*PPG DIRECTORY UPDATE

As of June 21, we have approximately 220 Pastors’ Prayer Groups registered

in our directory - Please help us connect with the hundreds more who have

not visited us at: http://www.nppn.org/ppg/

Recently, at a meeting of pastors, I was told of a pastor who was transferred to another state. His initial hesitancy was due in part to having become part of a PPG, which he found at our NPPN site. His concerns were relieved when he again visited the NPPN site and found a PPG listed in the very town he was assigned to serve!

Let’s not rest until every pastor has a place of prayer with other pastors.

*TEXAS: PRAYER INITIATIVES AND REQUESTS

>From: PRAYTX@aol.com

July -  The Texas Transformation Tour will visit Lufkin (July 21-22) and

Tyler (July 28-29).  Please pray for local leaders in both cities as they

prepare, for all of the speakers who are giving their time to this Tour this

summer, for Pat Allen, Pray Texas Board member from Dallas, who is heading up the Tour for us.

Texas Prayer Wall - On August 1, we will kick off a special prayer emphasis for our state.  We will enlist at least 31 cities to commit to pray one day a month for five months for revival in Texas.  Pam Faraone, Pray Texas Board member from El Paso, will coordinate.  Please pray for Pam as she contacts prayer leaders around the state to ask for their help in erecting a wall of prayer around Texas.

Mapping Project - We have received a proposal for a project to do comprehensive spiritual mapping of the state.  This will be a two year project including mappers and intercessors from every region.  The project will be directed by Randy Skinner.  Please pray for Randy as he seeks the Lord’s direction.  He is exceptionally well qualified and experienced, but he must hear exactly what God has in mind for Texas if this effort is to succeed.  Please pray also for Alice and Gay Rowe, Pray Texas Development Director, as they approach donors to fund the project.  Ask the Lord to raise up the right people in each region.

Please pray for Gay as she puts together a comprehensive development plan

for

the ministry.  God has given us a big vision and a burden for the entire

state.  When we look at what He has allowed us to accomplish with very

limited funds, we are amazed.  We know He is calling us to a higher level,

as

He is continually opening doors of opportunity.  It will take a significant

increase in funding to accomplish all that He has put on our hearts.  Gay is

working with a wonderful group of talented professionals to give us the

tools

we need to bring more donors on board.  Target completion date for the

development packet is July 31.  Pray for the team as they work to complete

it

·       Richard Hilton, Jill Boyce, Patty Waterbury, Ron Allen, David Hankins, Alicia Formagus, John and Alice Patterson, and myself.  Pray for Gay and Alice who will bear the responsibility to actually go out and ask people to give.

We are in a time of transition as we plan to open an office in San Antonio

soon.  John and Alice will be moving there as soon as they sell their house

in Odessa.  Operations will remain in the Odessa office.  This will give us

an expanded statewide reach with offices in three cities.  (Gay Rowe has the

Dallas office.)  Please be in prayer that the Pattersons will be able to sell their house and find just the right one in San Antonio.  Also pray for all of us as we plan for the many changes this will bring.

Pray Texas Board member Dan Aleman, founder of Oracion Explosiva and pastor of Creek Crossing Harvest Church in Mesquite, injured his back last week.  Dan is a key leader in bringing the races and denominations together in the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metroplex and around the state.

Jack Landon is an intercessor from Dallas who is also a computer programming whiz.  He has designed a wonderful database for us and given many hours of his time to fine tuning it to meet our needs.  Jack needs a new heart— literally.  We are believing with him that God will give him one supernaturally.  Please join us in praying for him.

Mike Hays of Covenant Church in Carrollton is a very significant pastor for

that area.  His 16 year old son was hit by a car last week.  Please pray for

him.

Pray for Pastor Bruce Wood and Aldersgate Methodist Church in College Station as they are walking through a difficult time.

I think that’s all for now!  I hope I have not overwhelmed you.  Please know that we are well aware that the Lord does not give everyone the same burden.

If these needs don’t fall into your spiritual inbox, be blessed as you do what He has assigned for you.  Many of you, however, are faithful to pray for us, and we appreciate you more than I could express.  May the Father pour out His blessing on you and yours as you serve Him and His body.

