  *    A NOTE FROM PASTOR PHIL

These are special days in which we pray - Many NPPNetworkers are "seeking God for the City" as we approach Pal Sunday - Countless others are praying through national or ministry focused initiatives - and doubtless, this is also the most prayer-about war in the history of the world.

You'll find the * *Special Alert directly below especially pertinent as America heads toward battle.

On a personal note, Carol and I leave March 25th for Zambia and will be out of e-touch until our return on April 16th.  Emergency contact necessary? Please contact :
    NPPN Updates <Updates@nppn.org>

Your prayers are welcome: Carol teaches alongside our daughter in a one room, six grades schoolhouse and I will have several preaching and teaching opportunities. Also hoping to meet with Pastors in the NPPN - Zambia!

Hoping to have good reports when I return,

Phil

* *    SPECIAL ALERT
    A CALL FOR NATIONAL PRAYER

>From: "Prayer Transformation Ministries" <PTM@prayertransformation.com>
>At: http://www.prayertransformation.com/

What follows is a call for the Church in America to rise up in these  critical days, to open our doors for prayer and some suggested prayer points put together by Cheryl Sacks and myself in connection with the Christian Emergency Network of Mission America.

My plea is that we not be so lethargic that we miss the window of opportunity in prayer and witness that the Lord is giving us through these circumstances. Decide that you, and your church will “rise to the occasion” and be the voice of hope for the Lord that He calls us to be.

Your servant in Christ,
Steve Loopstra, Executive Director, Prayer Transformation Ministries

As our nation stands on the brink of war with Iraq, the time is NOW for the Church to rise up and take her place. This is a time that calls for humble, resolute leadership on the part of our churches. We have a message of hope for our nation. We have access to the very throne room of God to intercede on behalf of our nation, our president, our leaders, our military, and the people of Iraq. Let us not miss this divine window of opportunity for prayer.

Please give serious and careful heed to this call to prayer. We are encouraging churches across the nation to set aside ongoing specific times of prayer and worship on behalf of our nation. Some churches are opening their doors for prayer from 6- 7 p.m. each evening during the conflict.  Others are scheduling noontime prayer meetings.  Many will build a weekend service around prayer for the nation. Whenever it is, consider opening your church and your meetings to the community. Let us act preemptively in prayer. Don't delay. Rally prayer at your earliest possible time.

In 2 Chronicles 20, as Jehoshaphat was heading toward war in the desert, we read in verse 20: “Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful. After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: Give thanks to the Lord for his love endures forever.”

In response to that prayer and worship, the Lord gave victory to Israel's army. We, the Church in this country have the opportunity to "go before" our troops, and to cover our nation, our cities, and our leaders.

Let us humble ourselves before the Lord and stand in the gap in these critical hours.

As you call your people, your community to prayer, here are some suggestions on how we may agree together.  May the Lord be gracious to us, and have mercy.

            Prayer Points

·       To acknowledge our dependency upon God

·       For the church to rise up with a message of hope

·       To cry out for wisdom for our national and world leaders

·       For protection of our nation's borders and our cities from preemptive strikes and terrorism

·       For protection of American and allied military forces and the lives of innocent people in Iraq

·       For an openness to the Gospel in the Middle East

We would love to expand this prayer and information group. To subscribe send and email to: PTM@prayertransformation.com with the word subscribe-intercessors  in the body of the message. This email group is  for the purpose of prayer and information. Your email address is not supplied to any other group.

1.    REPLY TO NPPN POSTING:
CAN A SMALL CHURCH HAVE A GLOBAL VISION?

>From: Haskin [ldhaskin@ameritech.net ]

Doug,
Our Church is relatively new (beginning our 5th year) and still small.  We currently help support two missionaries; one part-time to Kenya and one full-time to inner City Chicago.   I have found that it adds a new dimension to our prayer, worship and ministry.  As we have accepted the reality that Jesus died for the whole world not just our members, our faith and passion has stretched.  We are still struggling with how to expand our global impact.   Any small Churches doing this, please share.

