*PASTOR PHIL’S PRAYER LETTER

Recently, at a PPG meeting, one of the pastors said something that caught my attention - “Faith is the ability to recognize what God is doing and to enter into it, regardless of the obstacles.” For me, lack of anticipated response from people, especially prayer leaders and pastors, has been hard to take. At times, it almost feels like personal rejection (though I know it is not). The Lord is telling me this is an obstacle He has faced and one that all of us in the prayer movement must face with faith. Full entry. Full commitment. Fulfilled perseverance. Pray for me in that way. I’ll do the same for you ... Phil Local (Chicagoland) Requests:

·        Praise for a wonderful Pastors Prayer Summit and our first Women in

Ministry Summit

·        Friday night’s Symphony of Prayer (15-18 Concerts of Prayer scattered throughout Chicagoland): a spirit of prayer for revival, awakening, transformation...

·        Saturday’s Great Commission Prayer Conference: a surprising attendance (pre-registrations are low), an impartation from the Holy Spirit to each who attends, many pastors catching a vision to become a prayer-driven church...

*HOUSTON,TX: 21 DAY DANIEL FAST

>From: Henry Dibrell <tpmail@tpmi.org>

With the same sense of intensity and urgency that led to the 40 days at Houston Prayer Mountain in 1996, Doug Stringer, founder of Somebody Cares/Turning Point Ministries Int’l, recently shared what is on his heart for Houston, Texas and beyond. Doug is calling a 21-day Daniel fast for our city beginning April 3rd and culminating April 23rd. As he shared this with a core group of 75 pastors gathered at a Somebody Cares Houston meeting on March 28th, it met with confirmation.  Reports continue to come from ministry leaders who are expectant of this time to fast and pray. Hundreds of people within the Houston area have already committed to this fast.

After making the announcement, it was brought to Doug’s attention that the Daniel fast will actually conclude on Easter Sunday - Resurrection time!  Later that evening Doug read something significant in Daniel 10:4.  After Daniel prayed and fasted for three weeks on the 24th day of that month, the angel of the Lord appeared to Daniel with a word from God.  Ironically, the 24th day of April will be the day following our 21-day fast.  Reading the scripture further and studying commentaries, Doug recognized another interesting point. According to the Jewish Sacred Calendar, the first month of the year  falls somewhere between March to May, depending upon the year.  The first month is marked by the Passover season in the Jewish faith.  For the church, the Passover season coincides with Easter, commemorating Christ’s resurrection.  As we conclude our 21-day Daniel fast, we are believing God for a fresh word for our personal lives, churches and ministries in this new millennium.

Further study revealed that Daniel was weary and weak.  When he received the word of the Lord, he received fresh strength and encouragement.  Doug has been sharing a continuing, developing message over the past few years that “It’s time to have a baby”... but we need “strength to deliver”.  As he says, “There are great things happening in the Body of Christ but at the same time the enemy is attacking with great intensity.  We need God’s strength as never before to go to the next level. The only way we will receive the strength needed for breakthroughs and for revival is through a direct word and touch from God.”  Doug believes God will honor earnest, fervent, united and corporate times of prayer.

We need to undergird our pastors and leaders at this time, as many are under attack physically and in other ways. As Doug shared, “The increased level of spiritual warfare requires a deeper level of commitment and discipline in all of our lives. When our leaders are strong, everyone will benefit. We need God’s strength to deliver.  As we press in to God during this 21-day Daniel fast, I believe He will renew our strength as He speaks a fresh word to our heart.”

We welcome you to join with us in Houston, Texas and with our affiliates around the world. Please forward your prayer request to us.  You may either fax them to our office at (713) 621 - 2076 or e-mail them to tpmail@tpmi.org.

God may be asking you to join us in this fast.  If so, we welcome you to unite with us in prayer as we seek God for renewed strength to deliver!

A covenant relationship is a life-long pledge, an unbreakable oath, which God Himself initiates and promises to sustain. Contained within His promise is His unalterable commitment not only to fulfill His highest plan of redemption but also to supply grace and faith to His human counterparts along the way. Together, the all-sufficient God and a believing man accomplish the impossible through their covenant relationship.

*PERSONAL PRAYER WEB SITE-?

>From: “Bonnie” <MYBMW1@peoplepc.com>

I have just been introduced to your website and am positively thrilled to see God’s hands in so many places. I have now put you and this mission on my prayer list.

