Call for Intercessors: A call for a 24 hour prayer covering. NEW ENGLAND 2000 needs our help to hold up the arms of the speakers.

NEW ENGLAND 2000 was birthed with a vision to bring Christians together to seek the Lord for revival and community transformation in New England. A tent will be set up outside the conference building for the intercessors, and will have musicians lead them in worship at different intervals.  NEW ENGLAND 2000 has asked that there will be people praying 24 hrs a day in this tent while the conference is in progress.

*PUT ASIDE METHODS AND MACHINERY

>From: “Francois Carr” <revival@yebo.co.za>

God Himself is the great source of power. It is His possession. Power belongs unto God and He manifests it according to His sovereign will, yet, not in an erratic or arbitrary manner, but according to His declared purpose and promises. True, our opponents and hindrances are many and mighty, but our God, the living God, is almighty.

God tells us by His prophet Daniel that the people who do know their God shall be strong and do exploits. It is ordinarily true that knowledge is power, and this is supremely true in the case of the knowledge of God. Those who know their God do not attempt to do exploits, but they actually do them.  We shall search the Scriptures in vain for any command to attempt to do anything. Gods commands are always “do this.” If the command is from God, our only course is to obey.

Further, Gods power is available power. We are supernatural people, born again by a supernatural birth, kept by a supernatural power, sustained on supernatural food, and taught by a supernatural Teacher from a supernatural Book. We are led by s supernatural Captain in right paths to assured victory. The risen Saviour, before He ascended on high, said: “All power is given unto Me - go ye therefore.” Again, He said to His disciples, “Ye shall receive power when the Holy Spirit shall come upon you.” Not many days after this, in answer to united and continued prayer, the Holy Spirit did come upon them, and they were all filled. Praise God, He remains with us still.

The power given is not a gift from the Holy Spirit. He Himself is the power.  Today He is as truly available, and as mighty in power, as He was on the Day of Pentecost. But since the Day before Pentecost, has the whole Church ever put aside every other work and waited upon God for ten days, that the power might be manifested? We have given too much attention to methods, machinery, and resources, and too little to the source of power.  ( Hudson Taylor)

*SEE YOU AT THE POLLS

>From: “Steve Loopstra” <paststeve@earthlink.net>

Phil,

I would like to make you and your readers aware of a prayer strategy that I think has the Hand of God all over it. See if you don’t agree...

It is called “Pray at the Polls 2000.” The vision is so simple: “That

all believers in the Lord Jesus would take a minute to pray at the polling

booths this November. One vote may seem to mean so little, but one prayer

means God’s kingdom and purpose will come!!! It means everything. The vision

is that the church will saturate the polling booths with prayer on November

7th. If Christian organizations across the nation could catch the vision,

then the idea of “Pray at the Polls 2000” would spread and every polling

site could be covered with humble prayer. This is not about politics. the

desire of our hearts is to  see the tide turned in America, and for God to

have mercy on us. We are convinced that sweeping national repentance and

prayer at the grassroots is the answer. For more information you can e-mail

Tracy Stillman by visiting the website at: www.prayatthepolls2000.org

<http://www.prayatthepolls2000.org>

or write to: Shepherd’s Prayer Ministry, 11875 W. Eagle Lake Drive, Maple

Grove, MN 55369

Let’s all get on board with this...!!

One other idea—many precincts are asking for “election judges”—as a Christian, why not be an election judge and get paid to spend the whole day praying at the polling place!?

May the Lord raise up an army of polling place intercessors.

LOOKING BACK TO SURGE AHEAD: The AD2000 United Prayer Track

By C. Peter Wagner

The shift in the global prayer movement from the primary focus on the 10/40 Window to the 40/70 Window was very rapid. But we live in an age of very rapid shifts. Many changes in the natural world around us are more radical than we have been used to, like cloning sheep or buying stocks from the Internet. But they also seem to come more rapidly, one after another. It should not be surprising, therefore, that similar changes are also taking place in the invisible world. What a challenge to keep up to date on what the Spirit is saying to the churches! A challenge, yes, but a very exciting challenge! The majority of the readers of Global Prayer News faithfully and earnestly prayed with us for the unreached peoples of the 10/40 Window during the 1990s. Now is the time to take a brief look back. What a decade!

