More strategic developments have unfolded related to our meetings next week in
Washington DC. Please read carefully the attached email. Then, we
are asking you to help: PLEASE FORWARD THIS TO YOUR EMAIL CONSTITUENCIES AS SOON
AS POSSIBLE. This will help insure the widest possible participation in
this historic call to prayer from our Congress and the leading evangelical
coalitions in our nation, including our own NPC. THANK YOU!!
David Bryant, Chairman, National
Prayer Committee
Forwarded Message from Ted Haggard, President of NAE:National Day of Prayer
The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE), America's National Prayer
Committee, Mission America, the National Day of Prayer Task Force (Focus on the
Family) and the Nationally Broadcast Concert of Prayer have agreed to respond to
the Congressional Call for a Day of Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer on May 1,
2003 in coordination with the National Day of Prayer activities and the
Nationally Broadcast Concert of Prayer.
Because Congress called America to a day of Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer in
the early stages of the Iraqi War, we have decided to call this day, “The
National Day of Prayer: A Day of Gratitude, Fasting and Prayer.”
Gratitude: We are celebrating the forgiveness and victory
found in a personal relationship with Christ, and we are thanking God for the
minimal loss of life in removing Saddam Hussein from power and for the freedom
the Iraqi people now have to form their own government.
Fasting: In the Scriptures, kings were the leaders who called for a time of
fasting. Today, it is often the priests who call us to fast. Congress functions
as a kind of kingly figure in our culture, so we are joining with congressional
members to ask all Christians to fast one meal on May 1. David humbled himself
through fasting. By fasting one meal on May 1st, we as a nation are
acknowledging that we are powerless and helpless without the grace and mercy of
God.
Prayer: God promises to respond to believers who pray in accordance with the
Scriptures. 1 Timothy 2 charges us to pray for those who are in authority so we
can live a peaceful and quiet life in all godliness and holiness. We are calling
all Christians to pray on May 1 for our leaders and for national issues so that
we all might enjoy His blessings.
Time is short. This is an urgent matter! I will be sending out an NAE News
Release to all religious and secular media outlets. Each of the above partners
is invited to write their own News Release and distribute it as widely as
possible.
Additionally, the Presidential Prayer Team has written a guide for churches and
organizations to use in recognition of the National Day of Prayer. This year’s
guide will be distributed to a large e-mail list with the suggestion that it be
shared with others. The guide and the congressional call can be downloaded from www.presidentialprayerteam.org
and www.worldpreayerteam.org.
The Senate and House bills could both be used as outlines for prayer. All
partners are urged to read those documents and prepare a Christian prayer
response to any and all of the prayer topics that they deem important.
It is important to note our positioning: We, as Christians, are responding to
the congressional call for a Day of Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer. This is an
appeal to all citizens of the United States who believe in Christian prayer.
Other religions may have their own response to the congressional call.
In Christ,
Ted Haggard, President
National Association of Evangelicals

FINAL PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY FOR MAY 1 NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER - Pray for Mrs.
Shirley Dobson, Jim Weidmann and all members of the National Day of Prayer Task
Force as they labor toward the May 1 National Day of Prayer nationwide and
events in Washington, DC., www.ndptf.org . Pray for Bob Baake and all
working with him to complete final details on the May 1st 8-11 PM (EDT)
Nationally Broadcast Concert of Prayer. www.concertofprayer.org.
Give thanks that the broadcast will go out from the Fox, CNN studios that
overlook the White House. Also give thanks that as of this time nearly 150
stadiums across the continent of Africa will be linked together by TV, radio and

Bryant, Juli Kuhl, Dave Butts and Jeff Noell as they prepare for annual National
Prayer Committee meetings in Washington, DC. Please intercede for the