2.    RESPONDING TO “SATAN WINS”

>From: "Bob Tolliver" <lifeunlimited@pobox.com>

Phil, In reading the "Satan Wins" prayer request which you so mercifully kept anonymous, I was struck by how easy it is to develop an erroneous focus when we're praying.  The remarks were hard for me to read because I felt the writer was fighting a battle he didn't need to fight.

I was reminded of two things:

First, I remembered a statement by Peter Lord in his little Prayer Journal the 29/59 Plan.  "Gaze on the Lord; Glance at your problems."  Good counsel.

Second, I thought of the pattern we use when training prayer walking teams.  It will work in every other prayer situation as well.  We teach them that there are four ingredients to include when praying.
    1.  Worship and Adoration.  The Bible clearly tells us that God inhabits the praises of His people.  So, if there's a battle against the enemy, the quickest and easiest way to run him off without a fight is to fill your heart and mouth with praise and adoration.  Satan hates that, and can't stand to be in such surroundings.

    2.  Blessing.  Speak blessing into every situation and upon every person that is included in your praying.  It makes sense that if Satan tries to curse and condemn a situation, our counter move is to do the opposite.  And, again, when the enemy hears us speaking blessing on a situation, he gets very uncomfortable.  When we fail to speak blessing into a situation, we are making the same mistake the man in the parable did when he kicked out the spirits and swept the house clean . . . . but left it empty.
    3.  Warfare.  There is indeed a place for doing battle against the enemy.  However, it's from a position of submission.  James 4:7 tells us to submit [every circumstance, attitude, condition, etc.]  to the Lord first, and then resist the devil and he will flee.

    4.  Intercession.  Standing in the gap in behalf of the people or situations for which we are praying is far more important than placing all our attention on the devil and his schemes.  People are more important than the devil, but too often we pray as if he is more important.  Besides . . . . when you enter into intercession, the Holy Spirit joins you before the Father's throne in behalf of whatever it is we are praying.

Sometimes we forget that Satan is already defeated; therefore, all he does is judicially illegal.  It took me a long time to learn that truth.  Whereas 35 years ago dealing with demonic bondage was the focus of my ministry, I find today that it doesn't take nearly as much fervor and effort.  I believe the reason is because I more fully understand the complete finished work of Christ, Who "came to destroy the works of the devil".  I think I also more clearly understand the principle of authority we have been given in Christ.  When you understand authority, you realize the battle is the Lord's and not yours, and subsequently your focus is on Him, then on the others, and finally you take a quick glance at the enemy as if to remind him he's out of line and he's already a loser.

Thanks again for your ministry. In His Bond, Bob

4.    ROUNDTABLE ON RACE

>From: "Seymour, James" <JSeymour@st-aug.edu>

We did have a wonderful Roundtable on Race, Thursday the 6th at Meredith College.  We had around 50 ministers in attendance.  We began with some wonderful worship music led by Tim and Laura Suave, who travel doing seminars on worship so they are truly excellent.

We had brief reports from five different groups of clergy that are actively involved in joining their churches and their hearts in reconciliation ministry.  One on one friendships are being cultivated, dinner in each others homes, wives building relationships etc.

We also had a wonderful time of facilitation by Dr. Norman Peart, author of the book "Separate No More" and adjunct professor at UNC in Sociology and at Southeastern Baptist Seminary.  He also pastors an interracial church in Cary, NC called Grace Bible Fellowship.  His facilitation was based on the information found in the book "Divided By Faith" written by authors Emerson and Smith on the topic of "Evangelical religion and the problem of Race in America."  Norm did a great job of giving an overview of there findings and good interaction around the tables took place and then a reporting back to the group as a whole.