LUIS BUSH’S PASSION FOR PRAYER

Luis Bush was the International Coordinator of the AD2000 Movement. When he invited me to join him, I knew from the outset that if I accepted, it would set the direction of my career for the next few years. A major factor entering into my decision to accept the coordination of the AD2000 United Prayer Track in 1991 was Luis Bush’s determination that prayer would be a central part, not just a mandatory adjunct, to the movement he was helping to birth. This was a radical departure from many other international evangelically focused movement with which I had been associated previously.  Furthermore, Luis is a risk-taker. When I accepted the position, he agreed that I would incorporate into the Prayer Track the emerging Spiritual Warfare Network of which I was International Coordinator. Spiritual warfare was a very controversial issue in those days, but I was convinced that the most relevant prayer for reaching the lost of the 10/40 Window would be aggressive, targeted warfare prayer, and Luis was willing to let me experiment with it in AD2000. The result was that the global prayer movement, focused on saving the lost, ended the decade on a level which could not even have been imagined in 1990. The decade will be recorded in history as the most innovative decade for prayer to date. Let me record this history by listing the ten major innovations, and then the ten major prayer milestones.

THE 10 MAJOR PRAYER INNOVATIONS OF THE 1990’S

I had no trouble in compiling this list of the top ten innovations in the prayer movement, but I had an extremely difficult time trying to list them in order of importance. Consequently, I actually put the items in a hat and drew them in this random order.

(1)          Strategic-level spiritual warfare.

The idea of taking authority over high-ranking principalities and powers assigned by Satan to keep social networks of various kinds in spiritual darkness was the focus of the Spiritual Warfare Network starting in 1990.  Key authors included Cindy Jacobs, Dick Eastman, and C. Peter Wagner.

(2)          Identificational repentance.

The body of Christ began to learn that it is possible to heal the wounds of the past through identificational repentance and thus to weaken strongholds that Satan has built. The key author was John Dawson.

(3)          Prayer evangelism.

Prayer has ordinarily been an add-on to evangelism, but now we know that prayer itself, when intelligently strategized and focused, can be a direct force for winning people to Christ. The key author was Ed Silvoso.

(4)          Personal intercession for key leaders.

For pastors and other Christian leaders, identifying and relating positively to personal intercessors can mean the difference between success and failure in ministry. Key authors included John Maxwell, Terry Teykl, and C. Peter Wagner.

(5)     Two-way prayer.

Prayer is not just speaking to God, but also hearing directly from Him.  Derivatives of this include prophecy, the office of the prophet, and prophetic intercession. Key authors included Cindy Jacobs and Chuck Pierce.

(6)     On-site praying.

Prayer began to move out of the church and into the community through praise marches, prayer expeditions, prayer journeys, and prayerwalking. Key authors included Graham Kendrick, Steve Hawthorne, and C. Peter Wagner.

(7)     City transformation.

Through prayer, the kingdom of God can move out of the church and penetrate all levels of society, thereby transforming cities and other territories.  Key authors included George Otis Jr., Ed Silvoso, John Dawson, and C. Peter Wagner.

(8)     The AD2000 United Prayer Track.

A vehicle for mobilizing prayer for the lost at a Level never before seen in church history. Key authors included Luis Bush, Beverly Pegues, and Dick Eastman.

(9)          Commitment to the land.

Spiritual authority of pastors and other leaders increases proportionately to their commitment to the territory in which God has placed them. The key author was Bob Beckett.

(10)          Spiritual mapping.

Holy spirit lead research can help target our prayers and produce informed, and thus more effective, intercession. The key author was George Otis Jr.

WHAT GOOD DID THIS DO?

While we were praying, the greatest forward thrust ever recorded in world evangelization was taking place before our eyes. Of the targeted unreached people groups, 78% now have reported evangelism/church planting activities onsite. About 18 months ago, only 4% of the people groups had a church of 100 or more, but now the figure is 33%. At the present time, a full 88% of the people groups are targeted for church planting, and it won’t be long before the remaining 12% are also targeted. How I wish the Apostle Paul could read this report! But I have never been one to dwell in the past. We only look back so that we can surge ahead! God has now assigned us the 40/70 Window. The spiritual water level there is extremely low.  Percentage-wise there are fewer born-again individuals in Poland than there are in Nepal. Fewer are born-again in Spain than in Japan. But changes are coming faster than ever, and this situation is going to change. I believe that we will see God do as great a work in the 40/70 Window in five years as He did in the 10/40 Window in ten years. Let’s agree and move ahead together as never before!

