€CHURCH COALITION IN ROCHESTER, NY
>From: Religion Today <editor@religiontoday.com>
A coalition of churches wants to distribute a videotape about the life of Jesus to every home in Rochester, N.Y., and the surrounding communities. About 20 churches, most of them members of the Greater Rochester Association of Evangelicals, are trying to raise $760,000 to pay for mailing more than 300,000 copies of the video Jesus, made by Campus Crusade for Christ, by Christmas. A response card will be included with each video for those interested in learning more about Jesus Christ. "We’d like people to simply understand who Jesus is. Everyone has to decide for themselves what to do with this video," Arthur Brown, who heads the evangelical association, told The New York Times.

From: "Mike Sheffield" <
msheffield@pnx.com>I am located in Jasper, TX. As you probably recall, Jasper is the location where the hate crime of the black man, Mr. James Byrd, occurred last June. God has been doing some awesome things here since that occurrence. Many pastors are coming together in Jasper County and we are seeing a powerful move of God across denominational lines. Thank you so much for all you are doing in bringing this endeavor together. You probably are familiar with Pastor Charles Burchette, First Baptist Church in Kirbyville; he has been aware of your work for several years. He and I have been praying together with many other pastors for more than 4 years. God bless you.

Dear Jack, and Phil,
I too am so pleased with all God is doing. We are going to see Transformed
cities in America and around the world. I just returned last evening from a
Turkey Medical Relief Team. The disaster is beyond description. We had three
tents to work in and work we did. I do have some marvelous stories that I
will later send out. God met us in such powerful ways. Turkey is in a Kairos
time for the gospel. The Muslims are all asking us to pray for them in Isas name Jesus. God bless your ever endeavor.

€THE CHICAGO CHALLENGE
>From: "Adam Shields" <arshield@midway.uchicago.edu>
When Babe Ruth was putting up his incredible home run numbers, his New York Yankees were always in the thick of the pennant race. Unfortunately, Sammy Sosa is playing for a last place club with no chance of making post-season play. So yes, it’s exciting to have a stand-out player, but not nearly what it would be like if the Cubs were winning consistently.
Chicagoland also has some outstanding local churches. But the overall church picture is presently not one of excitement and front-page news. However, an increasing number of Chicagoland lighthouse pastors believe that can change.
With a conviction that God wants to do a new thing in his church in and around this city, they have issued the Chicago Challenge. It states, "We believe 2000 pastors who commit to personal involvement in a lighthouse of prayer and then lead their congregations in establishing lighthouses can begin a decade of effective evangelism throughout the greater Chicago area." Visit our website at www.chicago2000.net/lighthouse/ for further details.
If you haven’t already done so, please reserve Friday, October 8th at 7:30pm on your calendar. This is an incredibly IMPORTANT evening. It is the official introduction of the Chicago Challenge at a dessert reception. It comes at the end of the annual national meeting of Mission America. That’s why this Friday night event for Chicagoland pastors and spouses will be hosted by Henry Blackaby, Bill Bright, Paul Cedar, George McKinney, Tom Pelton, John Perkins, Becky Pippert, Bob Reccord, Ed Silvoso, Al Vander Griend, and Sammy Sosa (joking about Sammy Sosa).
There is no cost but reservations are strongly recommended.
Contact us immediately to reserve places for you and your spouse. Pass this invitation along to other Chicagoland pastors you know who are interested in becoming a part of Chicago 2000 and the Lighthouse Movement. The reception will be held at the Holiday Inn O’Hare, 5440 North River Road in Rosemont.
Two dates to be aware of prior to that event are:
Whether a given mega-church pastor signs on for the Chicago Challenge isn’t the issue. What’s important is that the overall Chicagoland church team begins to show new signs of life. We can all do something about that. Let us hear from you soon.
A message from David Mains and Phil Miglioratti.

