?OUR
PURPOSE
National
and local Pastors¹ Prayer Group network leaders are being invited to attend a
strategic planning summit. This will be a gathering of men and women giving
leadership to the Pastors¹ Prayer Group movement across the nation.
Our
purpose is to bring together national and local leaders who are at the forefront
of the Pastors’ Prayer Group movement...
So that, in the fellowship of prayer, we may explore the vision Jesus
has for the future development of PPGs in our nation and across the globe... In order to discern how we might serve
together to encourage and equip those who lead national and local networks, as
well as those who lead a single PPG.
The
summit will begin with an evening of sharing our story (³How does the Lord use
you in the PPG movement?²) and praying together (³How does the Lord want us to
serve the PPG movement?²). Our Friday will be spent in a roundtable format;
listening, discussing, planning... What
is a PPG anyway?
What
vision has the Lord given us?
How do
PPGs begin? Develop?
What
nudging and nurturing are needed?
The
Pastor-Intercessor partnership...
How
does/should the National Pastors’ Prayer Network serve the movement? This meeting will also prepare the NPPN for
the Mission America Annual Meeting in October.
You are
invited to attend, if you network PPGs (seek to begin and guide) or if you
nurture PPGs (provide prayer covering or produce resources for) [Contact Phil
Miglioratti for specific details at: phil@nppn.org
or 847-991-0153].
All are
invited to pray for this gathering, that God will give us a unified vision for
serving the PPG movement in a collaborative way.

BOOKS OF HOPE, REVIVAL FIRES, HUGH HEFNER
>From:
John Hudson <josus@home.com>
Here are
Granville we are about to cover the neighborhood with 400 “Books of Hope”. We
are seeing many fires of renewal going on with meeting of pastors coming under
the power of prayer. The incident of putting up the street sign for Hugh
Heffner brought our local inter-faith group of religious leaders to 15 minutes
of prayer for the city of Chicago. This may not sound like much, but the group
usually operates with just a minimum of prayer. The same power of prayer is
increasing in a United Methodist cluster of pastors in NE Chicago. Still more
is happening through Cross and Crown Church, 3709 W. Ainslee, with gatherings
of pastors every other week at 12:30 p.m.
Grace and
peace, John Hudson, Pastor at Granville UMC

*POWAY, CA:
SERVING NOTICE
>From: “Jerry
Wilson” <jerber@hotmail.com>
Our
Pastor has a vision of turning a shopping center into a Christian Service
Center. We recently acquired space in a small strip Mall in Poway California.
The problem was a 22 year bar with a rough reputation, sitting at the end of
the building. It conflicted with the vision of a pre-school and youth center.
After we started to expand, a karate school folded in the night, and another
business asked if we could assume their space so the could relocate to larger
quarters. Still the bar. The owners asked Pastor Dan what he would do with the
space if it belonged to the church. The reply was a bookstore/coffee house. The
bar was served notice. Their last day, they emptied the place, then proceeded
to sit in the empty space, consuming the left-overs. As we began our mid-week
Bible study, it was obvious that several ‘patrons’ had bad feelings about the
bar closing. They were inside drinking, and smashing the bottles against a
block wall. Motorcycles were ridden inside. We began our study with concerns
for the preservation of our windows and signs.
About
8pm, we heard chants of ‘We’re outa beer.’ At 8:30, when our study ended, the
place was deserted, and dark. Amazingly, even the mess had been cleaned up and
taken to the dumpster.
We now
can begin removing the bar, replacing walls and fixtures, and dedicating the
space to serve God. For years, tenants had tried to get the bar closed, then
had moved out in despair. The center was acquired by Christian owners out of
receivership. Now God can show his purpose for the space.

