* PASTOR PHIL'S PRAYER LETTER
A a recent meeting, the lord gave me this
encouragement:
"Small in number; strategic in purpose."
The meeting was wonderful (good
diversity and sincere humility among the leaders) but the attendance was
disappointing (50 came when twice or three times that number was anticipated).
Which is why the "small " but "strategic" word was so
vital. God used it to remind me that I am called to listen for His plan, obey and
persevere. I have permission to be disappointed but not discouraged to the
point of judging those who do not heed the call nor quitting the process of
calling the Church to prayer.
Your stories and strategies also encourage me; God is at work.
Here where I live. There, where you live. Everywhere!
(forgive the spiritual spin on a Beatles tune)
.Please thank God for
His continued faithfulness to us financially. This year's support need increases
as my wife Carol will join me in ministry, so...
.Petition Him to raise that support on our behalf by
placing a burden for our ministry in the hearts of people who can contribute
financially
.Continue to ask the Lord to grant me wisdom; I find
myself more and more in strategic planning situations that have the potential of
impacting God's work in many lives, in many congregations, and throughout many
cities.
Blessed by you,
Pastor Phil

Two cities, Fairmont, IN and Shadyside, OH, reported similar accounts of the power
of prayer. Both communities were preparing for a JESUS video distribution
last Easter. Prayer was initiated - prayerwalking being one of the
strategies. During that time new people started coming to church! One man, who
hadn't been to church for over 20 years, came for worship.
Before a JESUS video mailing, a man from Trimble County, KY, was waiting
outside the Assembly of God Church for the doors to open. He said he had a dream
about his need for Jesus and wanted to be saved. Christians had been praying
throughout the county for people's hearts to be readied for JESUS.

"Triune God, some of us feel we come closest to you when we are in
solitary silence, and some of us feel closest to you when we are in a circle of
intercessors, some of us feel closest to you when your Spirit is moving us to
ecstatic utterances, and some of us feel closest to you when, joined with saints
of the ages, we use ancient liturgies. But closeness to you is not
determined by the form of our prayers. It is your gift of love to us, to
enter our hearts and dwell within us. Come, Lord Jesus, fill us with your
presence. Renew your Spirit in us. And may we so demonstrate your
Presence that others will know that you are near. Amen.”

Collegians' Prayers Touched Every Superdome Seat
"The story of how a group of Baptist college students was able to
prayerwalk one of the nation's largest domed stadiums is a miracle," said
Tim Knopps, a consultant hired by a Baptist group to coordinate Super Bowl
ministries, as reported by Baptist Press. It seems the National Football
League (NFL) needed to get a group of people to distribute gift bags on each
seat inside the Superdome, and they ended up getting more than 400 Baptist
Campus Ministry students to do it.
The students from Louisiana State University, Tulane, Northwestern and other
Louisiana schools paid their own way to New Orleans for the two-day project.
They turned their assignment into a "prayer journey" and blessed each
seat, praying "for the salvation and safety of the person sitting in the
seat, and for obedience to God."
Knopps said the crew finished before the NFL expected them to, and were quite
pleased with the results. Also, the NFL paid the students $8,000, which is
to be designated for a summer collegiate mission trip.