The final presenter was James White, a staff member for 16 years with Campus Crusade for Christ, and now director of the Job's Partnership Institute.  James is a dynamic speaker and he challenged the clergy on the concept that "before there can be reconciliation there must be repentance."  James speaks on the topic of reconciliation around the country and either he or Dr. Peart would be of value to you in any context.  Both are African American brethren with strong Biblical world views and a passion for racial healing in the community and the church.

Sincerely, Dr. James J. Seymour

6.    FORT WAYNE, IN:
THE POWER OF UNITED, PERSISTENT PRAYER

>From: PastorsInPrayer@aol.com

JOURNAL ENTRY~August 1982-(Beginning of effort to close four hard core porn outlets-one in the same block as the Broadway Church.  Seven years of weekly prayer preceded this date. Strong civic, neighborhood, legal, church backing.  172 religious leaders representing
44 denominations and 2,000 individuals committed to picketing over two and one half years, Small groups at each location, six days a week-calling for vigorous enforcement of Indiana Obscenity Law.)

Early this week I met with the Bishop of the Ft. Wayne-South Bend Diocese.  He reminded me to be zealous but not a zealot.  When I asked him the difference, he explained, " A zealot has an unattainable goal. Be zealous if your goal is within reach."  When he learned that our single goal was to call for the enforcement of the Indiana Law, prohibiting display or distribution of obscene materials, he agreed to lend the support of his diocese.  Already, many from the Catholic community are on the picket line with believers from other denominations.

Oh, what price this standing against the evils of porn and prostitution?  A sign just appeared on a local theater box office, naming me as the organizer of picketing and the church I serve as the one behind it.  It further announced a picketing effort at 910 Broadway (our church address) from 9-11 Sunday morning. The ones putting up the signs (many more appeared) have no idea how large this opposition really is.
- - - - - - -
REFLECTION~January 23, 2003-The battle against porn in Ft Wayne, IN resulted in a court order closing three of the four porn outlets.  Picketing lasted through two northern Indiana winters, summers, spring and fall.  The church in the city gathered on street corners to pray and exercise their first amendment rights that of peaceful assembly and freedom of speech.  Ultimately, due to a prosecuting attorney who carried out his election promise, the case went all the way to the US Supreme Court where the lower court decision held.  It was the first time Civil Rico was used in the nation to battle successfully against porn outlets, run by organized crime.

Did this action wipe out porn?  Of course not.  Did the church in the city grow stronger with the united prayer and persistent stand against this evil?  Yes!  As Bishop McManus pointed out, when men and women are zealous for a cause that is realistic with a reachable goal, there can be success.  In Jesus' day the "zealots" left Him for a cause that would end in disaster.  True, He went to His death, but the Kingdom of God grew like the mustard seed in His story.  His resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father give us today a reigning King  who promises to return and right every wrong, heal every broken heart and establish His Kingdom for eternity.

"And let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary." ( Gal. 6:9-NASB)

7.    ILLINOIS NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER UPDATE

>From: CGDunne@aol.com

Praising God that He is beginning to identify County Coordinators for the National Day of Prayer in IL. We have about a tithe of the 102 counties accounted for. Please continue to pray for more County Coordinators with a heart for bringing the Body of Christ together to pray in Unity.  The National Day of Prayer is May 1, the first thursday of May.  IF you hear of any events happening in your area, please let me know.  We are planning a prayer event in Grant Park for that day at noon.  We will have no microphone or program...just prayer stations set up. Please come join us if you can...send your friends who work downtown. We will gather at millennium park from 11:30 a.m. till God releases us. People will come and go as they need to get back to work, but we will continue to pray as long as some people stay. Pray even today for good weather, that we not be rained out.

God seems to be speaking something about Counties in IL. The Lydia Fellowship sent out a letter to their membership asking them to adopt a county and pray for it. The IL Strategic Prayer Network continues to pray for certain counties each week.  I am asking for County Coordinators for NDP.  Let's join the effort and ask God to bring his assigned people forward to organize prayer in every county in IL.