3. NDP BREAKTHROUGH
>From: Natlpray@aol.com
Dear NPCers: Please continue to pray for Bob Bakke and all that is
happening in preparations for the "Nationally Broadcast Concert of
Prayer" on May 1. It is simply amazing. For example, the DC
uplink will come from the studios used by Fox, CNN and others up on top of the
Commerce Building, looking directly over the White House. Also, the entire
NPC in DC will be able to fully participate by closed circuit projection in the
Ballroom at the Shearton Hotel.
Another example of God's provision: As you know there will be an uplink
from the prayer gatherings all across Africa that take place on the very same
day as our National Day of Prayer. As of today, we have NOT just 74
stadiums linked together by TV and radio in prayer (the stat from 2 weeks ago)
but NOW nearly 150 stadiums!! From all over the Continent! Some
stadiums are expecting as many as 90 thousand in attendance! And in Egypt
(where large Christian gatherings are illegal) nearly one million Egyptian
Christians are linked together to pray through the same agenda as the stadium
events will pray throughout the rest of Africa.
I wish there was time to spell out in detail the various components of the three
hour live broadcast, including the very special things that will take place as
we pray over the whole Iraqi situation and for our troops and for Iraqi
citizens, etc.
What a joy for all of us to be together in DC for such a time of miracles and
breakthroughs, not only on the logistical and programmatic side, but much more
in the Heavenlies as a result of all that God does in answer to millions praying
throughout our Hemisphere and across the nations of Africa and beyond.
PLEASE KEEP PRAYING GOD'S FULL PROVISION, WISDOM, PROTECTION and FAVOR WITH
LEADERS--pray this especially for our own BOB BAKKE, the producer for the NBCOP
and for BENNIE MOSTERT who is coordinating this explosions of stadium events in
Africa. Also pray for GREG FLESHING whose crew (FreshAir) is producing the
television side, and for the leaders at MOODY NETWORK who are producing the
radio side. Pray for the uplink sites at Regent University, University of
Texas and the church site in downtown Detroit, plus our site in DC. Pray
for all the technical details and equipment, that everything will be marked by
the Spirit as "Holy Unto The Lord" (as Zechariah said even bells on
horses would one day be, in chapter 14).
KEEP PRAYING AS WELL for Shirley Dobson, Jim Weidmann and the whole NDP Task
Force and for all the ways God will get glory through the gathering on Capitol
Hill plus in nearly 40,000 other NDP sites across America (including on the
Capitol steps in DC late afternoon on May 1). PRAY for the small prayer
gathering planned for in the White House, too. PRAY AS WELL for our vital
meetings on Friday when the NPC sets the new direction we are to move as
together we serve the national prayer movement under our new leadership.
Truly, may "righteousness exalt our nation" as the righteousness of
Christ becomes the joy and passion of a Church fully revived in answer to the
prayers of God's people.
David Bryant PROCLAIM
HOPE!

across the state of CA.
How Prayer Command Post Began BY Lynn Heatly
"God is wonderfully good and faithful to us! I have been involved in
various prayer ministries since 1990. In the late 1980's, the Lord brought me
through renewal in my own life and gave me a burden to see others come into His
presence and to know His voice and ways. I was involved in teaching and prayer
ministry at my own local church in Chino. At that time, I also became involved
in other city-wide prayer efforts and began to see the beauty of the body of
Christ united in love and purpose through efforts like Concerts of Prayer,
National Day of Prayer and various other ministries. I began to communicate with
my church as well as other churches the different prayer events that were
occurring in our region. This led to meeting many other believers who had
similar vision of prayer and unity.
In 1993, the Lord gave me a word: PRAYER COMMAND POST. I knew that it had
something to do with an actual site that was strategic in nature, but that was
all I knew in the beginning. Over the next couple of years, the Lord added to
the word and I began to understand that He was leading me to establish a
ministry that would serve as a headquarter, a "command post" that
would serve all the various ministry streams of prayer. This service included
communications, equipping, networking and other aspects of prayer ministry.
"
Today the vision that the Lord gave Lynn is coming true and Prayer Command Post
is a reality. Lynn will be sharing at Elgin's House of Prayer & Regional
training Center on Tuesday morning, May 13th from 9:00 am - 11:00 am.
"I pray that whatever vision the Lord has placed in your heart, that you
will hang on to what He has told you, that it will come to pass in His timing
and that you will bring Him much glory in the process of fulfilling the vision.
Be encouraged, He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it !
(Philippians 1:6)"
May we know that we are His beloved and serve Him with joy!
Lynn Heatley