Roger Schoenhals, founder of PAPA3, is an ordained elder in the FM church and
served several years as editor of Light and Life Magazine.
What started as a personal quest for spiritual vitality has become a network of
believers committed to a special time of prayer. PAPA3 (Pause and Pray at 3) is
a group of men, women and young people who desire to draw closer to their
heavenly Father through prayer. Roger Schoenhals, who started this unique prayer
initiative, states "PAPA3ers are located all over and include Catholics,
Baptists, Free Methodists, Presbyterians, Nazarenes, retirees, pastors,
missionaries, professionals and politicians."
In his invitation to join PAPA3, Schoenhals shares "During my many years as
a Christian, I have found it difficult to maintain spiritual vitality
consistently throughout the day. Even though I may start the morning with a
personal quiet time and walk into the day with a singing heart, I often find
myself dragging, spiritually, by supper time."
The discovery of three references in the New Testament regarding prayer at three
led Schoenhals to try setting aside time to pray at three in the afternoon each
day. A couple of failed attempts to establish the habit didn't dissuade him from
trying once again. He writes, "The potential of a regular break in the day
for a moment of prayer and reflection continued to haunt me. There ought to be a
way to succeed! And then I thought: What if I could draw others into the
practice? What a difference it could mean to them! Perhaps bringing together a
network of "prayer partners" would elicit a degree of accountability
and a mutual adventure that could provide the impetus for consistent practice,
for all of us. The possibilities danced in my mind."
It was on September 18, 2000, while having lunch with a pastor friend that Roger
Schoenhals was finally successful in launching his prayer initiative. Schoenhals
remembers, "While we were sharing thoughts about our spiritual journeys, I
decided to tell him about my pray-at-three idea. To my delight, he picked up on
it and said he wanted to try it with me . . . Monday through Thursday, at least
for a couple of months. So we made a covenant to pray at three." He goes on
to relate, "So my friend and I started "meeting" for prayer at
three . . . and e-mailing each other along the way. Another friend joined the
prayer circle and soon the three of us were finding hearty companionship in this
new adventure. As we have passed the idea along to others, we have found further
interest and involvement." From that beginning, PAPA3 has grown into a
worldwide network.
If you are interested in more information about this unique program, or to sign
up as a participant, you can correspond with Roger Schoenhals via email at PAPA3@pgtoday.com.
Messages to participants (which include a daily devotional by Schoenhals) are
sent as "blind copies" so that your e-mail address remains
confidential and others will not know who is and who is not part of the network.
Participants are asked to pray for at least 3 minutes at 3:00 p.m. (their time)
Monday through Thursday. Their commitment is for three months at a time and can
be renewed.
When asked what impact PAPA3 has had on his life personally, Roger Schoenhals
responded: "PAPA3 has blessed my life immeasurably. It has taken a good
year to personally get into the 3 p.m. groove to where it is rare that I miss
this time of prayer. In fact, early in the afternoon I find myself anticipating
the appointment, checking my watch periodically and looking forward to how I
will spend the time. I think it has sensitized me to prayer at other times
during the day (and night), as well. The fellowship with others via the Internet
has also been rewarding. I am a prayer partner with many folks whom I've never
met face to face . . . and over time, we get acquainted. I receive wonderful
notes of praise, devotional insights and various prayer requests. And,
certainly, I have benefited from the discipline of writing mediations for the
prayer network."

Subject: Man carrying a cross 1,000 miles for prayer in schools
Dear Pastor Phil:
You might be interested in Garlin Newton's 1,000-Mile walk carrying a cross to
Washington, D.C., to encourage unrestricted Christian prayer in public schools.
Garlin started from Little Rock, Ark., and today is sixty to seventy-five miles
east of there. He will finish this walk on April 20 (the anniversary of the
Columbine shooting) for that same cause. Garlin will present a prayer petition
to Oklahoma Congressman Istook and carries a Bible for President Bush.
Carrying the Cross to Columbine, a book authored by Garlin and published by The
Colbert House details his 700-mile trek from Oklahoma City to Columbine High
School in Littleton, Colorado, for prayer in public schools.
Garlin encountered a wide range of people on his trip. He thought one man
pointed a gun at him; he was almost run over five times; he walked through gangs
and was cursed several times. He often prayed for people and was often
acknowledged with the third finger of fellowship. This sometimes humorous and
sometimes heart-rending story at all times reflects Newton's love for Christ,
his sincerity, and his zeal to be
obedient.
His walk drew nationwide coverage. A Denver Post article said, "When Garlin
Newton walked from his Oklahoma City home to Columbine High School in November,
shouldering a cross and a sign reading, 'God wants prayer back in school,' he
unwittingly launched a roadside referendum."
If you are interested in this title or in doing a radio interview with Garlin