Continue to pray for the Educators Prayer Summit to be held on Casimir Pulaski day, March 3.  Pray for the facilitators and for those attending. Pray that nothing would hamper folks from coming. Pray for clear communication so others will plan to come.

The Chicagoland Prayer Summit is being held in May this year. We are looking for intercessors to join in praying for the summit both onsite and offsite. Pray even now that God would begin to move the hearts of Pastors and Ministry Leaders to attend. Pray for schedules that will allow them take three day to go sit before the Lord. Pray for them to see the urgency and need for prayer.  tell YOUR pastor about the summit and invite him/her to come.  The dates are May 5,6,7  and it will be held at Cedar Lake Indiana...It is a truly blessed time. For more  info on the Summit see the website at praychicago.net <www.praychicago.net

Susanne and I leave next week to do the Prayer Summit in Washington DC. pray for a total dependence on the Holy Spirit. Pray that hearts will be prepared and that God will meet us while we are there. Pray that distractions be cut off and any other way God leads you. If He gives you a word about the summit I would love to hear from you.

An effort is underway in California to call out to God for revival...they will be meeting at the Rose Bowl on the 22nd of this month....they will be asking people to join a 40 day fast as led by God, a Jesus fast of WATER only.....to get all the details you can go to their website THE CALL <www.thecallrevolution.com

Bless you one and all...we will keep in touch, you do the same. If  you have any prayer requests, send them to me and anyone who has updates we appreciate those too.

8.    THREE FAQ’s ...

>From: "Tony Danhelka" <tony@lightfirst.com>

Brief Explanation of the Mission America Coalition:

The Mission America Coalition is an unprecedented cooperative effort of some 500 national Christian leaders who have prayerfully come together to help unite Christians for prayer, evangelism and revival. Honorary co-chairs of the Coalition are Dr. Bill Bright (Campus Crusade for Christ), Dr. Billy Graham (Billy Graham Evangelistic Association) and Dr. John Perkins (Christian Community Development Association).

Comprised of the leaders of 80-plus denominations and over 350 Christian ministries, MAC calls for active participation in The Great Commission to "go into all the world and preach the Gospel, making disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28:19) and The Great Commandment "Love the Lord your God and . . . Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:37,39).

Brief Explanation of the City Impact Round Tables:

The City Impact Round tables (CIR) have developed out of Mission America meetings. Christian transformational leaders from cities across the nation have gathered twice a year for the purpose of building relationships, sharing kingdom-sized vision for holistic evangelism and revival, and praying together for united ministry throughout the Body of Christ. They have met in the Roundtable format so that participants might also be contributors to the "city-reaching" process in their area. CIR has had national meetings where 50 or more cities have been represented and also sponsors regional gatherings for further implementation in local areas. In the spring of 2002 six "working teams" were developed: 1. Social Action 2. Expanding the Table 3. Prayer 4. Measurements & Outcomes 5. Theology & Definition 6. Younger Generations (nonfunctioning to date). These Working Teams meet monthly by conference phone calls to identify the related issues and develop the latest data available on their topic of interest. The teams give reports twice a year at national and regional meetings.

Brief Explanation of the National leadership Forum in New York (October 5-8, 2003):

The theme is "The Gospel in the City" Sharing Christ in Word and Deed. The leadership team is calling it a "Mission America Coalition's National Leadership Forum" It is being designed in collaboration with the New York Coalition of Ministries and Churches throughout New York City.

The strategic framework for the National Leadership Forum, "The Gospel in the City," is city movements, which God has been raising up for the past fifteen years across our nation. The vision for this gathering is to serve as a creative forum in which leadership teams can be formed and existing leadership teams can be strengthened to serve city movements across the nation. This forum is for the equipping of teams of leaders (up to ten or more from each city) with the aim of returning to their cities with new resources to aid them in forming and re-forming around a long term plan for sharing Christ in word and deed in every sector of their city, transforming the lives of individuals and institutions for real Kingdom growth. The National Leadership Forum will have three major components: 1. Plenary sessions, 2. Tracks and 3. Integrative Round Tables.

