Received
this from a close friend of 35 years...
“May God
bless you with the discomfort at easy answers, half truths and superficial
relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart.
May God
bless you with anger at injustice, oppression and exploitation of people, so
that you may wish for justice, freedom and peace.
And may
God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference
in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done.”

NATIONS ONE VOICE CELEBRATION
>From: Wanbli@aol.com
Greetings
friends, Here’s a wonderful report of the first MN1V in Pasadena.
“The
Many Nations One Voice Celebration had a profoundly moving spiritual impact on
me. Jesus is calling every tribe and nation to come together to worship Him in
the diversity and beauty of who He made each of us to be.
This
conference
will change your life forever.” Melody Green, President/CEO Last
Days
Ministries
This
was the sentiment expressed over and over by those who attended the
inaugural
MN1V Celebration 2000 in Pasadena. More than a 1000 people came wondering what
to expect and left changed by the wonderful presence of the Lord.
Across
the continent the acceptance, affirmation, and embrace of “Native
worship”
is tearing down the spiritual stronghold in the land that says, Jesus is the
white man’s God.” As the Body of Christ, after centuries of rejecting them,
accepts these many cultural expressions as legitimate biblical forms for
Christian worship, healing and reconciliation is occurring and a blessing is
being released in the land.
During
the two and a half days of the Celebration, dozens of stories
were
told by
Native believers of how overwhelmed and healed they were by the love
of God
during the times of worship, drumming, and dance. There were Native people from
all across Canada, the US, Alaska, and as far away as Peru & Columbia.
There was even a couple who came all the way from Germany.
National
author, Fawn Parrish, as well as many others, made this
observation
about the Celebration. “I was so touched by the
Christ-Centeredness
of the conference. Thank you for walking the Jesus way-I
honor
and applaud your long obedience in this direction.” That is the goal of every
one of MN1V Celebrations - that Jesus Christ be the focus and center of everything
that occurs.
The
worship times were rich with culture, passion, and joy. Mohawk songwriter and
worship leader, Jonathon Maracle, has written some anointed and inspiring new
songs of praise utilizing the traditional drum and sounds.
Kent
Henry, internationally known songwriter and
worship leader, who partnered with MN1V Ministry team in the Pasadena
Celebration, and will again in Calgary, said this of his time. “The Many
Nations One Voice was one of the most profound Christian events I’ve been a
part of in 25 years of ministry.
It was
deeply moving and meaningful, especially in fulfilling the witness of
true
worship to every tribe, tongue and nation.”
Some
of the best known missiologists in the Church today came and lent
their support.
Dr. Ralph Winter, Founder of the U.S. Center for World
Mission,
formally welcomed the delegates on Thursday evening, as well as
taught a
workshop. Dr. Doug Pennoyer, Dean of the School of Intercultural
Studies
from Biola University and Dr. Chuck Kraft, Professor of Anthropology
at the
School of World Mission, Fuller Theological Seminary also taught workshops.
Some
of the next generation of gifted Native leaders, Bible teachers and
missiologists
presented outstanding Biblical messages from a Native worldview and
perspective. Untold comments were heard by people about how impressed they were
by the insights and giftedness of these “unknown” Native leaders.
(Most of
the messages are available on cassette and video. Call for an order
form).
In the next few years you will begin hearing more and more from these
new
leaders throughout the Church.
The
Celebration ended with a call to Native believers to forgive the
offenses
and lay a hold of the heavenly vision of being agents of Christ’s
ministry
of reconciliation and world mission. John Dawson was asked to come
forward
and shared the heart of God when he said, “Native believers, this is
your
hour. You are loved around the world. At this time in human history God
has given
you immense favor among the nations. Now is the time to listen
carefully
and obey the voice of the Lord to rise up in His strength and
humility
as ministers of reconciliation among the nations.” Across the
auditorium
Native people stood weeping when Richard Twiss asked who would
accept
this challenge and then invited them forward to prayer. It was an
awesome
time of prayer and dedication. There were rivers of tears concluding
with an
outbreak of joy and thanksgiving. As the people mingled afterward, there was
much hugging, laughter, joy, and new love for one another felt by all!
The
Pasadena event confirmed that, yes, God is indeed doing a new thing in the
land. The next MN1V is set for May 4-6 in Silver Spring, Maryland.
The
third is
set for June 22-24 in Calgary, Canada, at the University of Calgary
and the
fourth Nov 16-18 in Ottawa. Make plans now to attend.
Early
registration is encouraged for the Maryland MN1V. Call or email for a registration
brochure; 360-546-1867 or <wanbli@aol.com>. (Lodging will be limited in the area because
of the holiday season in the D.C. area)
Maryland
Speakers are Francis Frangipane, Mary Glazier, John Sandford, Monte
Ohia,
Bishop David Cooper, Dr. Jerry Yellowhawk, Richard Twiss, Art Begay, Ray
Vialapondo, Lynda Prince, Terry LeBlanc, Steve Cheremie, Adrian Jacobs, Gary
Bergal, Fern Noble, Doug Yates, Ray Minnecon, Randy Woodley, Dr. Suuqiina,
George Kallappa, and praise and worship by Jonathon Maracle.
In
addition there will be a special drama performance by the Thunder Bay Drama
Team, international cultural presentations, and presentations by the First
Nations people from the east coast region.

