* A Word From Pastor
Phil...
Greetings from the friendly skies!
I am on my way home from four days in beautiful
Wyoming, as I have been meeting with Southern Baptist State Prayer Leaders.
What a great Prayer Link meeting! Twenty five states were represented; the
most ever. Prayer walking at several strategic ministry sites. Bragging on
God’s varied and creative work among us in prayer. Passionate prayer for the
gospel to permeate the nations, to penetrate the darkness of false religion
and for the Church (especially in North America) to respond with
love-in-action to the AIDS pandemic.
The group also experienced a "reality-check" as we realized that the call to
prayer is actually a call to return to the Lord in both our personal holiness
and in being on mission together.
May you and I allow the Holy Spirit to accomplish His work in us so that He
may accomplish even more through the ministry of prayer He has appointed us to
pursue.
Pastor Phil

“For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins
with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of
God?”(1 Pet 4:17).
Repentance is not measured simply by outward change, neither by actions or
words. Instead, repentance is an internal sorrow in our hearts over our sin
condition, a confession of our total helplessness, a deep hunger and thirst
for holiness and purity, followed by the corresponding outward changes in our
lives.
“Who may ascend the hill of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? He
who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to an idol
or swear by what is false. He will receive blessing from the Lord and
vindication from God his Savior” (Ps 24:3-5).
Before revival can ever come to a nation, Christians must first repent
personally. “Look at your hands; look at your heart,” we must say to ourselves
as we kneel in the place of confession. Then churches must repent corporately.
Only then can the Church as the whole Body of Christ united call a nation to
repent.
What if a sin-filled, dirty Church tries to call the nation back to God? What
if a proud, divided, jealous, covetous Church tries to lay the sins of the
whole culture on those outside the Church? We will only deserve the laughter
and derision from those who will cry out the truth to us in the word
“hypocrite.” Only our own repentance can prepare the way of the Lord to come
into the hearts of others. Without that repentance by individual Christians
and then by the Church as a whole, there will be no revival. Instead, the full
anger of God’s judgment will fall on the Church, and then on the whole nation.
When people repent, God comes with mercy and revival instead of judgment. All
of us deserve judgment and even hell for our sins, and the mercy of Jesus is
our only hope. The very meaning of mercy is “not getting what we deserve.”
When we stand before God as a group, a church, or a nation to confess our
sins, God responds according to 2Chronicles 7:14. He moves with great power,
love, and miracles when His own people together fall on their faces before Him
in humility, broken hearts, and serious intercession.
The present condition of the nation of Haiti is one of great deception. Many
short-term mission teams travel to Haiti each day; we recognize them by their
matching T-shirts on every flight we take to and from the country. Most of the
reports we hear from these people on their way back home is so positive: “The
Haitian people are all so friendly and nice. The Christians have such a deep
and personal faith. They love to pray and worship will all their hearts; they
are so expressive when they sing to the Lord. They’re all so happy even though
they are so poor.”
Of course all of this is a serious deception. There is a true beauty and
wonder that the Lord created in the Haitian people, but Satan rules the
country with a strong hand, and the most godly possibilities of the nation
have been crushed under his rule. Both inside and outside the Church, the most
ruling emotion of the people is not joy or happiness, but rather anger.
Underlying that anger and feeding it are pride, jealousy, division, and
idolatry. Underneath what looks like heartfelt adoration and worship are the
prayers of a religious spirit which cries out for money, possessions, and US
visas but rarely for the ruling presence and power of God against sin and
evil. There is an unwritten but universally-obeyed law forbidding anyone to
confess their sins, and if pastors or elders are living in sin, nothing is
ever said even if every member of the church knows it.
All of this emanates from multitudes of “false conversions,” where certain
actions, doctrines, and practices are adopted in “becoming a Christian,” while
the heart, attitudes, inner life, and hidden sins remain untouched and
unchanged.
Please understand that I do not say these from a heart of
anger or judgment, but simply as the truth about the Church of Jesus Christ in
Haiti. If the Lord had called me to minister to His Body in the United States,