The Church has many organizers, but few agonizers;
many who pay, but few who pray, many resters, but few wrestlers;
many who are enterprising, but few who are interceding.
People who are not praying are playing.
Two prerequisites of dynamic Christian living are vision and passion,
both of these are generated by prayer.
The ministry of preaching is open to every child of God.
The secret of praying is praying in secret.
A worldly Christian will stop praying;
a praying Christian will stop worldliness...
Tithes may build the church, but tears will give it life.
That is the difference between the modern church and the early church.
Our emphasis is on paying, theirs was on praying.
When we have paid, the place is taken.
When they had prayed, the place was shaken (Acts 4:31).
In the matter of effective praying, never have so many left so much to so few.
Brethren, let us pray.

INVITATION

All area Pastors, Intercessors, and ministry leaders are invited to attend the monthly Citywide Prayer Breakfast. The purpose of this inter-Church and inter-denominational gathering is to unite the Body of Christ in Austin and surrounding areas for strategic prayers  warfare for city awakening, transformation and Revival. Agape Christian Ministries shall serve breakfast, at 7:00 AM on Saturday morning.

THE NEW WINE SKIN

The Church is undergoing a major and one of the greatest reformations in history. Prophephies are being fulfilled in our own eyes. We are in a war, not just bows and arrows, but the greatest battle for His kingdom to come upon our Cities. Woe to him asleep in the midst of battle!

God I ripping off the old wine skin of religion, division and selfishness in the Church. God is commanding in His blessing with couture of unity. CITY CHURCHES are emerging. There is a paradigm shift.  We better shift or God will shift us! Our standard of what it means to be a believer must rise. A Texas size revival is coming! It’s not about us; it’s about Him. Those who want to lead must stoop down and serve.

It’s good to take inventory. Yes, to judge every prophecy weather they are of God. For most of you who have been following the events in the greater Austin area and Central Texas, you can recollect that God has used uncountable ways to confirm dozens of Prophetic words He has spoken over this region.

As a reminder, God has revealed and spoken the following through our citywide meetings:

1.  There’s going to be an out break of God in this region in an unprecedented manner.

2.  Baptist Church and the Hispanic will play important roles (not a Hispanic or Baptist revival). On Feb.2, 2002, during our first meeting I gave a word of the LORD that “… as soon as Apostolic leadership connects with intercession, His rain will cover this whole region as the waters cover the sea. I see a mighty sweeping revival that starts from Central Texas heading towards Mexico, touching cities, the high ways and the byways”.

3.  Visions of several road-blocks in Austin and Police leaving there assignments to control the traffic of people flooding into Austin area because of God’s outbreak of revival in the Land.

4.  God transferring the Title Deed of the Land to His body, this recent.

5.  Suddenness of what is about to happen will take many by surprise

6.  The revival coming from an angle and vessels no one expects it– not a charistimatic nor Pentecostal, Baptist or any of the revival we are use to, but God-revival.

7.  Did you remember the prophetic words that came during Rally Call Conference in July 2002 about the sign of hail over Texas as a sign of shift in the ‘heavenlies’/Powers over the land?

8.  The Church walking out of the wilderness and God giving the Body of Christ victory over the Gates of the land. Dear City lovers, time and space will fail me to outline uncountable sounds of rain we hear and ‘clouds like the hand of a man’ we see rising up to the heaven; the altering of the spiritual DNA of our cites, the unity of Pastors and intercessors from dozens of Churches coming to pray for revival and the five fold ministry leader taking their places in the heaven.

HE, WHO HAS EARS, LET HIM HEAR WHAT THE SPIRIT SAYS TO THE CHURCH!
Send the word out. Make time to be there.

Attendees are encouraged to fast on the Friday, April 4. Step out of the boat and join with us in this united prayer for revival and transformation in the land.

NB: ALL DAY citywide prayer and Worship continues till noon at the same venue.