>From: "Revival Congresses SA" <mwtedeum@mweb.co.za>
Revival results in greater power and purity in the Church. But what does this
mean in practical terms? First, it means that long-standing habits
of self-indulgence, that surrender neither to reason nor to God, will be broken
when revival comes. Unconfessed sins that have been covered over for years will
be brought to light. The interesting thing about the exposure of sin in times of
revival is that the fear and shame which usually accompany such moments are
thought of as nothing in comparison with the prospect of forgiveness and
cleansing.
Second, it means that the plans and strategies of the Church are thrown
into upheaval and disarray. Goals and ambitions once thought to be of the
utmost spiritual importance are seen to be but temporal. God’s timing, God’s
purpose, God’s plans rule the day. Some church structures may collapse when
revival comes, but are then rebuilt "according to the pattern shown in the
Mount" (Hebrews 8:5, AV).
A third result of revival is the breaking of the will. When God
moves from heaven in extraordinary power, all that stands in opposition to Him
may be expected to be broken and cast aside. Pastors, elders and leaders will be
broken by revival. Men who have preached interesting and eloquent sermons may
discover their ministry has the value of "wood, hay and stubble".
Sermons and messages which seemed satisfactory enough in previous days will
never do for revival. God, the Master Workman, will break the congregation, too.
Men and women, who had resisted Him and His Word, now find themselves pliant and
ready to do His bidding. But the breaking always leads to remaking. God not only
pulls down - He builds up.
A fourth result of revival among the people of God is that holiness
becomes the prime object of their lives. To be like Jesus often becomes the
theme song of a revival. Christians are consumed with the desire to conform to
Christ’s image, and the principle of Romans 8:29 - "God decided that
those who came to him... should become like his son" - becomes the
dominating passion of their lives. The great truths of Scripture are no longer
relegated to group discussions in church on a Sunday or in a midweek house
group, but are lived out on a daily basis and applied in every exigency of life.
Revived people are truly a holy people.
A fifth result of the revival is that Christians become greatly
burdened for the souls of unbelievers. Prayer for the eternal welfare of
those outside of Christ becomes a passion. Someone said that the word that is
characteristic of revival is the word ‘Oh’. It comes out continually in the
prayers of those who agonize for the lost. "Oh God," they cry,
"save those who are dying in sin." Nothing short of lasting
conversions will satisfy the saints in a time of the revival. They pray that the
same liberating Spirit that broke and remade them will do the same in the hearts
of their friends, families, acquaintances and the people throughout the world.
New converts are made without arm-twisting. No elaborate plans for follow-up are
necessary as new coverts stand on their own feet from the moment of conversion.
A sixth result of revival is that Christians begin to manifest the
love of Christ toward on and another. Those who have borne grudges or have
gossiped about other Christians go to those they have wronged and ask for their
forgiveness. Maintaining a clear conscience becomes a matter of paramount
importance. Those who have sinned privately make their confession to God whom
they have wronged. Those who have sinned publicly find the grace and the
strength to make a public confession. A watching world will look on in amazement
as it sees Christians, who hitherto lived hypocritical lives, now take their
faith seriously. The light that shines in a revived Church cannot be put out. It
shines more and more until the perfect day (Article written by Selwyn Hughes).

