20.4.2003

8.00 - 8:30 Devotion conducted by Pastor Robert Nabiswa from the book of Act 3:20
8:30 - 10:00 what is intercessory prayer?
Intercessory prayer is holy spirit inpired prayer, and it is the prayer that reaches the very Throne room of God.
How do we pray such a prayer? What words do we use? What is Gods perfect will in the situation? I know for myself there are many times when Iam at a loss for words and I dont know what to pray for so I asked the holy spirit for words to help me, acccording to his word.

Likewise the spirit also helped our infirmities for we  dont know what we should pray for as we ought, but the spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be ulttered.  And he that serches the heart knoweth that is the mind of spirit , because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God (Romans 8.26-27)

There are times when you will feel burden to pray but you wo’nt know what the problem is and dont know what the prayer is for. This is the holy spirit prompting you to pray. When we know that he can depend on you, that you are commited and willing to let go for your own feelings and put the needs of others first, He will surely use you, at these time you will be led to pray in the spirit until the burden is lifted. You may never know who or what you are praying for but be assured that warfare has taken place and somewhere a victory is own.

How do we know the will for God?  Through his word the bible. For instance, we know that it is God’s will to heal, Bishop Wanyonyi told the Pastors prayer net group that I bless the Lord my soul and forget not all his benefits who forgiveth all thine eniquities; who healeth all the diseases (Psalm 103:3-4) The more scripture you will know the will of God. Keep your Bible with you when you pray in it are all the answer to your questions.

Intercessory prayer brings you to the place where you realise you must let go of self and yur own precoceived ideas to allow the holy spirit to have its way in the persons life. When we totally release a person and his situation into Gods hands, we allow God to do what needs to be done.  Sometimes things have to get worse before they can get better.  For instance if you are praying  for someone with alcohol or drug problem to be set free that person might have to reach bottom before he can be free.

21.4.2003 :    OBSTACLES TO PRAYER FROM 8.00 TO 10.30

Even the most mature christians will sometimes feel that their prayers are “hitting the wall” there are several things which can hinder our prayers life.  Such as unconfessed sin or broken relationships. David said in the Psalms 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not here me” .  It is therefore very important to spent quite time with the Lord before we pray and excuse ourselves.  We need to confess any sin in our life that has become a barrier between us and our father.  After we have confessed our sin and repented of it, our fellowship with our father is restored and we can then pray in confidence that he hears us. David went on to say in verse 20, blessed be God who has not turned away my prayers, nor his mercy from me” praise God.

Broken fellowship with others can also hinder our prayers, therefore if thou bring the gift to alter, and there remembered that the brother hath ought against thee, leave there the gift before the alter, and go the way, first be reconciled to the brother and then come and open the gift (matt 5:23-24)

MONEY MATTERS

Accountability for group/church finances.
The other side of worship.

Bishop Stephen Wanyonyi munyolo , accountability in accounting we make historical records for example, I had so much and spent it in the following ways  from here we are able to know our position as far as assets and liabilities are concerned.

Financial management  in the church  or groups , however , involves looking at the bigger picture at hand the level we consider planning , controlling and decide how best it facilitates the acceptable application of financial (or other ) assets in the church /groups.  Prudent accounting  and sound financial management are to be found at the core of good stewardship . which is one of the critical aspects to meaningful worship the lord with your substance .

There are a number of basic consideration in being an effective finance manager in the group .
Agree on the plan and priorities of the organization in advance .
Keep good records of income and expenditure
Keeping good record involves developing in accounting system , no matter how rudimentary!
Finance should be view as supporting then  overall vision of the group.
Members should have regular reports on the groups finance (JN6:11 JN 6:5,6)