Gratefully, Cathe Halford

*FLORIDA: JESUS VIDEO TO 600,000 HOMES

>From: praycf@juno.com

Jesus Video Distribution - Vision Orlando plans to distribute the Jesus film to 600,000 homes in Central Florida (Seminole, Orange and Osceola Counties) this fall. Most of the money needed has been pledged but a large amount is still needed. Please pray for the remaining funds and supernatural provision so the pledges can be paid. For information or to receive a free copy of the Jesus Video Distribution promotional video call Chet at 407-351-8942. Also prepare yourself to share with your neighbors when they receive JESUS by mail! The best preparation for both you and your neighbors is to become a Lighthouse of prayer - praying for your neighbors and building relationships with them. Then when the Jesus video is mailed you can go next door and say “Have you seen Jesus?”

*PRAYER WATCH: A BURDEN FOR NEW ENGLAND

>From: NECPrayer@cs.com

NEW ENGLAND CONCERTS OF PRAYER: PRAYER LINK BULLETIN # 16

On Wednesday, June 7 New England Concerts of Prayer is sponsoring a

meeting in conjunction with the North Shore Pastors meeting and other

interested pastors in the region to discuss a strategy for a prayer watch or

building a prayer wall around the North Shore and New England area.  We hope

to seek the Lord together and to discover how each church is to fit in the strategy to cooperatively prayer for revival evangelism of this region.  In the discussions among the pastors thus far there has been a good deal of interest in the idea that the lord is leading us to accomplish His purpose.

The following is a short proposal on how we might implement this plan.

The millennium has arrived and tremendous change is upon us.  It is a

critical year and the Lord has given me a burden to call for a New England

wide prayer watch, to build a wall of prayer around New England so that it

is

blanketed with prayer.  Perhaps the best example historically was the famous

Moravian Community of Hernhutt, the Lord’s Watch.  The Moravians maintained this 24 hour prayer for one hundred years.  It fueled the modern missions and revival movements.  There is an obvious conflict between darkness and light and it will be decided by prayer.

The goal is that every community in New England be covered with prayer for

the community, New England, and the Nation.  My proposal would be that each

church can play a part of building the prayer wall.  Like the example we have

in the Book of Nehemiah, were every clan took part in rebuilding the wall

around Jerusalem.  I am suggesting that number of Pastors and Prayer leaders

come together for a consultation as to how this can be achieved.

We should be praying for these areas in every community 1.  The church 2.  The government, town council courts, police, etc., and on the statewide and national the judicial, legislative and executive.  Especially this election year.

3.  The media

4.  Schools and all educational institutions

5.  Neighborhoods

6.  Business

My suggestion is that the Pastors prayer groups consider this as part of their agenda.  That each church consider taking 1 day a week to fast and pray for their community, New England, their state and the nation.

That each church have 1 corporate prayer meeting on that day.  And that each

church have a 24 hour prayer watch for that day.  People in the churches can

sign up for 1 hour segments of time or whatever seems feasible.  A prayer school is being designed to help train people who would like to participate.

There are some churches that have daily prayer now.  Some weekly.  Some are trying to pray 24 hours around the clock.  Others have no formal prayer mechanisms other than Sunday service.  But all can participate if they desire.

Would you consider being part of the discussion leading towards New England being covered with prayer?

Due to people catching the vision God has given there have been awesome results.  The Spanish church in Salem prays 5 days a week and have seen people coming to the Lord every week.  Last week 10 people were saved.  Yeah!!!!!!  God is working.  There have been a number of Jewish attorneys who just came to the Lord at Christian Renewal Church in Salem, Pastor Joe Kost’s church.  One Jewish banker came into Pastor Loe Bardalado’s church one day off the street and accepted Christ.  This is a result of tremendous prayer.

Keep it up.!!!!!

*MISSION HOUSTON: THE NEXT STEP AFTER PRAYER IS...?

>From: “Jim Herrington” <jhmh@flash.net>

Transformation is the buzz word of the day.  Across the U.S., Christian are abuzz with God’s activity in transforming entire cities.  The “Transformations” video has been used as a catalyst to engender a sense of hope that God will bring a reversal of the trends to which our nation is in bondage - outrageous crime, fractured families, deeply embedded poverty, and life-threatening prejudice.

A growing number of Houston churches are being captured by the message of transformation with its underlying call to prayer and unity.  Many efforts have emerged from city-wide ministries like Somebody Cares, CJ Crusade, Prayer and Praise, and NOW (Night of Worship).  Local churches and denominational judicatories are also sponsoring a variety of prayer and unity efforts.

For the past 18 months Mission Houston has focused on two efforts:

mobilizing small groups of pastors to pray for personal renewal, congregational revival, and community transformation; and hosting city-wide prayer gatherings like the Pastors’ Prayer Summit.

