PASTORS PRAYER GROUP WINS MAYORS AWARD
The Last Tuesday national conference call in November featured God at
work in Branson, MO. We heard, among other things, about how key players in the
city (business people, top school personnel, government leaders, etc.) are being
trained to act as Servant Leaders by a man who normally charges Fortune 500
Companies more than $6,000 per day (!). If you were not on the line and would
like to hear the conversation, cassette tapes are available for $7.00. Contact
us to purchase one at
irm@prayersummits.net.
This Tuesday, January 25th, our featured cities' conference call will feature
how the Church in Santa Rosa, CA, is being used by God to make a difference in
their city. Here is a glimpse: "Headline - The group that received the Mayor's
award for service to the community this past year was. The Pastors' Prayer
Fellowship." Dial 661.705.2000
(enter code 250105) at 9:00 AM Pacific on January 25th for all the details!

A WORD FROM PASTOR PHIL...
We recently received a note from Paul and Evelyn Leonard, missionaries to
Ethiopia:
"Received your package with the prayer manual. Thank you very much
for your thoughtfulness!! Hopefully I can make some copies for a youth who had
questions the other day about prayer. He has leadership potential. He can also
probably help me get some copies translated into Amharie so that we can see
someone getting it published in a Christian newspaper here."
The NPPN has put together a manual of prayer focused articles and ideas that
assist pastors in their congregational ministry. It also promotes the global
move of pastors gathering with one another for prayer. Not a best-seller, were
just glad that it provides a little help to those choice servant of God who do
so much with so little. Please pray for the missionaries and local pastors who
have received a copy; good fruit for the Kingdom of God.
Working with you for a prayed for planet,

AUSTRALIA: PRAYER ON THE 55th
FLOOR
>From: "Crosswalk" <Religion_Today_Summaries@lists.crosswalk.com>
>Reply-To: "Religion Today Summaries"
<Religion_Today_Summaries@lists.crosswalk.com>
Australia's tallest office building has become a high place for intercession.
Since 1996, Christians have gathered in the 800-foot tower in Melbourne to pray
for transformation in their city and nation. Elevated 55 floors above the
sidewalks of Melbourne, Rialto Towers has served as the regular
interdenominational meeting place for as many as 120 intercessors who have
united to intercede for their nation and the city of 3.5 million people. The
brainchild of Transforming Melbourne coordinator Rob Isaachsen, a 61-year-old
charismatic Anglican minister, the Rialto prayer meetings are seen as a
strategic rallying point for a range of local and national activities
significant to Australian Christians. "The Rialto meetings provide a unique
opportunity to worship and pray as we look out over the whole city, allowing us
to worship Jesus as Lord over the city, with a sense of how He sees Melbourne,"
Isaachsen told Charisma magazine. Pentecostals, charismatics and more
traditional believers are all represented in the quarterly prayer meetings at
Rialto. Isaachsen estimated that 20 denominations figured in the average
attendance of between 40 and 60 people. The tower-top gatherings were originally
intended for church ministers, but it became difficult to get pastors to come
out on Saturday mornings, and the prayer meetings shut down temporarily. (http://www.charismanow.com)