Dear Brother Pastors and Leaders,
I do not have to convince you that these strategic times
bring astounding ramifications to bear upon your ministries and mine. We
are experiencing, as Dickens might say, " the best of times and the worst
of times." Our congregations and constituents are asking questions with
deeper context than ever before. A demand for the Rightly Dividing of the word
of God is paramount and the expectation for a practical revelation of wisdom
from on High is the desperate cry of the church.
The visible image of the Church is seen as so divided by
most in the World. I know that you will agree that any schism more rooted in
methods than doctrine should not divide us at all. As long as we are lifting
Jesus up as God reconciling the World unto Himself, there are many ways in which
we should be uniting: Prayer is the most productive way to unite us with The
Father and with each other.
I need your strength in prayer ..I need you along side
of me with other brothers and sisters to intercede for our city and to proclaim
God's Word over our congregations and our Nation. Ps. 133:1 says. "Behold
how pleasant it is for Brethren to dwell together in unity." The strength
of the threefold chord will be maximized over and again if we will commit to
COME TOGETHER.
A call to the lost is terribly weakened if the body
calling them cannot unify.
On May 8th from 7-9pm Pastors and intercessors are
coming from all over our city and bordering cities to join in Corporate Prayer
and Intercession for Hollywood and the greater Los Angeles region at the First
Presbyterian Church of Hollywood on Gower. If for some reason you think that you
are not really needed, you are mistaken.
Let us gather together as members of His ONE BODY and
enter His gates with thanksgiving and go into His courts with praise that we may
be more fitly knitted together than ever before and with a unity that will shake
the very foundations of hell, that the World may see the power of Prayer
united, and know that the refreshing that you and I need will surely come from
the presence on the Lord.
May The Lord Bless you in all your good work for His Kingdom,
Sincerely, Keith J. Brandt, Pastor of the Monroe Street Christian Church,
Hollywood, Ca.

On Sunday April 27, 2003 persons from all 29 Reformed churches in the Zeeland,
Michigan Classis will be worshipping together at the Van Andel Arena in Grand
Rapids, MI. God has made it clear to the leadership that he longs to move
with POWER and called us to repent and come experience him fully and change our
direction. In the past 18 months what started as a spiritual call to one
person, grew to a core team of 20, then 100 ministers and elders coming in
prayer and be anointed with oil. There are now over 300 members in the
choir and many others in supporting roles. Nothing like this has ever been
done in our congregation before and persons are coming from around the country
to share and some to see if they also need to plan a similar experience. Dr.
Henry Blackeby is the featured speaker. We have heard God's call to
repentance and a change of direction.

A Reminder that next Thursday, May 1 is National Day of
Prayer!
And what a time for us all to celebrate and gather together, uniting ourselves
as God’s people to celebrate our God!
There are numbers of gatherings across the metro. If at all possible, join us
for this years rally at the State Capitol 11:30 – 1:00 pm and the youth
“Share the Light” gathering from 1:30 – 2:30 pm also at the Capitol.
We will again be broadcasting live from the studios of KTIS that evening from
6:30 – 9:00 pm. And connecting with the Nationally Broadcast Concert of Prayer
as well as prayer gatherings from across the metro. We will be focusing on this
years theme: “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to
any people.” From Proverbs 14:34. This will be an exiting time.
If your church is planning on connecting to the Nationally Broadcast Concert of
Prayer, please let us know and we can pass the word.
Finally, for more information on events on the National Day of Prayer, go to: www.ndpminnesota.org/
Another word of encouragement – This year we WILL have a proclamation
from the Governor! In talking to his office, this is so important to him, that
Governor Pawlenty is writing it himself! Pray for our Governor.