As a team, the Mission Houston staff is sensing in our spirits that the time has come to take the next step.  We will continue fostering prayer gatherings for pastors, and we will host the 4th Annual Pastors’ Prayer Summit March 2/-3, 2000.  But we believe that prayer and unity are means to the end that tens of thousands will be swept into the Kingdom of God.  As my friend Doug Stringer says - it’s not unity, but unity with a purpose.  I believe the Lord is calling us to take the next steps toward the transformation of the city.

Will you join us in praying that God will make the next steps clear for Mission Houston?  I frequently say, “If you keep doing what you’ve been doing, you’ll keep getting what you’ve been getting.”  We must resist the temptation to just work harder at what we already know to do and then expect improved results.  I’m believe the next steps will call us to different ways of thinking, will require significant risk taking, and will demand life-changing obedience to the Lord as He calls us farther and farther from our comfort zones.

On September 18/19 we hope to gather the Leadership Team for Mission Houston with the Leadership Teams from each of the prayer gatherings across the Greater Houston area for a 24 hour retreat.  There we will explore what God is saying regarding the next steps for Mission Houston.  I’m asking every praying person who values this ministry to pray daily this summer that we will have the wisdom to hear God’s voice and the courage to follow.  As those next steps come clear, we will share that information with you.

Blessings, Jim Herrington

*CHICAGO, SW SUBURBS: NEW CHURCH NEEDS HELP

>From: Rick Gates <rwgates@highpointchurch.net>

Dear Colleagues in Ministry,

High Point is a brand new church plant targeting the S.W. Chicago Suburbs of Hickory Hills, Palos Hills and Worth.  We are a seeker targeted church.  We are still quite small and are doing monthly preview services now through August. In September we will move to weekly Sunday Morning Services.  We are trying to put together a team of folks who are either borrowed from other churches for occasional help for the months of Sept., 2000-Jan., 2001 or who are interested in joining the team permanently and helping reach this area which has had no new church in about 30 years.

You may follow this link   http://www.highpointchurch.net/swat.html <http://www.highpointchurch.net/swat.html>  directly to our web site for details on this ministry request.. Please review  this and respond to inform me if there is any way that some of the volunteers in your ministry can be of assistance.  Please feel free to pass this information along to any else you think might have an interest.  Perhaps our greatest need in the area of musicians. Feel free to call if you have any questions.

Thank you and God bless you.

*SAN JOSE, CA: RESEARCHERS & DEMOGRAPHERS

>From: “Pam Olsen Florida Prayer Network” <flprayer@gte.net>

Prayer Transformation Ministries City Reaching Consultation Meeting, July 10-11, San Jose: One of the most strategic functions in city reaching/transformation is the gathering, evaluating and communication of critical information.  This process is usually divided into two parts; information on the harvest force,(local churches, ministries, etc.) and information on the harvest field, (demographics, socio-economics, etc.).  Several kinds of software are now being employed in this field and much has been discovered on where to find information and how to process it.  In addition we are learning how to connect this information to the local church and the church in the city.   As a result of the growth in this area, we are seeking to bring together those who are involved in this kind of research and information management for a 2 day consultation.  While the focus will be on practitioners, we also invite city leaders who might want to know how all this works together even though they don’t have someone filling this role at this time.  We will hold the consultation in San Jose, July 10-11.  Our meetings will take place in a local church where Christian Resource Network has their offices.  A list of local hotels is available.  If you are interested in this consultation or know someone who should get an invitation, please contact us at Prayer Transformation Ministries, 612-278-1717 or send an email to John Qualm at JQuam@prodigy.net. There is no registration fee but each person will be responsible for their own travel and expenses.

*MINISTERS, NOT MESSIAHS

>From: PastorsInPrayer@aol.com

As pastors/leaders we are to be conduits.  We must not call  attention  to ourselves but to Christ and the message He gives through us to others.  A dear friend from the United Kingdom sent me this thought entitled, “The Road Ahead.”

Blessings - bob and marilyn yawberg - Pastors In Prayer # 27

“It helps, now and then, to step back and take the long view.  We accomplish in our lifetime only a tiny fraction of the magnificent enterprise that is God’s work.

We plant seeds that one day will grow.

We water seeds already planted, knowing they hold future promise.

We lay foundations that will need further development.

We provide yeast that produces effects far beyond our capabilities.  We may never see the end results, but that is the difference between the master builder and the worker.