Prayerwalking Guide
For use during the Revival Bicentennial Prayerwalk of Charlotte and Mecklenburg
County
Steve Hawthorne, one of the pioneers of prayerwalking, has said that
prayerwalking is "praying on-site with insight." This is especially
true as we pray during the Revival Bicentennial Prayerwalk on March 26-30, 2002,
for we pray on-site in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County with the historical
insight that God sent dramatic revival and the Second Great Awakening here in
March of 1802, and with the spiritual insight and belief that He is able to send
revival and spiritual awakening again, in 2002.
Use this prayerwalking guide as a starting place for your intercession on behalf
of the places and people where we live and serve. This is adapted from an
article by Steve Hawthorne, using the Lord’s prayer as it’s scriptural
basis.
Let this guide help you to pray, but let the Holy Spirit lead your praying, so
that as you intercede, you will be praying what is on God’s heart for our
city, county, and region. He is faithful, He will guide us to pray, and He is
fully able to answer!
Our Father in heaven...
We come near You in heaven by the way of Jesus. We come near our community
in prayer so that a way would be opened for You in our lives.
Hallowed be Your name...
We want You to be honored in this place, Lord, recognized by every single
person. You are worthy of praise for who You are and for what You are already
doing in the lives of our people. Here’s our request: Reveal who You are by
name. Answer right-now prayers in Jesus’ name so that You will be explicitly
exalted. Work in their lives so that You alone will be honored, feared, thanked,
and praised. We know that You have done this before here, Lord, so please do it
again!
Your Kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven...
We believe You will be followed right here in this place as surely as You
are obeyed in heaven. Come, loving King! Confront us with Your healing power.
Subdue our rebellion against You. Transform these hearts to follow You soon.
Turn us together toward You, so that we might do Your will as individuals, as
families, even as an entire community of loyal obedience.
Give us this day our daily bread...
We ask You to provide every daily need for the people in this place. Prompt
us to pray specifically for those we see in need, and lead us to discern how we
can put action behind our prayers to minister to those around us by the power of
Your Spirit. Teach us daily dependence on You, Lord Jesus.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors...
Our community is trapped in a tangle of transgressions. Only Your
forgiveness can set us free. However deep or long standing the sins of our city
may be, we beg You Lord, bring forth a wave of healing and reconciliation on the
very streets where we walk and pray.
Lord, we remember how those who were blessed by revival here 200 years ago were
deeply grieved over their sin, and repented, crying out to You for mercy. Cause
Your people here, Lord, to be grieved by sin again, so that we can experience
Your forgiving power.
May forgiveness spread from person to person, throughout families, and between
the races, and heal our community, our city, our area, our land.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one...
Deliver, Lord! Deliver the people we see in this place from the predicaments
we know from our own personal sin history. Help these ones escape the traps they
have built and Satan has baited. Break the vicious cycles of addiction and pride
in this place in Jesus’ name. We know that the enemy of our souls is fighting
to keep us from experiencing You and Your reviving work. Help us to resist him,
Lord, and to see him flee as we submit to You in humble worship.
For Yours in the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
- Matthew 6:9-13
We recognize Your sole sovereignty here, Lord. We see Your power already at
work. And we can almost glimpse the radiant beauty of Your fullest glory dawning
upon this place. We give You our praise now.
Unite the hearts of Christians across our area in prayer for a fresh move of
Your Spirit in this place. Unite churches in praise and prayer for revival and
spiritual awakening. Unite the eyes of this community to see You soon, and to
give You explicit honor. You deserve highest praise with our every breath, Lord
Jesus!
Go to http://www.waymakers.org for
more prayer helps.
Prayerwalking is praying onsite with insight, being on the scene without making
a scene, praying blessings for those around you as specifically as possible.
Consider practicing this method of prayer outreach and evangelism in your own
neighborhood, at your workplace, at school...wherever God leads you to pray for
others. You’ll be glad you did!

Easter weekend marks the start of Operation Starting Line's third year of
multi-ministry collaborative outreach to prisoners, their children and the
mentoring of ex-prisoners. This year OSL will hold a special in-prison
event at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, LA. Warden Crane has
opened the doors of the prison to many new opportunities for ministry.
Praise the Lord! Angola prison houses 5,300 inmates of which about
4,300 will be able to attend the event. The event will take place in the
Rodeo Arena, which can seat 7,500, and OSL hopes to fill the stadium. The
public has been invited as well as inmates from nine other prisons. Chuck
Colson will be in attendance as will Charlie Daniels, Aaron Neville, Larry
Howard, Leslie Kent, Matt and Mary Seward, and several inmate bands. Pray
the Lord would guide the preparations for this event and allow everything to go
smoothly. Pray that the Lord would bring about a great harvest of souls
among all those present.
Please lift up the OSL campaigns to begin in Kansas, April 11th - 22nd, and
Pennsylvania, May 16th - 26th. Pray the Lord would fling wide the doors of
the prisons in these states for Operation Starting Line to come in and deliver
the gospel message. Ask the Lord to allow for smooth and thorough
preparation. Ask the Lord to send His Holy Spirit and prepare the hearts
and minds of the prisoners and correctional staff so they would be ready to
receive the Word. Pray for a great army of volunteers to rise up and take
the joyful burden of this ministry upon themselves and their churches in both of
these states.