the truth I would speak would be of different issues, but the fact that the
Church is not at all what the Lord calls it to be, and my grief over that
situation, would be the same.
Notice that I don’t say that we are called to be THE agent
of revival, but simply one of them. Almost all the missions that I know of in
Haiti are involved in either leadership training (Bible Schools, short-term
leadership schools, conferences and seminars) or, most common of all, aid to
churches or society (building churches, schools, orphanages, raising support
for indigenous Christian workers, feeding/clothing distribution,
medical/dental work). I know of only a couple other ministries whose work is
directly aimed at national revival or even renewal ministries to churches of
all denominations. Yet I’m sure there are more than I know nothing about, and
we take our place among them.
As “apostolic agents of revival,” we see it as our task to:
€proclaim a message of revival to the whole church, a message that the Lord
has burned deep into my heart,
€demonstrate and direct the whole Church into true praise and worship,
effective prayer, spiritual warfare and deliverance, and a demonstration of
both love that will replace the pride and anger which currently fuels the
Church and nation,
€draw the Church, congregation by congregation and then in public mass
meetings, to repent on its knees for the sins of the nation, counting itself
the most guilty and responsible for Satan’s victories over the past two
hundred years, and finally,
€call the Church to an effective unity, not in doctrine or theology, but in
prayer, worship, and warfare, and after that in the truest expression of love
and service to the unsaved, until multitudes are drawn to carry their
nearly-destroyed selves and nation into the saving arms of Jesus.
God is preparing us to once again take hold of the vision He originally gave
us when we began our full-time work in Haiti. We’ve been through so much since
that time, so much that had brought us nearly to the quitting point, but as I
said in a newsletter a couple months ago, it simply broke us in the way God
wants all of us to be broken in our calling before Him.
In the meantime, we are committing ourselves and this ministry to be obedient
to Him in every way, first in completing the adoptions that are in our hands.
Sixteen children are still in that process. We believe that four of them will
be completed within the next ten days, then five more within a couple of weeks
after that. Please pray with us that all the children will soon be home in the
US with their adoptive families, and that we will be able to thank the Lord
for all he did through this time of adoptions, and then that we will be able
to move on to concentrate solely on our calling to national revival.
We know that the revival ministry to which we are called includes:
1) Getting the Message Out
Through multi-church events, through radio and TV ministries, through
mass public events, and also city by city, town by town, village by village.
2) Demonstrating True Spiritual Worship
Through completing the music project — a new songbook with
demonstration tapes of each song, through continuing the radio ministry that
has already brought these songs to every corner of the nation, and again
through multi-church worship events.
3) House of Prayer for the Nation
We firmly believe that the Lord is calling for a House of Prayer to be
raised up in the village of Chaudeau where prayer and worship for revival will
be lifted up 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. First we seek the individuals or
organization called to carry this vision into reality, and then the
consecration of prayer itself in this place long before any actual
construction would take place. Prayer must precede the house, or we will
simply have another building that does not fulfill its purpose in being built!
4) Leadership Training Centers for Pastors and Worship Leaders
Not only to re-teach and retrain leaders in the true meaning and
experience of “The Church of Jesus Christ,” but even more important, to
minister directly through prayer, worship, and deliverance ministries into the
hearts of God’s called and ordained spiritual leaders for the nation.
5) The Army of Children
A longtime dream of raising up the spiritual leaders of the future by
equipping the youngest of children today in ministries of worship, prayer,
intercession, spiritual warfare, healing, and deliverance, raising up children
who will insure to the next generation that Haiti will remain in Jesus’ hands
and not be returned to evil.
In earlier times, when Haiti was France’s richest colony in all the world, it
was known as the “Pearl of the Antilles.” We pray that, by God’s grace, we
will yet see that PEARL restored to its original luster, and we are preparing
our hearts to be obedient to the call of Jesus, who said,
“Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.
When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and
bought it.”