Wilson - Poway California

Prayer
Movement Gains Ground in Oregon as Pastors Seek ‘Open Heaven’
Christians
are linking their cities in statewide prayer effort
A
strategy to spread a “prayer net” over Oregon, one of the least=churched states
in America, is gaining momentum after being launched in January, spawning
prayer retreats and drawing in representatives from all denominations.
More
than 85 pastors and intercessors who gathered Jan. 7-8 for the Open the Heavens
Over Oregon conference established the framework for a prayer net over the
state, said Tom White, chief mobilizer of the event. Participants who represented some 35 cities and towns gathered at
the Christian Retreat Center near Silver Falls State Park, 15 miles east of Salem.
“Out of
unity will come the reaching out to our cities,” said White, who lives in
Corvallis.
White is
not new at attempting to move people into action with prayer. In 1983, he
pioneered Frontline Ministries, a teaching organization that focuses on
spiritual warfare and intercession. He said his intention with the January
gathering was threefold: to unite key prayer intercessors to build a foundation
for personal relationships, and to “intentionally pray into redemptive purpose”
God’s direction for Oregon.
“We
wanted to do our best with leaning into Him and hearing what He’s saying to us,”
White said of the group’s first step.
He said
a foundation for personal relationships will be realized as cities partner with
one another in prayer. Conference participants paired city with city, such as
Salem with Bend, a move designed to create a statewide prayer front.
White
believes God wilt hear their prayers for a redemptive purpose for the church in
Oregon.
“By
linking the hearts of the faithful men and women, and combining that with
faith, I believe the Lord will hear our heart for our churches, our cities, our
state,” said White, who was appointed to the National Prayer Committee in March
and has roots in the Multnomah Bible College’s International Renewal Ministries
based in Portland.
The
ministry hosts prayer summits for pastors around the country, including a
well-attended event at Cannon Beach each June.
Conference
participant Martha Franklin said she wants her fellow Native American Indians
to know “there’s a God who cares about their daily lives.”
I want
Him to give them a new peace. We need your prayers,” added Franklin, who lives
on the Umatilla Indian Reservation near Pendleton.
Steve
Vowell of Boring likened the effort to forming a battle plan for a spiritual
war.
“We can
better direct our prayer if we know what’s needed around the state,” said
Vowell, who worked to network Mission Portland, a group that helps communicate
the activities of Portland missions groups and was this year’s state
coordinator for the National Day of Prayer.
Ron
Rohman of Portland added: “The term ‘open heavens’ probably means something
different to everyone. But to me, that indicates an open pipeline with God. Its
fruit is revival.”
Citywide
prayer rallies also are growing. In January, Corvallis
pastors
sponsored a rally that attracted
residents from throughout the
Willamette
Valley. Afterward, church leaders spent three days praying and
fasting
together at a retreat site.j
At the
same time, almost 200 Portland pastors took part in a four-day retreat. At its
conclusion, they led a prayer rally that drew 15,000 people.
“This
crosses all denominations,” White noted.
The
Open the Heavens conference united evangelical, Pentecostal and
mainline
denominations. Nationally and internationally, a growing number of prayer
movements are becoming multidenominational and multiethnic. The unusual openness
among church leaders for cooperation, prayer and evangelistic outreach has
reached the Pacific Northwest with a resounding bang, local pastors claim.
“We’ll
hold another conference like this in September just to speed up the process of
attracting the presence of God, resulting in revival and awakening,” White
said.
Evangelist
Luis Palau recently preached to more than 93,000 in Portland last August, and
tent meetings by evangelist Jerry Gaffney in November attracted thousands in
Sherwood. According to those who attended the Open the Heavens conference,
spiritual awakening has already begun.
“City-reaching
is the cutting paradigm of our time,” White said. “It’s wise to hitch our little cart to where God is going.” For
White and the others, the message is clear:
Revival belongs to Oregon, and it’s time to pray it in.

body of Christ in the local Princeton area and to pray for spiritual
breakthrough on the Princeton Campus and surrounding city. We plan to do this
by corporately seeking the Lord though intimate worship and prayer, according
to Zeck 8:20-21. If God has given you a heart to see our state transformed -

