Greetings Intercessors,
Yesterday at a planning meeting for the National Leadership Forum, Bishop Ronald
Bailey of Love Gospel Assembly spoke about the need for the Church of New York
to come together in unity and prayer prior to the October 5th start of this
important event. Those gathered believe that Bishop Bailey spoke prophetically
the Word of the Lord as we head into the final months leading up to the NLF.
For those who might not be familiar with the National Leadership Forum, this is
the national annual conference of Mission America. Concerts of Prayer Greater
New York is partnering with Mission America and is the facilitator and host
ministry. Hundreds of Christian leaders from more than 100 cities across the
nation are converging on New York for this historic event. The theme of the NLF

Just as Lausanne helped define world evangelism for the past 30 years, the
National Leadership Forum may help define the American Church in the 21st
Century. A national Christian gathering of such significance has not occurred in
New York in 100 years. History may well record this gathering as a watershed
mark for the American Church as we venture into the 21st Century.
Bishop Bailey yesterday spoke of the great need to cover this event in prayer
well in advance so as to raise up a standard against the plans of the "enemy" to
foil this important gathering. Much questioning revolves around the relevancy of
the Church as we enter this new millennium. Our "enemy" would like nothing more
than to see the Church grow increasingly ineffective and irrelevant.
It is for this reason we are asking all who know how to "call upon the Lord" to
begin covering this event in prayer. Specifically:
- Pray a covering over all of the leadership team for personal protection -
Including Wayne Pederson and the Mission America team, Mac Pier and the Concerts
of Prayer team, all the speakers including John Perkins, Luis Palau, Tim Keller,
Suzanne Johnson Cook and A.R. Bernard.
- Pray for all the details and technology that must come together for this
event, that logistics of bringing over 1000 people to New York from across the
Nation would be seamless, and that all the administrative competencies at work
would perform with excellence.
- Pray for the Lord to "download" His plans, words and thoughts into the hearts
of those putting the various tracks together, that all He desires will be
brought forth. Pray for the leadership of each track that they would hear
clearly the Lord's will and purposes.
- Pray the Lord brings all those whom He desires to be part of this event -
praying against the devices of the enemy and that any planned obstacles will be
thwarted.
- Pray for alignment with the will of God for the NLF to serve as a catalyst for
visible and functional unity in the Church of Greater New York, across the
nation, and around the globe.
- Pray that, operating from the "Capital of the World," the NLF would have
great multi-ethnic and multi-cultural influence in the region sending forth
multitudes of "workers into the harvest field" for the completion of the Great
Commission in our lifetimes.
- Pray for a great Spiritual Awakening to burst forth across the nation as the
"elders" of the Church of America gather in one place to hear from God and
receive our marching orders for His End-Time Army.
Speaking from John 17:20-23 yesterday, Bishop Bailey noted "that individually we
are great but collectively we are weak. Our individual strength gets in the way
of our collective strength." In the months leading up to the National Leadership
Forum we are planning two prayer meetings for pastors, leaders and intercessors
in the region which will also include a time of communion. We must be in one
accord if we are going to make a real difference for His Kingdom.
(City-leaders outside of the GNY are encouraged to similarly prepare by
convening times of prayer for the NLF in your individual city.)