Please pray for the team from NECP that is going to Washington, DC Apr. 27 –
May 3 to pray at the Capitol and in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer.
We will join Dick Simmons, a prayer leader who lives opposite the Supreme Court.
Why not make everyday a national prayer day? Let us observe
May 1, but let’s not do it once year but every day. As you look over the
suggestions following don’t get overwhelmed. Just familiarize yourself
regularly with them. Then ask the Lord to begin to guide you to apply them. He
will bring these categories as you go about your day. Start your day with a
focus on worshipping the Lord. Open scripture, read through the Bible, and use
the Psalms as your hymnbook. Ask him to remind you during the day of these
categories. If you are at home all day, you can do them all. Put your hand in
the Lord’s hand and he will apply this day by day. See what happens in time as
he leads you.
Here is a concept of prayer that may be of help for every
Christian: understanding your parish. This for lay Christians as well as
pastors. Every Christian has been placed by God in a PARISH. That parish
has boundaries but the boundaries are people. What is our parish? John Wesley
said that the world was his Parish. So that is the outer limits of the Parish.
But we have a starting point: our family, both near and far.
We probably need to pray for them every day, both our immediate family and our
extended family. We can pray them into the Kingdom if they aren’t there
already. Then we can pray for their spiritual growth and protection.
Of course we can pray for our Church daily, starting with the
pastors, and every member. Of course if it is a large church we need to make it
manageable.
But then we can start praying out to the world, beginning with
our neighborhood, those right in our block. Get to know them and pray for them.
Lighthouses of prayer are excellent in this regard. Prayer walk the
neighborhood.
Then we have the workplace. Again, the people we see everyday.
We need to pray for the workers and business we are involved in, for their
salvation and for their needs. In these places God will open opportunities to
use us as ministers and evangelists.
Adopt a business you frequent for prayer: the bank, the
supermarket, wherever you go for business. Even malls are fair game. Don’t let
these prayer opportunities pass you by. The Lord will help you.
For some the school setting is similar to the workplace. The
teachers, fellow students, and administration need prayer. Some students meet
every day to pray for their school. Every Christian can adopt a school because
schools have no prayer. We all live close to different schools. Ask the Lord to
guide you to one and make it your Parish. Then there are the colleges and
graduate schools. Pray for your alma mater or one you might be familiar with.
These places need prayer. There may be ministries in the secondary schools. Pray
for these like Young Life, or Youth Groups or Intervarsity and Campus Crusade.
Pray for the schools.
Secular media is a very Christless place, but God can change
all that. There is a wonderful group called Pray for Hollywood which
targets that group. The internet, newspapers, TV, so much that informs the mind
needs prayer. Make that part of your parish.
The Courts, lawyers, judges, and prison systems are
desperately in need of prayer, as well as the social workers. Let us pray for
these people. And of course the police and firemen could be included here.
Hospitals, doctors and nurses, nursing homes and other medical
workers need prayer, especially Christians in these fields.
The recent conflict in Iraq has reminded us of the desperate
need these high risk people have for prayer. They are in harm’s way, and
therefore need Jesus.
Locally are the mayors, town councils, school boards and a
proliferation of government workers. At the state level are representatives,
governors, and civil servants; at the Federal level are Representatives,
Senators, the President, and also all the Cabinet members, etc. They need
prayer, as well as elections on all levels.
This is obviously only an outline and each area needs special attention. But
with the help of the Holy Spirit we can all prayer our part. We are praying:
"Lord, let your kingdom come and your will be done on earth, in every area
we covered."

how we communicate with God and participate in His works.
Why Pray For Our Nation?
God answers the prayers of His people, and in 2 Chronicles 7:14, He specifically
emphasizes the importance of praying for our nation. Ask the Lord to bring about
spiritual renewal across America. Pray that people will turn to Him and seek His
will for our land.

prayer event will be hosted at Straight Gate Church in Detroit and will be
simulcast from two other locations as well (Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA
and Washington, D.C.). Bob Bakke is the organizer and host for this event, which
has been based out of Washington, D.C. for several years now. The
event will run from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on
radio and television. Fred Hammond will be the musical guest at our
location and five of our local pastors will be called upon to pray during the
evening. Please make your plans to be with us on this very special night.
Directions to Straight Gate Church can be found on their website http://www.straightgate.net/.
In lieu of this awesome prayer event coming to Detroit, Bishop Merrit, pastor of
Straight Gate Church and my husband Eric Moore, pastor of Canton Community
Church, have asked me to coordinate a meeting for the intercessors of this
region so that we can bring prayer around this important event. Mark your
calendars for Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m. at Straight Gate Church. We
are asking the intercessors to come to this critical meeting to discuss the
prayer strategy that we will engage in for the week leading up to May 1. This is
a very important time in the spiritual life of Detroit, and we must step
alongside of our pastors as they unite to work together to see this territory
transformed by the power of God! So I hope you'll make plans to come to
this strategic meeting and be a part of God's praying army in this region and
particularly over this event, which has so much potential for uniting our
churches.
Please feel free to send this email to anyone you know that is engaged in prayer
over our city. We would love to become connected to every prayer saint in
this region, so spread the word!! See you on Thursday, April 24th!
Many blessings, Kim Moore
