
to a better
understanding of the issues these brothers and sisters
face. We need God’s
discernment and the anointing of the Spirit to develop a
prayer strategy to
be
used for the prayer initiative to be held later this year.
Dick Eastman and
his
staff at Every Home for Christ ,along with others who have a
ministry
involvement or special concern for Tibet, will meet with
us at the World
Prayer
Center in Colorado Springs, Feb.23-24. Our purpose is to
develop an
effective
strategy for intercessory prayer—the first step for the
transformation of
this needy region.
May I ask for your prayer support over the next weeks for:
1. Strong rapport and
an anointed, valuable time with the Christian workers
from
Tibet so they will want to participate fully in the upcoming
prayer
initiative
and freely and wisely share what will be most helpful. May
the right people
be
able to come to Thailand and meet with us.
2. Deep discernment and
clarity as to how the evil one maintains his hold on
Tibet and its people and how his grip can be broken
and deliverance can come.
3. For Jim Stephens who
will be a major resource person and will be interviewing
missionaries and national workers in three
consultations (Jan.31-Feb.9).
Pray
for protection over him, Jim Stack who is coordinating the
consultation in
Colorado and for all of us (including our families) who will
take part.
There
has been a disturbing history of serious health attacks and
even death for
those
involved in ministries related to Tibet and Tibetans.
4. That the right
people will be able to join in the Colorado consultation,
Feb.23-24, for God’s clear guidance and anointing, and
for my preparation
and
facilitation of the event.
Thanks so much for standing with us in strategic prayer.
Let’s expect the
Lord to astonish us by all He does to set Tibet free!
Warm greetings, John Robb

*SOUTH AFRICA: FOUR WEEKS OF PRAYER
>From: Marc van der Woude <MarcvanderWoude@XC.Org>
Cities, regions and towns in South Africa are encouraged

four weeks of 2000 (14-20 February, 8-14 May, 14-20
Augusts, 23-29 October)
many places will have a 24 hour prayer watch for seven
days. The prayer
focus will be on praying for local congregations, the

to pray for revival, the healing of the land and the