We are workers, not master builders; ministers not messiahs.  We are

prophets of a future not our own.”     Oscar Romero

My name is Carl Duncan. I have been called to the Ministry of Reconciliation. I am preparing to begin an efort to bring together several ethnically diverse local ministries, in the Inland Empire of Southern California. I will begin locally in Rialto, California. I am responding to the call of the Lord and relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. I am stepping out on this without any other help. The Lord will add to this ordained effort.

I am asking for two things. 1) Prayer. 2) Assistance in the form of ideas, testimonies, outlines, anything, that may be an aid as I prepare to obey this call.

*NEW CASTLE, IN: PPG CHURCHES CELEBRATE TOGETHER

>From: “Park Place Free Methodist Church” <ppfmc@nltc.net>

I would like to report about a service which may be unique in America.  As an outgrowth of our pastors’ prayer group, five churches organized a joint Pentecost celebration. The celebration was at 10:00 AM on Pentecost at a high school auditorium. When we started talking about doing something together to celebrate the birth of the church we decided that it needed to be during our main worship time. All of the churches moved all of their Sunday morning activities to the auditorium for the combined worship celebration. Although the pastors of the five churches made the decision to go with the service, the actual planning of the service was handled by a team of worship leaders from the five churches. Worship was led by a 9 person praise band, 5 person praise team, and ~140 person choir. All five churches were represented in that worship team along with some individuals from other churches who wanted to participate in the choir. The attendance was approximately 950 (accurate estimate). The five churches participating were American Baptist, Church of God - Anderson, Foursquare Gospel, Free Methodist, and Independent Charismatic.

The speaker came from Anderson University School of Theology. The only pastor who was featured on the platform was the Church of God pastor who welcomed the congregation and introduced the speaker at the very beginning of the service. It was a great time of worship and celebration of the fact that there is “one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.” There was no grandstanding or competition, no seeking after recognition. To God be all of the glory.

Thank you so much for your tireless work in supporting pastors.  Frankly, I am often overwhelmed by the amount of information available to report what God is doing.  I praise Him for that “problem”.

--->NPPNote: We are aware of this problem and simply hope individual readers will let the Holy Spirit guide them to what they need to read and respond to in each Update...

I serve with International Renewal Ministries throughout the State of Washington.  One of my main projects the next several months will be to discover and visit as many of the 80-100 such groups in our state.  I know of about 50 of them now, and have been serving many of those groups for years.

--->NPPNote: We are confident this is similar to most other states - Which is why we believe Jesus has already started the 2,000 PPGs mentioned in NPPN vision statement - Our job is to find one another!

I notice from the first part of your email that 3 Washington pastors’ groups have registered with NPPN.  We are in the process of creating a website for Washington State pastors’ prayer groups, intercessors’ groups, and groups that are praying for our schools throughout Washington.  How can we best link with one another?  How do pastors’ groups register with NPPN?

God’s best to you, Steve Hall

--->NPPNote: We welcome PPG leaders registering their group as well as PPG network leaders registering all the groups in heir network. Find us at:

*VACAVILLE, CA: PPG & CITY COUNCIL

>From: SUSETAVET@aol.com

The Lord is doing great things in our city of Vacaville.  We are seeing a sincere love of the Body of Christ in our city.  We have Pastors from different churches praying for each other & each other’s churches.  Our city council has blessed us & we are blessing them as we partner with them in praying for our city to be “A Place of Peace”...which has been placed on a sign entering our city from the North. It is evident that the Lord is moving here.

I have heard that about 25% of our population attend church ...t hat is “good”, but that is not enough!  We are praying for the Body of Christ to be “one”  as Christ & the Father are One...as Christ prayed in the garden before He was  crucified.  It was His desire & we are excited to have it become ours as  well.  “...that the world may believe that You sent Me.”  So the lost may become found!

In the meantime, the enemy still roams about like a roaring lion.  We find  ourselves in difficult places...with unusually difficult troubles & challenges. The Lord has been reminding me that we may become victims of another person’s sins, but He will be there to close the mouth of the lion as He did for Daniel.  We need only to be faithful during these times; as faithful as Joseph, David & Daniel.

Would you pray for our city’s spiritual leaders?  I would like to ask you to pray for our church staffs...pastors, secretaries, worship leaders, teaching  leaders, prayer leaders & boards.  Please pray for their encouragement to  “...not grow weary in doing well.”  Please pray also for their protection as they operate in their calling, that they remain bold & pure in thought & deed.  One specific need is that two of our churches are in need of worship pastors...without these pastors, the other pastors & laity are becoming worn down.  Would you also pray they receive the “rest” and time with their families that they need to remain healthy in body & spirit.

In His Steps, Susan Ujiiye, Solano Gatekeepers
