PERSONAL UPDATE FROM PASTOR PHIL  -  07/01/2001

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Dear NPPNet Family,
A personal update from Pastor Phil

²Thank YOU!²

Dear Family & Friends
A letter to family and friends

Prayer INC.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

€Dear NPPNet Family,

Please allow me to share a personal update with you.

(FYI - I¹ve posted below a letter to our family and friends plus information about our new support ministry, Prayer Inc.)

Today marks a significant change in my ministry and I want you to know some of the details.

Since our beginning four years ago, I have happily served the NPPN in a volunteer capacity.  During these past four years, the congregation I served (The Woodfield Church, concluding June 30, 1999) then the ministry I coordinated (Strategic Focus Cities Chicagoland) have been gracious to allow me this additional passion.

On June 30, 2001 my role as SFC Chicagoland Coordinator concluded (I hope to forward you a report of the amazing work God did through those 250 plus churches).

On July 1, 2001 my next phase of ministry began and with it the freedom to focus full-time on mobilizing strategic prayer.  A wonder-filled change with several implications:
   -A Clearer Vision
   -A Tested Faith
   -A Disproportionate Impact

A Clearer Vision ---
The Spirit has given me the vision of serving the church in her great commitment to fulfill the great commission by incorporating prayer:
   .In Churches
   .Among Pastors
   .Throughout Cities
   .Across Nations

€ In Churches
I am now able to bring the message of strategic corporate prayer to congregations; large and small, in any denomination, in any location. Sunday sermons. Weekend workshops. Uncommon Weeknight Prayer Meetings.  ³What Would Jesus Pray?² ³How Jesus Builds A House of Prayer.²

€ Among Pastors
Through the ongoing and, I hope you¹ll soon see and agree, the improved NPPN, the work of incorporating prayer among pastors must grow.  Pastors praying with pastors is vital for a new Church in the new millennium.  The NPPN Updates will continue to chronicle the prayer movement, unlike any other prayer publication.  The NPPN PPG web site will expand significantly in the months ahead.

€ Throughout Cities
Not working for a specific congregation or organization allows me to serve throughout the Body of Christ.  Through my friends in Mission America and the City Impact Roundtable I hope to serve the city reaching movement in cities across the country by facilitating pastors¹ roundtables and retreats as well as concerts of praise and prayer.

€ Across Nations
Since God has given me a vision of a Global Network of National Pastors¹ Prayer Networks, I anticipate He will provide opportunities to cast this vision to others from other nations, in other nations.

I also believe He has given me the name for this new ministry; the foundation for all the others. Prayer Inc. will become the ministry that enables me to design and develop the NPPN; serve with the Pray Chicago Servant Leadership Team networking prayer throughout my home city; partner with Mission America and City Impact Roundtable; and if needed, travel to cities where pastors and prayer leaders are seeking the word and will and way of Jesus for city transformation.

A Tested Faith

While I¹ve looked forward to this day, the opportunity to serve the Body of Christ across lines of nation and denomination, I have not looked forward to the financial changes that follow. Asking people for money has never been at the top of my ³love to do this² list.

Thanks to the prayers of those closest to Carol and me, the Lord has already supplied enough finances for me to begin this quest and I am confident He will continue to supply.  My request is you¹d pray with me for abundant finances for Prayer Inc. so this ministry meets more than my personal needs.  It is my deep hope that Prayer Inc will produce resources and provide scholarships to pastors and prayer leaders for training and to experience strategic corporate prayer.

I am committed to keeping the NPPN a free service to all who are interested.  You will see additional options in the future that will aim to bless the reader and provide financial support for the ministry.

A Disproportionate Impact

Still with me?  While this memo is about me, it is also about the way God is at work in our day.  He is multiplying the energies and effects of one as He networks individuals together for a greater impact.  And, the really great part is that as the Lord connects one anybody like me with another anybody like you, the results are disproportionate.  One plus one becomes one times one. Disproportionate impact.  For the Kingdom of God.

So, as you can see, the option to say no to this vision or ask God for an easier path is simply NOT an option.  It is my hope we will see the vision fulfilled as we welcome and pass the tests of faith so that the Lord releases a disproportionate impact of His love and eternal life upon the unexpecting masses of lost people.  As we serve one another. In His name and for His glory!

Thanks for caring about us,

Phil & Carol

²Thank YOU!²

At the risk of leaving your name off the list, allow me to say ³Thank You!² to some of those who have made it possible for me to share this vision and venture with you:

Southern Baptist Convention; Bob Moore and Doug Metzger (Strategic Focus Cities), Chris Schofield and Thomas Wright (North American Mission Board), John Franklin (LifeWay), Jim Queen - Ray Fuller - Bob Ryan - Larry Wartsbaugh (Directors of Mission), Bill Weedman (IL Baptist Assn)  plus all their gracious administrative assistants

€Dear Family, Friends, and Ministry Colleagues ---

Many of you have asked ³What is happening to you guys on July 1st?² because you¹ve heard that my current ministry role ends on June 30.

