*A VERY SPECIAL WOMEN’S RETREAT -
NOT FOR INTERCESSORS ONLY
>From: VWAU@aol.com

A little over 2 years ago, while planning a women’s retreat for the Village
Church of Barrington, I called Damaris Carbaugh, who sings with the Brooklyn
Tabernacle Choir, and asked who she would recommend as a speaker. She
wholeheartedly recommended Maria Durso, a pastor’s wife and international
speaker, from one of the Brooklyn Tabernacle’s sister churches. Maria has
an incredible testimony of how God can heal the pain of the past and how God
can take the least likely person and use them powerfully for His purposes.
She leads the prayer band at Christ Tabernacle Church in New York and her
life speaks strongly of dependence on God through prayer and the
faithfulness of
God to respond to those who call upon His name. At the retreat, the presence
of God was so strong, that we began to cancel all planned activities and on
Saturday night, we called a prayer meeting. It is hard to explain a move of
God, but at that prayer meeting, God met us so wonderfully, women never knew
that they could experience God in that way. It created a tremendous hunger
for more of God, and lives were changed. When we returned there was so much
excitement from the women that it had a ripple effect throughout the whole
church and a weekly prayer meeting was started.

Because of our desire to see God touch the lives of His people, Karen
Queen, Sandra Williams and I have planned a retreat that would be open to
women in the Chicagoland area. This retreat will begin at 7:00 P.M. on
Friday, October 13th and end at 4:30 on Saturday, October 14th at the
Oakbrook Marriott (across from Oakbrook Shopping Center).

Maria Durso will be the plenary speaker, a concert will be given by
Damaris Carbaugh, worship will be led by Elizabeth Goodine who has written
music for the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, and workshops will be led by Criss
Lott, (the wife of Pastor William R. Lott, Sr. of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church
in Chicago. Criss is a two time recipient of the “Black Achievers Award”.),
Jamell Meeks, (the wife of Pastor James T. Meeks of the Salem Baptist Church
in Chicago. Jamell challenges women to discover and fulfill God’s purposes
for their lives), Barbara Blanchard, (the wife of Tim Blanchard. Barbara is
a Director on the board of Christian Women United and founder of Life
Management for
Women).

Women from the Chicagoland area are encouraged to attend and the cost is
very reasonable. For more information call Karen, Carol or Mindy at
(708)848-9120.

Your sister in Christ, Vicky Wauterlek