>From: Mission Hollywood <hollywood@donpaul.org>
Greetings and a praise report from the media center of the world!
Thank all of you who prayed and supported us during this latest mission.
We actually brought a *"family values"* atmosphere into a normally
very dark film market. What on earth are we talking about?
The American film market or the AFM held each year in Santa Monica CA.
The result of this market always affects the spirit that goes out through the
entire world.
This is the largest film market in the world as 70 countries from around the
world purchase films at this market and the rest of the world will be touched
for good or evil by the out come of this market.
There were some Christians who worked at the film market that we spoke with who
were unaware of our *"Air Raid"* campaign and *"Mission
Hollywood"* target AFM.
They reported that this was the first film market that they and their colleges
were not dreading going to. Usually the pornography and filth is overwhelming at
this market as well as the sexual conduct of "wanabe" actresses
throwing themselves at the industry people.
Because of you who helped us at http://www.MissionHollywood.org
this is the first time they didn't feel like they needed to take a shower and a
bath and another shower just to feel clean after this market. They said the most
popular topic for the first time in history was *"Family Values"* This
was the goal we set to do, create an atmosphere of *"family values"*
over this market. And we all did it together!
You see by affecting the atmosphere over this market we have affected the spirit
that will go out into the world.
Special thanks to World Vision and the prayer support they were able to gather
but especially to the people who came in from across the nation and around the
world to actually walk the grounds and attended the *"Prophetic Assault Air
Raids"* during this film market. /*(Please see below)*/ Remember Joshua and
Caleb had to actually go in face the spiritual giants and possess or occupy the
land not just pray for it to be destroyed. Thank you ground troops!
http://www.MissionHollywood.org
is focused on bringing in the level of revelation and strategies of the Lord
into the Churches in this region as well as across the land.
Consider this for a moment; can you change a region without changing the people?
Can you change the people without changing the leaders they follow? Can you
change the leaders if they are deaf not having ears to hear or eyes to see what
the Spirit is actually saying?
It is God's heart to bless all of His creation however ahead there is a battle
to be fought and won in order to walk in the level of the blessings God has
intended. God always reveals to His prophets FIRST, and if we receive the word
and revelations of God's prophets we will prosper, according to the Bible we say
we believe and follow and consult for correct doctrinal procedures correct?
Please visit our website http://www.MissionHollywood.org
for more details on our continuing series *"Discerning and following the
"real" spirit of Caleb"* These gatherings are both filled with
the Presence the Love and the Supernatural Power of God and this is an on going
series of meetings right in the heart of the media control center.
Every Saturday Night 7:00 PM 1450 Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica. Corner of Broadway
and Ocean.
If you didn't know, the majority of the producers and decision makers have moved
to the Westside and this costal region over the last 7 years. This is the heart
of the decision makers. It is also where many prophets including Cindy Jacobs
have been prophesying God wants to start revival this summer. Millions will be
along this Coast in Santa Monica and Venice this summer. By changing the
*"spirit"* over this region and demonstrating the supernatural power
of God we will continue to effectively tear down what many cults have erected in
the hearts and imaginations of these key millionaires who influence media,
business and governments throughout the world.
Blessings and we look forward to seeing you at these Saturday meetings http://www.missionHollywood.org

16. REVIVAL
BICENTENNIAL PRAYERWALK
>From:"Metrolina PrayerLetter" <prayer@metrolinaprayer.net>
In celebration of what God did in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County during the
Great Carolina Revival 200 years ago in 1802, we are planning a Revival
Bicentennial Prayerwalk around Mecklenburg County during the days that the camp
meeting was held in this county in March, 1802. The schedule will be out
soon, but for now, we need to build our group of prayerwalkers, intercessors who
are willing to literally put feet to their prayers, walking throughout
Mecklenburg County and Charlotte on March 26-30, Tuesday-Saturday of Holy Week,
2002.
If you would like to participate, please respond to this email with your name
and phone number so that we can begin contacting those who can cover the 9
Prayer Zones of Mecklenburg County.
You will be asked to prayerwalk in your zone on the assigned day in late March.
The zones cover: central Charlotte/Mecklenburg, East Charlotte, North
Mecklenburg, East Mecklenburg-Mint Hill, Matthews-Southeast Charlotte,
Pineville-South Charlotte, Southwest Charlotte-Mecklenburg, West
Charlotte-Mecklenburg, and Northeast Charlotte-University area.
We will also be praying for the churches we pass as we prayerwalk the
city-county. Watch for the planned route, and be ready to pray for your
church with us as we come your way.
We will be publicizing the planned Revival Bicentennial Prayerwalk soon...so
please help us get our prayerwalking team ready to cover this city and county
with believing prayer, thanking God for what He did before, and asking God to
send revival and awakening again!
For Christ and His Kingdom!