We want you to know how grateful we are for your interest, concern for our future, and especially your prayers!  God is ³overly blessing us² - which we¹ll share in this letter.

First, a little chronology...
€June, 1999 marked the end of my pastoral ministry with The Woodfield Church. Carol and I spent 19 years serving in that role but in the final few years the Lord turned my attention more and more toward a prayer networking ministry.  As the congregation and elders affirmed and blessed us, we stepped out in faith that this was a new season of ministry with a new call upon our lives.
€July, 1999 - Not long after we made this decision, an opportunity to serve full-time with the Strategic Focus Cities (SFC) initiative came along.  As City Coordinator, I facilitated four associations of Southern Baptist Churches (approximately 250 total churches) through an intensive two year effort of evangelism and church planting (PTL - over 100 new projects began; many will become fully functioning congregations).  My passion for prayer was welcomed and impacted many pastors and churches.
€January, 2001 - At the beginning of this year we began to pray more earnestly, asking the Lord to make clear His next step for us.  My personal prayer was that I would
not merely accept a job in order to have a regular pay check; I wanted to continue prayer networking and stay Chicago based. As July 1st grew closer, we prayed ³harder¹-!  And
so did some of you - TY.
€March, 2001 - While reading the forward to a book about someone who has been networking churches throughout his city in prayer, the Lord spoke to me. The passion to devote my compete focus on prayer ministry was truly His will for me and, since this was a God-idea, He would be responsible to meet our financial needs.
€April, 2001 - Ministry colleagues Jim and Karen Queen hosted a living room full of friends and associates in their home.  I shared our vision and calling and we received strong affirmation to pursue this dream and a faith infusion to trust God for the financial support we¹d need.  Since then, several who attended the meeting have indicated a commitment to support us on a regular basis.
€May 2001 - At my final official SFC meeting, the council leadership unanimously and graciously agreed to provide me with several months of financial support...then,
€June, 2001 - The Woodfield Church gave us a very generous gift - Like we said, God is abundantly blessing us.

What does all this mean?
   1.  We are moving from a paid-salary position to a raising-our-own-funds ministry.  No matter who signs our check, we all work for the Lord and He is the ultimate source of our income ... but this is a transition that will require a significant adjustment (prayers welcome).
   2.  We are blessed with an initial cushion of funds that gives us several months to build ongoing and regular support.
   3.  We are praying for ³abundant support² because our vision is bigger than just our salary.  It is our hope this new ministry will provide scholarships for underfunded pastors to attend prayer training and prayer retreats, produce new resources that assist pastors and church prayer leaders, and offer the premier web site networking pastors and prayer in America (check us out so far: http://www.nppn.org).

So, what exactly will I be doing?
-I will continue to serve the congregations involved in the SFC process; teaching on prayer and leading prayer gatherings.
-My love for Chicago grows and, like many of you for your own city, I am asking God for a fresh awareness of His grace and His love to spread throughout every neighborhood and ethnic community.  This new position gives me the freedom to reach across denominational lines to teach, network and resource.  I will continue to serve the city through Pray Ch!cago and the Chicagoland Prayer Summit.
-You may be aware of the email newsletter I began about four years ago, the National Pastors¹ Prayer Network.  I will continue to produce the Updates (about half a dozen different editions) but will now have the time to develop this ministry:
.Resources for Pastors¹ Prayer Groups (over 525 on our web site directory)
.National web site for city prayer ministry newsletters
.More articles for pastors and leaders of prayer (so far, we have 40+)
-I am also in prayer and conversation with several ministries regarding opportunities in my home state and on a national basis.
-I will begin to use ³Prayer INC² as the name of the foundation for all these other ministries. Incorporating prayer:
.In Churches - through preaching, teaching, and facilitating prayer
.Among Pastors - through the pastors¹ network and prayer groups
.Throughout Cities - as I partner with Mission America & City Impact
.Across Nations - because I am praying for a Global Network of networks!

Why are we writing and telling you all this?
~ We are hoping you will send a prayer of praise to God for His clear direction and His abundant provision.
~ We are also hoping you¹ll consider supporting us in prayer.  Send us your eddress (e-mail address) and we¹ll let you know what we¹re up to.
~ We also welcome your financial support.  The initial gifts we¹ve received will cover several months of personal expenses but will not enable us to bless pastors and build a world-class web site.  Gifts are tax deductible, will be receipted,  and will be administrated through the Chicago Metro Baptist Association but used exclusively for my prayer ministry.

Carol and I are grateful for the blessing of knowing you¹d read this and simply allow the Lord to let you know if any further ³assignment² comes from Him.

Gods BEST today,

Phil & Carol Miglioratti

P. S.   We are praying He will give you clear direction and abundant provision,
so you too can bless others in His name.