I am
relatively new to the nppn although I have been pastoring in Chicago for almost
20 years. I appreciate your efforts in
coordinating what the Lord is doing through prayer to revive His church in our
nation and abroad.
On
Friday March 24th @ 7 pm,pastors from all over Chicago (appx. 45-50)
will meeting together for prayer at Cross and Crown, 3707 W. Ainslie, Chicago 773-267-7100. We had been meeting together for several years as a group of 6-8
praying primarily for two things: Unity in the church in Chicago and revival
for our city. It there are other
pastors in Chicago that would like to meet with us on that night they are
welcome to attend.
The
agenda will be simple. There will be a
time of worship, a brief time of introducing the purpose of our meeting and
then an extended time of seeking God. Keep up the good work. I am encouraged by what the Lord is doing.

Are
their any prayer groups made up on police officers and their chaplains ? I have
been praying about starting such a group and was wondering if others were doing
a group.
Lee
Martin, Police Chaplain, Topeka, Kansas
Dear
Chaplain Martin,
I read
your email on NPPN. I am an officer
with Arlington Tx. PD. We have a police
prayer chain that is managed by another officer. We have a full time chaplain but he is not very involved in
this. Our department has an intranet
system including system wide email so most of the requests are sent that
way. Every officer is issued a alpha-numeric
pager and many of us have the sending program so urgent requests are sent out
over the paging system.
Personally,
I am the prayer pastor at Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlington and am the
director of Pray Arlington which coordinates the Lighthouses of Prayer in the
city. A part of my function at church
is prayer discipleship training and I lead the School of Prayer at Fielder Road. Since it’s impossible to get our officers
together for anything because of the shift work we try to make the most of the
technology we have available and I have made our training materials available
to them individually for those who are interested in getting more instruction
in prayer.
God
bless your efforts in Topeka. I believe
Christian officers are in a unique position as gatekeepers in the city having
both the authority of the governing body and the authority of the
believer. Harnessing that group and
empowering them to go about their duties with a Kingdom perspective can have an
awesome result in the life of your city.
Yours in
Him, Officer Tim Tremaine, Arlington, TX

*VENTURA
COUNTY, CA: PRAYER SUMMIT REPORT
>From:
Joey And Fawn Parish <jparish@jetlink.net>
An
appreciative “Thank You!” for those who prayed for the recent Prayer Summit of
Ventura County Pastors and Leaders. God met with us wonderfully. We had planned a Listening Hike at 11 a.m.
that morning, and it had been pouring all week, and raining all morning until
10 minutes to ll.! The sun came out as if on cue. We do have a Weatherman who
ordains all things after the counsel of His own will!
We had
about 60+ gathered. ( 80+ registered but the freeway to where we were meeting
was closed down for 7 hours due to a fatal accident). The morning session was
marvelously Jesus focused. Southern Baptist pastor of pastors, Tim Logerquist,
began by saying that God had asked us to come to Him without an agenda, and
that even revival can become an agenda. We were there to seek God’s face not
His hand. I asked Mark Patterson, the senior pastor of Community Presbyterian
in Ventura to share about revival. He is getting his doctorate in revival from
Kings College in London, and he said that God has all these marvelous things He
wants to give us, but whenever He does, we worship either the place it came,
the person it came through, or the practice associated with the gift. Mark said
he’s come to realize through history that people want revival more than they
want Jesus.
We broke
up into groups, doing an African Bible Study on Isaiah 55. This is an approach
introduced by the African delegation at the Anglican Lambeth Conference, where
you read the entire text, and just make one word or sentence responses to it, and
then read the entire chapter again. All in all you go through the text three or
four times and respond without discussion.
We then
encouraged everyone to take a 45 minute private listening hike through the
beautiful grounds, and ask God what He liked about them. We were treated to a
gourmet lunch by the hosting facility Rancho Del Rey, and many new
relationships formed around tables. We asked everyone to sit with people they
did not know and find their spiritual passion. The afternoon held much repentance
for comparison, competition, thinking “We’re the Cutting Edge”, unjust
denominational judgment, etc.
We are
aware that even though we’ve been pursuing this for eight years, we still have
far to go, but God has taken us an extremely long way into being focused on His
Son. We’ve made every mistake possible through the years, tried unsuccessfully
to follow other models that were successful, but we’re coming back to the
simplicity of devotion to Christ. We believe that Christ alone is our hope, and
that His purposes and dreams for our 10 cities will be accomplished as we walk
softly before Him and one another.