*CORVALLIS,
OREGON “EASTER 2000” GATHERING
>From:
“Tom White” <TomWhite07@compuserve.com>
The Good
Friday ad in the Corvallis Gazette Times declared, “We’re closing our doors and
going to Gill Coliseum” for an Easter celebration of Jesus’ resurrection.
Twenty-Eight churches (about 85% of local evangelical churches), and over
10,000 people (20% of Corvallis’ population), gathered to lift up our Risen
Lord and proclaim the hope of His gospel. The Monday front page article began, “The
largest gathering of Christians in the history of Benton County joined at Gill
Coliseum on Sunday to pray, sing and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus
Christ.”
Churches
and private donars covered all expenses up front. Insisting on excellence, we
provided the best sound, lighting, video and instruments available. A
sacrificial offering of $60,000 was received to bless the poor of our city.
Half will help build family units for a new homeless shelter, the other half
will fund a school district summer program for at-risk kids. We’ll be presenting checks at the county
courthouse on May 4, the National Day of Prayer.
Last
August, the “CitiChurch of Corvallis” Leadership Team was inspired by the
example of the churches of Little Rock, who pioneered a similar service. Our pastoral gatekeepers rose up by faith
and “went for it!” THE E2K GATHERING WAS LITERALLY SOAKED IN PRAYER. Pastors
have interceded weekly for the city since our tenth annual Prayer Summit in
February, 1999. We gather 3-4 times a year for united Concerts of Praise &
Prayer, and occasionally exchange pulpits. Ten days of 24 hour prayer for the
lost preceded our Easter gathering. United, fervent prayer has virtually become
part of our city’s “spiritual DNA.”
E2K is a
fulfillment of a 20 year prayer investment—leaders and intercessors began
united prayer in 1980. Between 1983 and 1989, inter-church prayer teams prayed
at the “high places,” power points of darkness, and around government offices,
schools, businesses, etc. We were faithful to “fill the bowls” of prayer (Rev.
5:8). Now the Lord is being gracious to “spill a bowl” of blessing on Corvallis
(Spanish, for “the Heart of the Valley”).
We begin
immediately to follow up on 50 first time decisions, 18 with questions, and 150
recommitments. We’re believing the Spirit of God to hover our our city with a
lingering spirit of conviction and redemption, bringing an acceleration of the
harvest.
The “High
Points” of E2K:
1. feeling
the delight of our Lord’s heart watching His people pour into the
Coliseum
2.
touching the deep joy of seeing the Body of Christ work, as He, our Head,
intended
3. pastors
rising as the city gatekeepers, leading in bold, expectant faith
4. fresh, unprecedented
favor with city officials, and wonderfully positive
media
coverage

PRODUCES UNITY
>From: newsupdate@charismanews.com

Churches
are celebrating a new level of unity in the heart of a region best known for
its separatists, anarchists and white supremacists. Pastors of 10 congregations
in Sandpoint, Idaho—not far from Ruby Ridge, scene of the FBI’s 1992 shootout
with white supremacist Randy Weaver and close to the home of other extremist
groups—linked for a “Make Us One” Easter celebration.
Around
2,500 people—half the town’s population—turned out for the event at the local
high school, which featured music from African American singer Sonya Kaye. “I
guess I am like the fly in the buttermilk,” she told the all-white audience.
Tony
Nelson, pastor of Sandpoint First Christian Church, said he believed the
spiritual breakthrough was due to consistent prayer by ministers who met
regularly to pray for revival. He and Bill Knepper, pastor of First Baptist Church,
drew applause when they told the crowd that the Sandpoint Christian community
would no longer tolerate racial hatred.
Ken
Lawrence, pastor of River of Life Fellowship said: “There is a definite move of
the Spirit in the sense of what is happening with the pastors coming together.”
He said that the theme of the Easter gathering had been Christian unity, but
had also been seen and appreciated by some as speaking out against racism.

When each
pastor was introduced every church applauded!
It was like we were
all part
of the same church! We have more than
12 pastors and churches involved all ministering in the same city of 33,000.
Revival
2000 has been more than 25 years in the making! Tonight, May 1,
2000
Christians
gathered from more than 12 local churches under the big red and
white tent
on the corner of Hollenbeck and Rowland. From the minute Chaplain
Dave
Truax stood up to welcome the event to the City of Covina, the dynamic presence
of the Holy Spirit just flowed in!
Sylvester
Blue and his family began to worship and praise God! And it was heaven on earth.
Pastor Ken Clowdus spoke a powerful message on “It’s Your Choice,” and
when it was time for the altar call many came forward to receive Jesus for the
first time. And, others came forward to
renew their commitment to the Lord!
Pastors ministered healing as the altars filled with seeking saints.
Someone
remarked, that “God loves tents!” His
presence filled the tabernacle in the wilderness and truly God is here in
Covina!
Another
pastor remarked that there was such a sense of unity and love!
The huge
tent was almost ¾ filled! The service begins at 7:00 p.m. sharp.
The
morning seminars are at 10:00 a.m. except on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday
is the kid’s crusade at 2:00 p.m.
Just
pray for Revival 2000 that God glory will continue to fill that wonderful and
glorious tent! Heaven on earth!