Thousands of Haitian Christians united recently for a national day of prayer
to counter a voodoo pact supported by the Caribbean nation's president.
Missions researcher George Otis Jr., whose award-winning video documentaries
"Transformations" chronicle prayer and revival movements worldwide, said "Aug.
14, 2003 will go down in the annals of mission history," Assist News Service (ANS)
reported.
"It was to be the day that the voodoo witchdoctors would lead Haiti in the
re-ratification of the 200-year-old blood pact with the devil," said Otis,
noting that President Jean-Bertrand Aristide "did everything in his power to
support that diabolical pact."
"In April this year, Aristide passed a law recognizing voodoo as a valid
Haitian religion," added Otis, who arrived in Haiti Aug. 10. "... He even flew
in over 400 voodoo practitioners for the 14th -- mostly from West Africa, the
home of voodoo."
However, a group of churches organized a national day of prayer. Otis visited
several churches in Port-au-Prince, which had thousands praying.
Terry Snow, director of Youth With A Mission in Haiti, said Christians were
sent to spy on the witchdoctors who were planning to have a blood sacrifice at
the site where the original pact with the devil was made that reportedly
exchanged the soul of Haiti for victory over the French.
"The spies reported that they saw many animals brought to do sacrifices --
pigs, goats and chickens," he said, ANS reported. "However, there arose a lot
of confusion -- with people arguing, etc. As a result, everyone disbanded and
not one sacrifice was made."
However, another effort to renew the satanic covenant is reportedly planned
for Jan.1 -- Haiti's national day of independence, Christian Aid Mission said.

Extracted from Harvest Evangelism Report, Edgardo Silvoso ( September issue,
Argentina)
As we can see in human history, all God's movement was preceded by intense
prayer. The Lord orders us in 2nd Chronicles 7.14, that His people must
humiliate, pray, come back from any evil way of life, in order to forgive all
iniquities and heal the nation. It works ! Firstly, because the Bible told us
so. And also, because we could see it clearly after a prayer experience in
five Argentina's provinces last year, connected in five strategic locations:
Misiones (the East of our country), Salta (North), Mendoza (West), Tierra del
Fuego (South) and Rosario (our
country´s Center) putting a prayer cover over our country.
On the following week, it was completed during Harvest Evangelism
Conference, in Mar del Plata and La Plata. Here there are parts of this
intercession work´s fruits.
Misiones and Salta --Pastor Eduardo Ortiz reported that in Misiones,
intercession was focused in exposing hidden evil works and an economical
reactivation. One week later, local press communicated that an Al-Qaeda´s
terrorist´s group was discovered and was put out , in Misiones's jungle. By
the other way, a reactivation in the communication among the rivers with
neighbouring countries, brought again to life local economy. Recently,
Misiones governor expressed his satisfaction for having , among the members of
his team, to an evangelical pastor. He said that this pastor's influence had
been so positive, that he considered him as his next immediate partner in
future elections.
In Salta, pastor Eduardo Moreno gave us the information of two noticeable
miracles, whose report appeared in public press. The first one, was a record
taxes collection. The second one, a highly valuable mineral mine, with a great
profitable potential .
Rosario -- As pastor Aldo Martín reported, since long time ago Christian
church in Rosario made a prayer wall . This prayer cover in 2002 year, was one
more sand grain in those wall. These effort produced visible results, and an
new city is arising now. (Some accomplishments): Rosario Port was re-opened,
and one thousand and two hundred people got a new job there. Rosario-Victoria
bridge build up was finally ended. In these last months, Rosario city was the
one which mostly created new jobs for unemployed people. Indeed, Rosario is a
peaceful
City. Pastors had a meeting with the intendant, who quoted last months
statistics , that showed a significant decrease of kidnappings and violent
deaths.
Tierra del Fuego -- Pastor Roberto Espino told us that after our intercession
effort, 2002´s year governor, his church prayed for Carlos Manfredotti, his
wife, and part of his team, when they attended one of there meetings. Two days
later, the governor's wife invited to two wife's pastors to a meeting in the
governor's office. As a final result, the governor and his wife received to
Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour.
As a response to pastor´s suggestion, the governor made a prayer consecrating
Tierra Del Fuego province to our Lord Jesus. This event created a legal basis,
for God's command to send angels to minister in that province. Already God's
favour is beginning to be seen in the natural world.
Mar del Plata -- During last year´s conference, attendants visited to a two
thousand disappointed business men by economical recession. In February,
newspapers informed that this was the best summer tourist season in last
years, and in July, new shops were being opened.
La Plata -- After a long years period of damage, shipyard Santiago River, in
La Plata (Buenos Aires province), began to work fully again. As pastor Juan
Zucarelli reported us, this new beginning benefits directly to more than five
thousand of workers who had been unemployed, for a wrong administration and
corruption as well. This reactivation was caused as a consequence of the
steadfastness of a group of believers who made an intercession covenant and
did not give up to loose their job. They had received a Lord's promise that
they could and they should redeem that employment source. A labour union
Christian leader challenged to workers and former bosses to repent for past
corruption, and to make a new covenant with God, in order to let the shipyard
to be opened again. Miraculously, all of them agreed, and in a short time
later, reactivation began. We can see clearly that all these events happened
as a direct consequence of a prayer cover which was put in prayer on these
five provinces.

