INTERCESSORS FOR AMERICA
- Gifts For Children of Inmates
- 2004 Campaigns Right Around the Corner
- Ministry Expo and Conference in January
For many years now, Prison Fellowship Ministries and its staff
have worked hard and diligently to bring a smile to the many faces of children
whose parents are incarcerated. This, as you know, is a great testimony of the
love of Christ, not only to the children, but especially to the inmates, whose
children are receiving these gifts. Let us offer thanks and prayers to the Lord
for PFM, its staff, and the great work they have done this holiday season. Pray
also for many more to respond to the love of Jesus and the call to have a
personal relationship with Him. The success of this work greatly depends on the
ongoing relationships with and involvement of local churches and volunteers all
across this nation. Please pray also for this base to grow so that many more can
be reached!
A present need within the AngelTree program right now is for more mentors for
kids being reached by AngelTree all year long. Please pray for all the needs of
AngelTree to be met.
With 2004 only weeks away and our campaigns only a few months
away, the work is intensifying and our prayers must intensify also. The
following is a list of 2004 campaigns:
Texas (TDCJ Region 1): April 13 - 23
Florida (DOC Region 4): April 15 - 25
Florida (DOC Region 1): August 2 - 15
Texas (TDCJ Region 3): October 1 - 15
While preparations for the actual campaign week is still underway. Many
pre-campaign events will be taking place much sooner than the actual campaigns
themselves. Not only do the OSL staff and key coordinators have to plan for the
campaign, they have to also coordinate these pre-campaign events. So please pray
into this, both for the well-being of the staff and coordinators and the
logistics involved with event planning.
An area that is always critical to the success of every campaign is the area of
volunteer recruitment. Three things must be in place: (1) sufficient number of
volunteers. (2) well management of volunteers. (3) proper training and clearance
for volunteers.
Volunteers are usually recruited not only for the campaign, but also for the
long-term follow-up with inmates after they have been won to Christ. So please
pray accordingly for this aspect of campaign planning.
As part of the Operation Starting Line project in South
Florida, there will be a Ministry Expo, Thursday, January 15, 2004, 6:00 to 9:30
PM. The Expo will be held in conjunction with a banquet and concert with
Larnelle Harris, at the Signature Grand in Davie, FL. There is a limited amount
of exhibit space.
There will be a OSL Ministry Conference on Saturday, February 7, 2004. During
this all-day event, many collaborators will have the opportunity to provide
training opportunities in workshops to be conducted throughout the morning and
afternoon. The event will be in the Fort Lauderdale area, with exact location
details forthcoming.
Please pray for the planning and success of these events. Specifically, that
many people would come. As mentioned above, this is one of the pre-campaign
events. It is instrumental in building working relationships with local
churches, ministries, and volunteers for the upcoming campaign and its follow-up
aspect.
