AUSTIN ARISE!

Making Austin a City Prayed for …

Arise, shine;
        For your light has come!
And the glory of the LORD is risen upon you (Isaiah 60:1)

365 Prayer Project
Austin Arise! was birthed through prayers at a follow-up meeting of the recently concluded Mission America Coalition’s City Impact Roundtable conference. Fifty-seven Leaders, networkers, Pastors, and City-reachers from San Antonio, Austin to Dallas were in attendance.
“As the world moves towards unity, the Body of Christ must join together, not in mutual passivity, but in common enterprise, facing outward to embrace a greater and nobler challenge than that which we previously posed to each other”
Purpose of Austin Arise! 365 Prayer Project.
To make Austin and the region and a land prayed for, 24/7, 365 days of the year. The idea is to facilitate 365 area churches/ministries or more to agree to take at least one day of the year to have a 24-hour prayer chain, where they pray for the city, their immediate zip code or neighborhoods, and for the church that will pray on the following day.
To adopt our immediate zip codes or neighborhoods for effective prayer coverage.
To put wheels to prayer and evangelism—Pray, care & share.
Facilitate Light Houses of prayer all over the Austin region.
Prepare the City for mass harvest of souls through evangelism
To respect and celebrate praying in one accord in Christ Jesus.

INFORMATION ON 365 PRAYER PROJECT

In the past few years there has been a prayer initiative to pray for the city during the 40 days before Easter. Your Church may have participated in Seeking God for the City in the past few years.
One of the thoughts we believe God dropped in our hearts is to make our City, a City prayed for, 24/7/365. This is not entirely a new idea but God is releasing the strategy to have 365 churches or more cover the region in prayer round the year starting from September 1, 2003. The need for effectual fervent prayers of the righteous cannot be overemphasized.

1. Even though some Churches have signed up for some days in 2004, we have decided to take this project one quarter at a time. Hence, we are concentrating now on the last quarter of this year, 2003. Consequently, in the 122 day of the last quarter of 2003, 65 days have been allocated to different Churches and ministries, and a group of another 25 churches is about to adopt the whole of November. However, it’s pertinent to know that we still have a long way to go; some of the days signed up are based on 14-hour coverage, which means that we still have 8 hour yet to be covered.

2. Some Churches have signed up for more than one day. For example, a church has signed up for on whole week. So, you can sign up for more than one day.
Prayer begins at midnight of the day a Church adopted. For instance, Emmanuel United Methodist Church covering September 4 is expected to start by 12:00 AM and stop at 11:59 PM.

3.
Calendar is being assigned by months to volunteers to call about 700 churches in Greater Austin area to participate.

4.
Churches will be provided a list of things to pray for the city but encourage them to pray as the Lord leads for their community.  This is not to be for the specific needs of their church.  Guidelines should include worship as the foundation and pleading the blood over the congregation.  Leadership team should pray for the church that is covering on a particular day.  And, list is made available to churches so that they can be praying for the church that is covering that day.  We are listing all prayer meetings that have city focus on the calendar.  Prayer focus should include worship, evangelism, and compassion.

5.
Billboards with “This is a prayed for city” or “Austin Arise and shine!” is in the pipeline.

6.
Website with information accessible to all churches.  Web should list all City focused prayer meetings inside and outside of churches.

7.
POTENTIAL COLLABORATORS or endorsers include Mission America Coalition (Details) and about 20 other major Christian denominations and ministries in Austin area.

8.
We shall locate list of prayer ministries within and without the church for a more collaborative City focused prayer towards mass evangelism and regional awakening.

Mapping
Demographics:   geographic information systems

One map of Care/Compassion ministries in the city.
One map of areas of greatest spiritual needs for focused prayer.  Need to keep statistical records to show lowering of crime, etc.