€CITYWIDE EVANGELISM STRATEGIES, HOUSTON, TX
>From: Henry Dibrell <tpmail@tpmi.org>
Dear Pastor:
I encourage you to join us for the next Somebody Cares Ministers Meeting on Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at Lakewood Church. Worship begins at 9 AM and the meeting runs from 10 AM - Noon. We are honored that Sister Dodie and the church family of Lakewood have opened their household of faith to us. We will be discussing two citywide evangelistic strategies for the Fall.
STRATEGY # 1
Heal Our Land-Houston is an Interactive Prayer Musical comprised of a citywide mass choir based on 2 Chron. 7:14. Houston area pastors will lead in prayer for our city, for city officials and for the nation. Somebody Cares® Houston will host this corporate gathering on October 29, 1999, 7:30 p.m. at Lakewood Church. As 8,000 people fill the church, we will worship together and stand in the gap for our city and nation.
Each attendee will be encouraged to sign up for Occupy The Land and become a Lighthouse of Prayer. Each attendee will also have the opportunity to link with compassion ministries to reach out to Houston in tangible ways.
Pastor, we believe this is a significant gathering as we cross denominational and racial lines. It’s not unity for unity sake. It’s unity for the sake of SOULS! We would like you and your congregation to participate.
STRATEGY # 2
The Book of Hope is the largest Bible campaign in history. Somebody Cares®Houston is joining with CBN to see our area saturated with 250,000 Books of Hope.
A 2-Week Bible Blitz - Last week of October - First week of November Simultaneously local media announcements will be made on all major networks, including MTV. These commercials can potentially reach the 6.5 million viewing audience of Houston and surrounding regions. A Book of Hope put inside a door hanger, will be placed at homes throughout Houston and surrounding areas.
A church in one city gave this report following the Book of Hope campaign. "The first Sunday after the outreach, 284 people came forward to receive Christ."
Imagine next Sunday morning 250,000 additional people showed up at church. What would we do? One church couldn’t handle it but together as the church of Houston, we could. Potentially this can happen as we partner together.
To reserve seating, RSVP the Somebody Cares office as soon as possible:
713 621 1498.

€PRAY MINNESOTA
>From: "Steve Loopstra" <paststeve@earthlink.net>
It is time for us to ask the nation to be lifting up "Pray Minnesota!" "Pray Minnesota!" is a statewide gathering of prayer, October 7-9th at Emmanuel Christian Center in Spring Lake Park, Minnesota. It was birthed in response to the clear call of the Lord that, "It is time to call the intercessors together."
"Pray Minnesota!" is intentionally not being called a "conference" as such. Our vision is not to have people gather for "who" is there, but come because "everyone" will be there. Under the banner of "Strategic Prayer for Strategic Times", the vision of "Pray Minnesota!" is to rally people from every city, community and town in the state together for the purpose of encouragement, teaching and networking. We want to encourage those faithful intercessors who have been faithfully praying in obedience to the Lord for years and year, or maybe have just heard the call of God to pray. We want to cast before them a vision of a "networked state" for prayer. The picture is of a "greenhouse." A greenhouse provides a covering, so that what is underneath is protected from the harsh "atmosphere" above (Satan is the prince of the power of the air), and it also forms an atmosphere of growth under its protection. "Pray Minnesota!" wants to build that covering of prayer over the whole state to build an atmosphere where the "seedlings" that God has planted in the ground can grow, flourish and bring forth the fruit of revival.
Francis Frangipane and Evelyn Christenson will be our speakers, with continuing praise and worship. Workshops on Friday afternoon, and on Saturday afternoon we will have a time when intercessors from across the state will "network" with those in their area. Please pray for "Pray Minnesota!" Pray for intercessors to hear the call of the Spirit of God to come together. Pray for the Spirit to draw all who need to come. Now, we need the prayers of the nation to lift us before the Throne, that the Father will come and meet us.
"Pray Minnesota!" is sponsored by Midwest Concerts of Prayer and the Minnesota Prayer Coalition. For more information on "Pray Minnesota!" you can call Midwest Concerts of Prayer at 612-853-8448, fax us at 612-853-8488, email us at: mcop@mcop.org or register online by visiting our website at: www.mcop.org Thank you for standing with us in this historic and strategic meeting.
Your servant in Christ, Steve Loopstra, Midwest Concerts of Prayer

€TOOL FOR SPIRITUAL MAPPING-?
Chicago Historical Exhibition Preview Breakfast
September 21, 1999, 8 a.m.
Dear Pastor Phil Miglioratti:
I spoke with and met Dr. Lutzer’s secretary Patty today about a Preview and Breakfast planned for Tuesday, September 21, 1999 at the Chicago Historical Society for Ministers and other religious leaders. She told me that ministers had been invited to Moody Memorial for Prayer on the same day. Also, that you might be interested in extending our invitation to the ministers on your mailing list.
We, at CHS would appreciate anything you can do to help us spread the word about preview and breakfast as well as the opening of the two exhibitions:
That’s Good News! Chicago and the Birth of Gospel Music, Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17; Wade in the Water: African American Sacred Music Traditions, Saturday, November 20 and Sunday, November 21. In addition to the exhibitions, we will have live traditional and contemporary singing by choirs and groups based in Chicago. 312-642-4666 Extension 386 --->NPPNote: Consider viewing the exhibit before our Noon to 2:00pm Pastors Prayer Summit. All Pastors are invited to the mini-summt, at which time we will pray for the city and hear about the new Chicago Challenge.