I do have one question. Do you know of a website where someone can ask

for personal prayer intercession? If so, and if you have the time, could you

give me the address if there is such a site? Thanking you in advance for

attention to this question and for the glorious work that seems to be coming

from this website. In Praise of God, Jesus and His Church, I remain, Bonnie

*UNITED PRAYER LEADS TO DRUG BUST

>From: JEastDulce@cs.com

We are in NW Illinois, about 2-3 hours west of Chicago, a city of about 30,000 in a county of about 50,000. We have a nearly 20% composite minority population in Freeport, but only about 7% countywide. There are about 115 churches in the area, about 65 in Freeport.  As far as I know the largest weekend regular attendance of any one church is about 850-900 people. There are probably only 2 churches in the area with this kind of attendance.  Rockford 25 miles to the East is a city of about 150,000, with a county of about 500,000. There are several large growing churches there. Bob Griffen is leading a charge for lighthouses, revival praying, and concerts of prayer.

There were approximately 200 believers from 20 different congregations at our recent Concert of Prayer. There were 12 or 13 ministers and Pastors there.  We had an interdenominational, interracial choir, a praise team, and 3 individual church choirs.  We had 2 hours of prayer with praise and worship in between each segment. The sense of God’s presence and power was awesome.

Last month through prayer walking the neighborhood, asking God to cut off the supply of drugs, and to save or convict by law those involved in selling drugs, we had the biggest drug bust ever in our city. Among 8 other dealers, they netted a Chicago based dealer and a local guy who were the 2 main suppliers for the region out here. We still need to see many more to catch the vision for lighthouses and prayer walking, but hopefully the upcoming training along with the results we’ve seen recently will help.

Please pray for us. God bless,    Jon Eastlick

*NEW SITE FOR PRAYER AND INTERCESSION

>From: “Vance Welker” <vance@glorytoglory.com>

Greetings, all—I’d like to introduce a new Christian website - a

website dedicated to the Glory of God, designed by the inspiration of the

Holy  Spirit and developed under His direction and oversight.  The URL is

http://www.glorytoglory.com }www.glorytoglory.com.  Please feel free to stop

by and check out this site.

The purpose of this site is to help people find Christian and Messianic (Jewish believers in Jesus) churches that will meet their needs.  A powerful, easy-to-use search engine searches the site’s database for churches with the characteristics and geographic location specified by the user.  Clicking on a link on the results page brings up one or more information-packed pages about the selected church.

Included on this site is a link for sending prayer requests to a dedicated intercessor.  Prayer requests are treated confidentially, are encrypted for security, and may be sent anonymously, if desired.

An extensive links page contains links to a number of excellent resources - two Spiritual Gifts analyses, Bible studies, multi-translation Bible searches, Christian Internet searches, Christian downloads, academic, family and health resources, legal and financial resources, links to various ministries and much, much more. The site will soon include similar searches for Christian and Messianic schools and businesses, including home-owned businesses.

Biblically Christian and Messianic churches worldwide are welcome and encouraged to join.  Please forward this announcement to your fellow pastors and all of your friends and encourage them to do the same.  Perhaps they or someone they know would benefit by this site, or would like to have their churches included here. Thank you very much.

In Him, Vance Welker

*CAPITOL PRAYER TOUR THREAT

>From: “Crosswalk.com” <editor@crosswalk.com>

...A minister won the right to lead people in prayer at the U.S.  Capitol. Pierre Bynum, associate pastor of Waldorf Christian Assembly in Charles County, Md., filed a federal lawsuit after Capitol Police threatened to arrest him (see link #1 below) in November 1996 in the Capitol Rotunda for conducting a self-guided “prayer tour” of the building, saying his group of eight people was staging an illegal, disruptive demonstration, news reports said.

...Bynum was not staging a demonstration, and the group caused no disturbance and had a constitutional right to engage in free speech, U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman ruled March 31.  ...”We were absolutely stupefied” by the threat of arrest, Bynum told The Washington Post. “We were praying for our country.” Bynum, 51, is a leader of Capitol Hill Prayer Alert (see link #2 below), a Christian ministry that prays for the United States and its leaders.

...His prayer tour was part of a 40-day prayer vigil. He said he had taken groups on similar tours about 30 times before he was threatened with arrest, the Post said. That day he was leading his family and a small church group to various historic sites in the building, occasionally pausing to raise topics for reflection, and people in the group closed their eyes, bowed their heads, and folded their hands. Bynum said he originally sought an apology from Capitol Police, believing the incident was a misunderstanding, but filed suit in June 1997 when officials defended their actions.