TURKEY: BEAUTIFUL GIRLS ARE GIVING OUT NEW TESTAMENTS IN ISTANBUL...
>By Michael Ireland
MORE THAN 50,000 NEW TESTAMENTS DISTRIBUTED DURING CHRISTMAS SEASON IN TURKEY
GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO (ANS) -- Reports that in Turkeys three major cities
(Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir) 54,500 New Testaments were distributed by Alo Dua
(New Testament distribution team) over Christmas, have reached the offices of
Turkish World Outreach in Grand Junction, Colorado.
On January 6, a four page full-color article came out about the Alo Dua Prayer
Center in a popular magazine.
Our pictures, and pictures of Turks who have come to the Lord through Alo Dua
are there. This morning, the magazine was featured on T.V. with a cover picture
of Ian praying for people, says one correspondent.
With the NTs going out on the streets in Turkey and your prayer support there is
a big stir going on here in Turkey. This was started when the former Presidents
wife and the former President made their comments, the writer said in an e-mail
received by TWO and obtained by ASSIST News Service (ANS).
In the Aksam Newspaper: Bulent Ecevit, the former President commented, And now
they are even giving out free New Testaments to the public in the center of
Ankara (Turkeys capital).
The Milliyet Newspaper reported: Missionary activity is increasing! Rahsan
Ecevit said Missionaries are moving forward quickly these days but what disturbs
me is that many Muslim countrymen are on the path of leaving their beliefs, or
becoming Christians. We are losing our religion. We will soon be wearing crosses
from our skullcaps.
TWO reports that other newspapers have followed suit, and are entering the
debate.
At least 10 newspapers have carried stories about Alo Dua and the NT
distribution.
We have been on TV and radio as well. There are many articles on the internet.
The exciting thing is that many interested people are phoning and emailing. We
are receiving multiplied curses and threats and Islamic prayers everyday over
the phone and internet. The Prayer Hotline phones are ringing, the Alo Dua
Prayer Center correspondent writes.
We do not want to be presumptuous about the need for prayer at this point, and
do not want to overload you with the request for prayer. However, Alo Dua and
the New Testament Distribution has been in the media, and the debate has
broadened to the topic of foreign workers and proselytizing, and so we are
asking for increased prayer vigils at this point. We know that many of you have
stood with us over the years, and we want to see a mighty wave of Turks
repenting -- just as the former Presidents wife fears.
The Merhaba Newspaper says there has been, Explosive reaction about missionary
activity! They are distributing thousands of New Testaments in the center of
town.
Here are some other reactions:
Haber Turk: A representative of the Religious Affairs Department said, We are
under serious internal and external threat. Missionaries have a budget of $200
million and are giving 3 million NTs out a year whereas the Religious Affairs
Department has a grave personnel shortage in that 23,542 of our mosques have no
religious teachers.
Hurriyet Newspaper: But according to the Constitution, everyone has freedom of
thought, conscience, and religion. Everyone also has the freedom to meet
together to worship. Freedom to change religion is also included.
Sabah Newspaper: NT Distribution and Kicking Protest! A parliamentarian arrived
with TV cameras to the Alo Dua stand in Ankara. They overturned the stand and
began to shout slogans.
Vakit Newspaper: Christianity to us - our nation to them - Missionaries came to
our nation and taught us to pray. We closed our eyes and learned how to pray.
When we opened our eyes Christianity became ours and our nation went to the
missionaries.
Ankara News: The missionaries have distributed 600,000 NTs since the 24th and
will reach the 1 million mark by the 31st. The Saglik Is Sendikasi is
distributing Korans on the street in protest to the Alo Dua New Testament
distribution.
Zaman Newspaper: If we knew our religion, missionaries would be no threat to us.
Yenicag Newspaper: Beautiful girls are giving out NTs in Istanbul. They approach
our young men with a smile and hand them a New Testament.
The Alo Dua correspondent added: We hope this has drawn a picture for you of how
necessary it is for you to be involved in praying, because our Lord Jesus wants
the glory for His Name. He wants the lost to come in. And for Turkey to not be
the largest unreached nation in the world (Operation World). Please pray for
extreme wisdom, protection for Alo Dua in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir.

<http://www.prayer.tv> which has been launched the UK.
In 2004, Media Support ( who runs Prayer.tv) also launched a nationwide
quarterly Prayer Magazine. This 36 page full colour publication carries news,
updates and prayer requests of the prayer needs and testimonies in towns and
cities right across Britain and Ireland as well as inspirational articles and
stories of people who brought change to their communities or even nations
through prayer.
Britain and Ireland is a missions field where less than 7% of the
population of the UK attends church, and yet approx. 78% of the British public
associate themselves to the Christian Faith.
Prayer TV is working together with many ministries and church to win
people into the Kingdom of God, through prayer and evangelism. We are praying
for a turn around in this nation, back to the great Christian heritage of it's
past. Please join us in our quest for a revival of faith in the UK and Ireland

EL SALVADOR: EVANGELICAL AWAKENING
>From: <http://www.charismanow.com/>
El Salvador was devastated by war only a decade ago, but the Latin American
nation is now a land of faith and spiritual renewal. Evidence of an evangelical
awakening is everywhere here. Just 13 years ago, before the civil war ended,
only 5 percent of the country's population was born again. Today it is estimated
that 30 percent of Salvadorans are evangelical Christians. One church in the
capital has 100,000 members.
Cristina Hasbn, a 35-year-old pastor's wife living in the capital city of San
Salvador, sparked a quiet revolution two years ago when she rented a stadium and
organized a conference that attracted thousands of Salvadoran women. Many of
them stared in disbelief when Cristina, who was ordained as a pastor alongside
her husband, Juan Carlos, donned a wireless microphone and preached several
sermons during the first daylong event. Women don't preach in El Salvador. But
the Hasbns are blazing trails for a new generation of Christians here.
"I never asked for this anointing. I never asked for this calling," Cristina
told "Charisma" magazine in the January issue, out now. The full report on the
spiritual renewal in El Salvador can be found in the magazine. "But it all came
to me because I spent time with God," she added. Held at the huge Magico
Gonzales Stadium in downtown San Salvador, the second conference attracted more
than 11,000 women from all 14 provinces in the country. Cristina raised more
than $200,000 to rent buses to bring the women -- many of them poor domestic
laborers -- to the capital. She preached so forcefully that day that she lost
her voice. But it was worth all the sacrifice, she said, to see so many women
from her nation respond to the gospel and find true spiritual freedom in Christ.
"It was a miracle," she said of the Second National Congress of Women. "It was
the first time in the history of our country that people from different
denominations gathered together." Her 36-year-old husband is also a risk-taker
who isn't afraid to break religious traditions. He said miracles are becoming
more common in El Salvador as Christians leave their mark on secular society.
The Hasbns, former youth pastors in the Assemblies of God, started their
independent church, Iglesia Kemuel, in 1998. Their first meetings were held in a
garage, and for the first four years they had only 80 members. The congregation
has grown to about 450 members today -- and a majority of them are students and
young professionals who are taking their faith into the marketplace. But what is
most amazing about the Kemuel church is that it finances some of the largest
Christian events in the nation. The Hasbns have sponsored healing crusades with
evangelists Benny Hinn and Franklin Graham and worship celebrations with
recording artists Marcos Witt and Marco Barrientos. "We have had a total of
250,000 people in these events," Cristina said.