for the Lamb, Fawn Parish Co-Servant Leader, Pray Ventura County,
California

*MINNEAPOLIS:
NEHEMIAH CENTER OPEN HOUSE
>”Steve
Loopstra” <paststeve@earthlink.net>
A new
ministry concept is developing that has its sites on “transforming a city.” The
Nehemiah Center, based on the story of Nehemiah in the Bible, is a partnership
of ministries committed to working together to have an impact on cities and
communities.
In the
Old Testament story, Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem when he realized the city
was in ruins. The wall surrounding the city was broken down, and as Nehemiah
stated, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates
have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we
will no longer be in disgrace” (Nehemiah 3:17). Nehemiah then called the nation of Israel together to help
rebuild the city. It is the rebuilding
concept that has encouraged several ministries to begin partnering and officing
together in the heart of the city. The ministries share a deep concern over
growing crime, poverty, racial disharmony, broken families, and other
destructive issues facing cities and communities today.
The
Nehemiah Center, housed on the third floor of First Covenant Church in downtown
Minneapolis, is now operational and eager for the public to join with them in a
celebration open house on March 30-31 and April 1. The open house will include
tours, live radio broadcasts with KTIS and KKMS, and special presentations of
the Center ministries. The open house is slated for the following times:
Thursday,
March 30 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Friday,
March 31 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Saturday,
April 1 9:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m.
The
uniqueness of this ministry effort is emphasized by Steve Loopstra,
executive
director of Prayer Transformation Ministries (one of the partnering
ministries). “I don’t know of anything like this in any other city,” said
Loopstra. “The vision of ministries and churches working together on behalf of
a city may not be new, but taking the steps to create a ministry center is a
radically different way of thinking.”
The
partnership of the Nehemiah Center with First Covenant Church is also a step
forward in church and ministry relationships. First Covenant has a rich
heritage of ministry in Minneapolis, but the major landmark church had
considering selling its property at one time. But in 1997 the church adopted a
renewed vision of being “a center for Christ-filled renewal, giving hope and
health in the heart of the city.” At
about the same time, the Nehemiah Center was struggling to find a location.
When the two groups came together, it was clear God was leading to a
partnership that promises to revitalize the downtown ministry efforts.
Ministries
partnering in the Nehemiah Center include Bethany Urban Development (Steve
Harrison), Freedom in Christ (Dawson Grover), Harvest Evangelism (Rick Heeren),
Heart of the City (Dan and Sandy Adler), Life Center of Prayer (Scott and
Brenda Kilber), Prayer Transformation Ministries (Steve Loopstra), and Religion
Information Resources (John Mayer), Kingdom Oil (Jay Bennett), and First
Covenant Church. Their shared vision is to partner with each other and serve
the local church in city transformation. A significant part of their ministry
efforts will include comprehensive prayer strategies that will eventually
incorporate the entire metro area and suburbs. The Nehemiah Center has been
coined a “prayer center”; a unique role in the midst of a city filled with
shopping, recreation, and fitness centers.
The
public is invited to attend the Nehemiah Center open house at 810
South 7th
St., Minneapolis, MN 55415 (612) 278-1710

May we
share a victory with you? It can easily
be duplicated in other cities. The
Mayor’s Prayer Luncheon held here on March 15 that was the most successful
citywide meetings we have ever held.
Why? First, the theme was, “My
prayer for El Paso is .... “. Everyone
was given a card on which to their prayer for El Paso. The mayor, police chief, commanding general
of Ft. Bliss, President of the Chamber of Commerce and others shared their touching
prayers for El Paso. Second, a
well-known attorney gave his moving testimony and led everyone in the prayer
for salvation as written on the back of Mission American’s Celebrate Jesus
tract. Third, although the delicious
luncheon was held at our finest hotel ballroom, the tickets were only $5 each
or $50 for a table of 10. How? Five sponsors contributed $1,000 each to
keep the ticket price low. As a result,
over 800 people attended and we could have sold 4 times that many tickets. The mayor, city leaders and pastors were all
delighted with the outcome of the luncheon.
If
anyone wants a free copy of the program, the prayer card and the two newspaper
articles written about the Mayor’s Prayer Luncheon, email us at epfj@aol.com.