Nehemiah
4:9 says. “Nevertheless we made our prayer to our God, and
because of
them we set a watch against them day and night.” NKJ Nehemiah
was called
to go to the city of Jerusalem and restore the walls. His name
means “Yahweh
Comforts.” He was a cupbearer, which was someone who was an
advisor to
the king. Nehemiah tasted all the kings food and drink to avoid
anyone
from poising the king. Because of the persecution, confusion and lack
of
motivation in the people in Jerusalem, God raised up Nehemiah to set a
strategy
in order that would bring unity and a heart and mind to work. This
is also
the strategy that the Lord taught King David! 1Chronicles 16:4,6,37
says, “And
he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of
the Lord,
and to record, and to thank
and praise
the Lord God of Israel: Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests
with
trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. Asaph
and his
brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s
work
required” KJV
Nehemiah
was simply restoring the divine order of the plans that God had set in motion
many years before. It is the plan that will work throughout the ages.
Unfortunately many of the kings in the Bible disobeyed the strategy of the Lord
and did evil. The ones that obeyed the twenty-four hour prayer and worship
watch always prospered.
Psalm
119: 164-165: “Seven times a day do I praise thee because of thy
righteous
judgements. Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing
shall
offend them.” NKJ
There is
an excitement throughout the body of Christ as we develop twenty-four hour
prayer and worship clocks around the world. Without a prayer watch established
true revival will fizzle out! We have
networked with The City Watch, The California Prayer Initiative, and We Care
LA. We would love to have you join the L.A. City Wide Prayer Watch. CityWatchLA@aol.com
In the city of Los Angeles we are very grateful for the twenty-four hour prayer
clock that was established by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1926 through Angelus
Temple. Several other churches have followed the pattern and God is about ready
to visit Los Angeles with a mighty outpouring of His Holy Spirit. The teaching

*CHARLESTON,
SC: ANYBODY OUT THERE?
>From: “CG
INGRAM” <cgingram@hotmail.com>
Are
there any prayer groups in SC, especially in Charleston. I am the pastor of the
Grace Alliance Church (CMA) in N. Charleston, SC. I have taken my congregation
through the H.O.P.E. materials, but we haven’t found any other groups here. We
would like to link with any prayer groups in the area.
Thanks,
Rev. C.G. Ingram

nation to seek God in worship and prayer.
It will be a solemn
assembly
for our nation’s collegiate youth. If
you have never checked out
a web site
from an email before this is the one to be your first. Check it

*CHICAGOLAND
PASTORS PRAYER SUMMIT
>rom: “Joshua”
<Joshua@avenew.com>
Date: June 6, 2000 : 11am to 1pm
Location: TLN (TV 38)
Headquarters (1-312-433-3838)
38 South Peoria, Chicago, IL
60607
The
recent three day prayer summit in April is still fresh on many of our minds. We
have heard many positive comments from both the men and women participants of
the simultaneous summits.
Come and
join us! We are welcoming both men and women who are in Christian ministry
throughout Chicagoland to join us for two hours of prayer.
The
group has decided to meet at the TV38 “Total Living Network” Headquarters which
is just 2 blocks west of Halsted and Madison in Chicago. There is easy access from the Eisenhower and
only four to six block walk from the Northwestern & Union Stations.
We
continue to gather to pray for Chicagoland. This is an interdenominational,
cross-cultural, Pastoral prayer initiative. Come in the name of Jesus with your
unique expression of prayer for the church, seekers, poor, needy and
disenfranchised of our city.
Bring a
neighboring pastor or Chicagoland ministry friend. Lets invest two hours
worshiping the Lord in prayer.
Warmly in
Christ,
The
Summit Leadership Team:

*CHICAGO
PRAYER LEADERS: DO YOU...
>From: MarcusHester@aol.com
Chicago
Prayer Leaders:
Do you
have any Prayer Meetings in May you would like to Post?
Do you
know of anyone who we can add to our e-mail list?
Revival
Watch Prayer Network/Revival Watch Pastors Network - is a network of
Christian
leaders and saints who are praying for revival (spiritual
awakening)
and unity within the Chicagoland area.
It is a free service to
provide
information about the the various
prayer sites and meetings across
the
city. Our goal is to one day (God’s
timing) have a citywide prayer
meeting as
all our smaller groups come together.
We currently have 200+
names, but
we are sure we do not know about many groups ... so let us know
...
Thanks! Marcus
Hester/Director