BHUTAN: EVANGELIZING A CLOSED
NATION
>From: insider@christianaid.org
Bhutan, a landlocked country between India, Bangladesh and Nepal, is one of the
world's least- evangelized places. Less than one-tenth of one percent of a
population of nearly three million profess to be Christian. Beliefs other than
Buddhism and Hinduism are seen as foreign intrusions, and attempting to convert
a Buddhist or Hindu in Bhutan is strictly prohibited.
Yet the word of the Lord is spreading in this closed country through the
faithful work of native missionaries. With a history of foreign intrusion by
imperialistic powers, Bhutan is extremely wary of outsiders and their influence.
Any entry of foreigners, including tourists, is limited.
While some indigenous ministries do operate secretly within Bhutan, others
simply set up shop along its borders. One such ministry recently held an
evangelistic convention in a border town attended by 600 people, many of whom
were Bhutanese. A number of attendees who had never received the gospel before
gave their lives to the Lord for the first time. These "border ministries,"
many operated by Indian and Nepali missions, have proven very effective in
evangelizing the people of Bhutan. One native missionary has begun visiting
schools in India where Bhutanese students are known to attend, hoping to reach
them with the truth of Christ so they may return to their country as living
lights for Him.
Christian ministry within Bhutan is carried out cautiously but steadily. One
native missionary leads over 30 cell groups. New believers come to the Lord
every month and are baptized in remote rivers where those opposed to the gospel
cannot find them. Some have been led to the Lord through secret showings of the
"Passion of the Christ" video. These men and women pay a price for following
Christ, ostracized by families and communities. Yet more and more people in the
isolated kingdom of Bhutan are receiving the light of Christ. Please remember
native missionaries of Bhutan in your prayers, as well as those missions along
the borders. For more information on indigenous ministries working in Bhutan,
write insider@christianaid.org and put MI- 538 706-WMN on the subject line.
Missions Insider is a free email report from Christian Aid, your link to
indigenous missionary ministries based in poorer countries overseas, or where
evangelical Christians are a persecuted minority. Christian Aid provides
headquarters services and representation in the USA for more than 700 indigenous
ministries that have a total of 90,000 missionaries on the field, many in
countries where American missionaries are not allowed. Direct inquiries to
insider@christianaid.org. Please pray for these and other indigenous ministries.
To assist them financially, mail your gifts to Christian Aid or call them in to

JAPAN: CHRISTMAS PARTY
>From: "Richard McLaughlin" <richapril3@ybb.ne.jp>
The Christmas decorations are replaced by the Shinto New Years symbol, a pine
branch attached to the front gate of each home Most Japanese head for temples or
shrines early on New Years Day to pray for safety and blessings for the New
Year. As they approach the front area, they toss a coin into the offering
trough, clap their hands and pray. To whom they pray is not important. The
prayer may go to Buddha, an ancestor god, or one of the million Shinto gods. It
doesnt really matter. The same thing can be seen in many homes which may still
have a Buddhist family altar and also a Shinto god-shelf.
We long for more and more Japanese people to know Jesus as different and far
above the variety of gods that are honored here. We worked together with
neighborhood and church friends to host about 35 people (combination of adults
and children) for a Christmas Party. We were able to have a clear focus on
Jesus. Everyone responded very positively, so now we trust God again for what
next opportunities present themselves for us to be a witness for Christ; even
in the midst of our Language Learner season of mission service.
Thank you again for sharing this spiritual adventure with us,

BIBLE SOFTWARE FOR MISSIONARIES -- Overseas missionaries can get excellent Bible
software that works in 25 languages for only $10, shipping included. Most of
the program is also available for download for free. One of our readers, a
missionary by the name of Kerby, has been using Online Bible (OLB) for years and
recommends it. OLB includes Strong's Concordance, Thompson Chain Reference, 22
English versions of the Bible and many other languages. The program also can
display two or more language versions of the Bible at the same time, which you
can display on an overhead or video projector. This makes life easier for
missionaries still learning a foreign language, and helps the listeners as well.
Mac, DOS, Windows and Palm Pilot versions are available. Go to: http://www.onlinebible.net