Ester Long.

Harvest Evangelism called a special prayer day, beginning on its International
Conference in Mar del Plata city, on October 25th.
On that day, this prayer event will be seen on the TV screen, along all
country provinces and in Buenos Aires as well ( by means of the Official
Argentine TV Channel, ATC).
Edgardo Silvoso, from Harvest Evangelism, wrote in El Puente, September issue,
about the outreach of this prayer movement.
After giving a short account of the remarkable results in our society and
churches last year ( a prior similar experience, made in only five provinces
), he said:
"If this testimonies are edifying and encouraging us, let's imagine for a
moment, what may be the possible result of a spiritual prayer cover ( not only
in five provinces) but all along our country as well.
We will invite in every city to local authorities for receiving our
prayers upon them. We also will give them different social aid projects. We
want to show Christ's love and Church's compromise with our nation-".
This is a brief account of a complete report given by our brother Edgardo .
When I read Harvest Evangelism advertisement in the same issue, I discovered a
love detail from this organization which shows the spirit of love and unity
linking all these prayer movements: After giving the information of place,
preachers and schedules, there is a written phrase at the bottom of the ad :
" All these activities are promoting and are added to the CNE’ s prayer
call on November 1st in the Obelisco".

10,000 young Christians pray and fast in Berlin
On 16 August around 10,000 young Christians from Germany, Switzerland and
Austria gathered for The Call Berlin, a day-long prayer event in the Spirit of
the Moravian revival. Many of the young people had joined a 40-day fast in
preparation, and one week before and after the event a 24-7 (non-stop) prayer
room was in operation.
Rosemarie Stresemann reports: "There were no names announced in advance, no
band, nothing - only a call to fast and pray. Also on the day itself those who
were leading from the three nations worked wonderfully together and no
attention was drawn away from the Lord. Very strong prophetic dances
underlined what the Lord wanted to tell his people and I felt warrior angels
had arrived from Heaven." The main prayer issues were reconciliation between
the generations, confession of historic sins, a call to become radical and
love the Lord sacrificially, prayer and fasting as a lifestyle, the spiritual
heritage of Herrnhut, and the blessing of Israel and other nations.
"I felt that the reconciliation between the generations is not an end in
itself but a necessary prerequisite for protection of the new radical movement
the Lord pours out on the young people," says Stresemann. "Because the enemy
always tries to push us into extremes when he cannot hinder us to follow the
Lord. The Call Berlin has shown that young people in the German speaking
nations hunger to be challenged spiritually and that they are ready to take
the challenge and go for it."

I'm en route back to Oregon from leading three totally astounding Leaders
Prayer Summits in New Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai, India. In each venue, The
Lord came with surprisingly strong presence and power, pouring out the Psalm
133 favor and anointing. A pure, powerful prophetic word came forth through
many confirming Scriptures, that this is a season of divine favor for the
nation, and that God is bringing revival of holiness and a giving of fresh
wine to the Church, and that multitudes held in demonic darkness will be set
free and swept into the kingdom. In spite of increasing opposition, beatings,
martyrdom, anti-Conversion laws, etc...this harvest is increasing.
The past three weeks have been simply above and beyond any Ephesians 3:20
prayer I've ever uttered. I'm humbled and deeply grateful to have just
witnessed the sovereign grace of God being released on a nation. Solid city
transformation teams are also now established in these cities, with numerous
other cities in line to follow suit. They are networking and beginning to
cross-fertilize what they are learning, and sending anointed emissaries out to
these other cities. Something profound is in the works in this nation.