*MISSION
HOUSTON: A “NEXT STEP” MODEL
>From: “Jim
Herrington” <jhmh@flash.net>
For more
than eight years churches in Katy, Texas, a western suburb of Houston, have
been praying and working together to reach their part of the Greater Houston
area. Participating churches refer to
themselves as The Katy Church. In a
recent meeting of key pastors, the group made the decision to take the next
step in becoming intentional about discerning God’s strategy for the
transformation of the Katy area.
Up to
this point, participating churches have gathered for unified prayer and a
variety of community wide events focused on worship and evangelism. Stating that “It is time for us to move to
the next level of effectiveness,” Pastor Charles Wisdom from Katy’s First
Baptist Church challenged the group to become even more intentional about
discerning and obeying God’s leadership for the transformation of the Katy
area.
There
are cities around the world today that are experiencing dramatic positive
changes. These changes include
significant decreases in crime, divorce, and poverty and significant increases
in family and church health, compassion, and morality. Authentic relationship based unity, united prayer,
and strategic planning characterize all these cities. Authentic relational unity draws the pastors of these cities
together in prayer. Through prayer God
reveals a strategy for reaching the city.
Then churches work together to prayerfully implement the strategy.
The Katy
Church has enlisted Jim Herrington to facilitate the prayerful discernment of
this strategy. This summer Herrington
will lead three workshops for the churches in Katy. The workshops, designed for pastors and key leaders, will help
congregations embrace a process that is solidly built around prayer and that
values diversity in discerning God’s leadership. The process that will be taught has been tested by congregations
in cities all across the world and is described in Jack Dennison’s recent book,
City Reaching: The Road to Community Transformation.
Following
the seminars, pastors of participating churches will gather for a retreat in
early August to begin prayerfully and intentionally discerning God’s strategy
for the transformation of Katy. Tom and
Nancy Long serve as Pastors of Caleb’s Foot Church in Katy and as coordinators
for The Katy Church. According to Tom: “At
least sixteen of the approximately 40 churches in the Katy area are solidly
behind what we are doing, and more than that are supportive.” Pastors of all the churches are encouraged
to participate.
When
asked about this process, Jim Herrington, who serves as Director of Mission
Houston said, “It is our hope that what is happening in Katy will be replicated
in communities all across the city.”
Currently Mission Houston is working with more than 30
neighborhood-based pastors prayer groups in the Greater Houston area. Herrington said: “As the prayer groups
become increasingly effective the Holy Spirit gives impulse to work together as
a body to reach the community. Mission
Houston seeks to serve the body by facilitating the process of bringing highly
diverse groups of churches together. We
allow the Spirit to empower that diversity to work for us as we seek to see the
real needs of the community and discover ways to meet those needs.”

RECONCILIATION

Celia
Thomas, Mountain Bread Ministries, Tacoma Washington

Northwest
Revival News: http://www.nrn.net
Catholic
- Protestant Reconciliation Increasing
Spontaneous
repentance and reconciliation events have just occurred in the Lower Columbia
River Region of the Pacific Northwest of the USA recently. On Wednesday, March 1st there was
a prophetic intercession gathering in Rainier Oregon. Both Protestants and Catholics were present. The Holy Spirit led those gathered in repentance
asking for forgiveness for attitudes, pride, and arrogance. There were many individual confessions and forgiveness
was given and received. A powerful time
of intercession followed. This was not
a time of identificational repentance but spontaneous and deeply felt among
those present.
Then, on
Friday, March 3rd the pre-scheduled monthly “Good Friday” gathering
occurred in Longview, Washington. These
meetings move from church to church in the Longview/Kelso area and it just
happened to be at St. Rose Catholic Church this time. During the meeting repentance and reconciliation took place
between the Catholics and Protestants.
A Protestant pastor washed the feet of the Catholic priest and repented
before him for the sins of the Protestants against the Catholics.
On March
17-19 in Astoria, Oregon a regional gathering took place in a community
center. A prophetic team from
Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon were ministering. The Holy Spirit led them in repentance and reconciliation
with Native Americans that came to the gathering on the 17th. On the 19th the Holy Spirit led
them in repentance and reconciliation with the Catholics at the gathering. It was a holy and sovereign event.
The
significant thing about these three events is that the people came together
with only one purpose: To gather to see
what the Father is doing and hear what he is saying and then do likewise. God is on the move and doing a significant
thing is Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon. I’m sure you will be hearing more from the Pacific Northwest as
God’s people continue to humble themselves before Him and seek his face and
believe God to heal the land.
Blessings,
Dave Bodine, Northwest Revival Network