Wagner leadership Institute

*SECRET OF SUCCESS

>From: Biblicalwm@aol.com

A delegation of Americans asked Charles Spurgeon the secret of his success.

The great pastor led them to the lower level of church where over 400 people

were praying for God’s blessing and power to rest upon their pastor.

No matter how much you pay your pastor, praise him or work for him.  It is only through earnest prayer that you can really help him be an effective minister in the hands of God.

Every pastor needs prayer for his personal needs, for spiritual wisdom and power, for his family, and for overseeing God’s flock (I Peter 5:2).

Dr. Elwood Bredbenner eRefreshment is a weekly encouragement specifically for those in vocational ministry, church leadership, and their families.  It is provided free from Biblical Wellness Ministries - Raleigh, NC (USA).

*PRAYING FOR BIBLE BACK-BONE

>From: “Terry J. Hallock” <watcong@midwest.net>

O Jesus, You who hold the sharp, double-edged sword of the Word (see the Church of Pergamum on Revelation 2:12-17); You who are in fact the Word made flesh; give Your congregations some Bible back-bone.  Convict us of our sloppy sentimentality and our doctrinal permissiveness mistaken for love.  When I am in error, dear Lord, send the Holy Spirit to one of my brothers and sisters and then in love send them to me to correct and teach me.  Don’t allow me to have any more patience for the absence of Your truth in the Body than I should have for the absence of Your love.  Come with the “sword of Your mouth” and purify the soul of Your Church.  This I pray in Jesus’ name.  Amen and Amen.

*REMEMBER HUMILITY IN PRAYER

>From: “Jen” <jen@cfdevotionals.org>

Micah 6:8, “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”

The ending of this verse is interesting, I think.  Why does it not end, “And to run, his whole life with God?”, or “To walk joyfully with your God?” Why is it that this verse ends as it does, focused on humility?

Many people are taught about the blessedness of the Christian life, the joy that goes with knowing Jesus, and we have, at times adopted a “jump for Jesus” faith.  There is nothing wrong with that, on the one hand, but it is just as true that humility is indispensable to the Christian life. In all things we are to practice humility.  The great reformer Luther was once asked what the first step in religion was and he replied, “humility.” The second?, “humility”, the third, “humility.”

We should remember humility in prayer.  In prayer we address the creator of the universe, the God of our salvation.  There are times when I hear prayers that show such familiarity or levity with God that it seems that the prayers are being addressed to an equal or to one worthy of little reverence.  When we come before God in prayer, we do enter His presence, and we must remember to come humbly before Him as those who are needy and seeking help.

We should remember humility when we consider the mercies of God toward us. Are we distinguished to the point that we are deserving of His mercies?  Surely not!  Are we successful in life or occupation?  We must think of God’ s providential care and grace that protects us when on the road going back and forth to work ... think about how God has protected our bodies from disease and injury so that we could have success.  The mercy of God us-ward, is really amazing.  And it should again lead to humility on our part.

If we inquire deeper, we will see the need for humility in every area of our lives.  If we are prone to seek to establish our own righteousness, we have not thought clearly about our dependence upon God.  We must look only to the mercy and grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.  It is by the grace of God that we are what we are.  With regard to all that we are, we, like a branch that generates its life from the source which is the vine, generate our life and being from the source of life, which is Christ.

*SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: SEEKING PRAYER SUPPORT

>From: Guen Ballew <rejoycnhim@juno.com>

Somebody Cares Seeks prayer support for Inland Empire and Southern California. Are there any intercessors out there that  would like to help us pray in the harvest in our area.

There are three parts to the vision and ministry of Somebody Cares Southland. Prayer / Benevolence and Evangelism. We work with other ministries such as Operation Blessing, The Call, ( these youth who are praying for our cities and making efforts to go and pray at the Capitol Mall in Washingto D.C. for our nation in September). Our evangelism team is working with Convoy of Hope. If you know anything about any of these you can see that we need much prayer and much help. The vision is to bring in the lost, to feed the hungry, to pray for the hurting, and to help bring restoration to the Body of Christ. We are seeing God’s hand move and we could use some help, and at times some relief through prayer back-up.

intercessors for the Hawaiian Islands. “During a long fast we did during

April, the Lord led us to intercede for specific islands. We believe that

destruction, that God is going to bring a spiritual tidal wave, beginning

in Hawaii that will sweep over all the islands of the Pacific bringing life

and revival.”    Source: Joel News