...Government lawyers said prayer had been banned in the building unless conducted in the chapel or other designated places at the invitation of members of Congress. They cited a 1946 federal law making it illegal to “parade, demonstrate, or picket” in the Capitol, and a Capitol Police regulation that defines demonstrations as conduct that conveys a message or supports a point of view and that draws a crowd of onlookers. Friedman struck down the regulation as unconstitutionally vague, and said the federal law was aimed at preventing disruptions in Congress, not “quiet praying.”

...”The U.S. Capitol is a symbol of freedom and free speech,” said James Henderson of the American Center for Law and Justice, which defended Bynum. “We are grateful the court found that prayer is protected speech, not a form of demonstration.”

*TIME TO TAKE A “PRAYER”  NAP?

>From: PastorsInPrayer@aol.com

Journal Entry-November 1969- “Bob, when are you going to get serious about the Holy Spirit?”  These words came from Charlotte Sigl, the dear  lady who has prayed for Marilyn and me ever since we have been in Ft.Wayne As she stood at my study door, I said in my mind, “Oh Charlotte, not today.”  Then she was gone, like an angel  appearing  only for a moment.  Her question would not leave my mind.  “ Get serious about the Holy Spirit?”  What does that mean ..... how can I do that?  Not today, so many appointments, and calls to be made.  Yet.....when will I do this if not today?

Reflections-April 6, 2000-

As I remember that morning 24 years ago, I remember calling my secretary,  “Jan, I don’t know what is on my schedule for today, but cancel it!  I’m going home to read my Bible.”  Did I really say that?  Yes, not only did it happen that way, but I did go home.  I lay there on my bed, so weary, so driven, so without feeling for the Lord.  In about 20 minutes I was sound asleep.

Then the guilt and shame hit me!  Not able to  read God’s Word for even 20 minutes?  Later that day the Holy Spirit gave me insight.   I was weary, more than I had realized.  Sleep was not a sin.  Sometimes the most religious thing a man can do is rest.  Once mind and body are restored, the attention span returns.

That encounter with a woman of God who spoke directly to a pastor who was

too

busy changed my ministry.  The days following  were filled with more of

God’s

Word.  A new pilgrimage led me to an awareness and presence I had before not

known.

As my son wrote later about his search for more of Christ, “ The Lord Jesus

and I have been slowly, carefully building our personal relationship ever

since. I can see now how He  always had me under His care, and when my

spirit

was ready to accept Him in faith, He spoke to me.” Mark went on to say, “The

more I open up and turn what I thought was important over to Him, the closer

and more intimately I come to know Him.”

For Mark, this was the beginning of his adult faith walk.  For me, it was going on in a deeper trust and discovery of who Jesus really is.  “Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

(II Cor, 3:17 NASB)

Blessings- bob and marilyn yawberg

*IT ISN’T HARD TO GET A VISION

>From: Onie M Kittle <oni-prayerexplosion1@juno.com>

Have you ever prayed, that God would let you “be there” when His presence invaded a gathering - where confession was real and revival fell and  you knew you would never be the same. I’ve attended many prayer gatherings and even many Summits, but none compares to the glory of the presence of the Lord as we knelt together, unashamedly, on our knees, and worshipped the Name above all names.

We began the four-day Summit allowing the Lord to create a “safe place.> He revealed His NAME, the “strong tower” into which we - who were clothed in the righteousness of Christ - “could run.”

We sang praises to God; we read scripture to God; we prayed to God;  we spent time alone in focused meditation and privately sought God.  And, the Lord drew us into worship - wonderful, life-changing worship.  Worship that turned our focus fully to the wonder of His love and grace.  Worship that, at times found us quiet, together in awe of His presence.

Picture, if you will, pastors, leaders; men, women; Caucasian,  Spanish, Native Americans, Asian, “lifting up holy hands together” with one prayer, “Come, Lord Jesus.” Armin Gesswein, elder statesman of the prayer movement, said, “It  isn’t hard to get a vision. Visions are easy to come by. It is bringing them about that takes sustained, perseverance in prayer.”

Joe Albright, founder of Pastors Prayer Summits, often relays his original question that led to the Pastors Prayer Summits, “How do you sustain a move of God that lasts?” He believes, as we do, that it can only be through corporate, united prayer.

God has given the ABC USA leaders a great vision to win the lost. It must be sustained by prayer. We felt that we were the remnant - and that God will honor our  prayers. Thank you for joining us and for interceding for us as we gathered. Blessings, oni (Mrs. Onie M. Kittle)
