We are making the following appeal as a partner with Phil Miglioratti and the
National Pastors’ Prayer Network:
Often we are asked for model mission statements, vision statements, and
statements of faith. So we are asking Pastors’ Prayer Groups and city
facilitators to send us their statements. We will compile them and make the
collection available to others as requested.
Please e-mail pdoze@cityrestoration.org or phil@nppn.org or mail to
City Restoration Ministries, PO Box 193, Hudsonville, MI 49426
or
National Pastors’ Prayer Network, 1130 Randville Drive 1D, Palatine, IL 60074
Thanks for helping new Pastors’ Prayer Groups and existing groups to sharpen
their focus.

Dear Pastor Phil,
Your report from New York was a blessing. I joined a team of 16 pastors on
Sept. 23rd from the Western part of the U.S. We were with some 90
Evangelical Pastor from New York at Dr. Benard's church where they were
discussing what to do as a response to 9/11, of course this was almost two weeks
to the day from the attack. One dear brother and pastor stood at the end
of the meeting and shared his heart with the others. He said,
"Brothers, whatever we decide to do, count me and our church in, but I must
share my heart with you. I believe that in the moment of our cities great
hour of need, we the Evangelical Church so far have been largely irrelevant and
mostly unknown to our city and it's leaders. They did not invite us to sit
at Yankee Stadium to pray, because they don't know us, and because we have not
helped them to know who we are, for we do not speak with one voice."
Of course my quotation is not a verbatim, but it is close for I will never
forget that moment. What courage and humility! The room was filled
with agreement and a desire to come together and be ONE body in Christ. I
am so glad you sensed in your recent trip that the Body is working as a unit!
I believe that day at Dr. Benard's church is a day that will be recorded
in heaven as a benchmark in fulfilling Jn. 17:20
Blessings - Standing Together, Pastor Greg Johnson

We are writing to invite you to participate with a select group of
national leaders and practitioners in a roundtable consultation on City
Transformation in the US and Canada April 10-12, 2002 in Atlanta, GA. This
gathering has become known as the City Impact Roundtable (CIR). Last year the
CIR convened two meetings of leaders to both learn from and share strategy and
theory. Our last meetings in Atlanta and Orlando, FL led us to the establishment
and continuation of four working groups in the areas of Diversity, City
Transformation Processes, Technology, and Prayer.
The decision was made to meet over three days to gain more working time. We are
desirous of sharing our findings with you as well as exploring new ways of
collaborating to accelerate and sustain transformational city ministry.
We are convening this gathering, desiring the following outcomes:
· Create a widening prayer base, both corporately and
personally, for city impact.
· Dialog about accelerating city impact by sharing common
vision and understanding competing agendas.
· Hear reports from the present working groups.
· Continue pursuing the question "If we could plan the
next 10 years, what would we do to accelerate city impact/transformation?"
· Report on active cities and their process and progress.
The meeting will be held in Atlanta at Simpsonwood Conference Center, April
10-12, 2002. We will begin our roundtable on Wednesday, April 10th, with lunch
at 11:30 a.m. and end promptly on Friday after lunch.

Think of it: Israel's greatest heroes, from Joshua to the Judges, had tried and
failed to conquer the Jebusites. Thus, the Jebusites were contemptuous when they
heard of David's plan to possess their chief city, Jebus (Jerusalem). They
mocked Israel's young king, saying, "You shall not come in here, but the
blind and lame shall turn you away'' (2 Sam 5:6).
There are two lessons here. First, for everyone who desires to see the awesome
promises of God fulfilled, God is saying to us all: DON'T BE CONDITIONED BY THE
PAST! Just because you haven't seen the manifest power from God in your church
or city, God can change everything over night.
The second lesson is this: It probably will not be the devil himself who comes
out to defeat you; rather, we must be guarded against the misguided advice of
unbelieving Christians. Remember, the taunt of the Jebusites was that the
"blind and lame" would turn away Israel. We may indeed stand firm in
faith against the spiritual hosts of wickedness, but our real enemy might not be
principalities and powers themselves, but the "blind and lame" who are
sitting in church next to us.
Who are the blind? Simply, they are those who do not see the vision you see;
they are "blind" to the faith-future God has put in your heart. We
cannot let people who do not see our vision become our counselors. Beware of
becoming sympathetic toward the spiritually "blind." A little leaven
of their unbelief can undermine your faith in a time of battle.
Who are the spiritually lame that can stop us? These are those who have stumbled
over something (or someone) in the past. They are people who no longer walk
stride by stride with Christ. Beware of sharing your dreams with cynics. If we
heed the "warnings" of the "lame," it will only be a matter
of time before their woundedness and lack of grace depletes our strength; we too
will become overly cautious and suspicious.
Although we definitely need counsel from other Christians, and we certainly must
remain forgiving and kind toward those in opposition, we cannot allow the words
of the spiritually blind and the lame to become our counselors.
Of course, in our world, our real enemies are spiritual forces of evil
influencing our communities. And, let us remember, if we are suffering
from being lame or blind, Jesus can heal us. But the fact is, Satan has watched
the failures of many Christians before us. One can sense the devil's scorn as
pastors and intercessors pray for citywide revival. The devil's taunts are not
without substance for, generally speaking, our spiritual forebears did not
succeed in dislodging the strongholds of wickedness from their cities. History
is indeed on the adversary's side.
Let's pray: “Lord, you have promised that nations shall come to our light.
Forgive us for wavering in unbelief! We believe that You have prepared us for
great things. We trust that, in our lives we will follow Your promise and
dislodge our enemies...”

Prayer Driven Ministries is now entering its eighth year of ministry and
PrayerNeeds.Org is entering its third. How exciting! We would like to
undertake a massive event late this year (perhaps in August). For a couple
of years now we have wanted to prayerwalk our community and our county as a
ministry to our local community. We attempted this the first year we were
here in Buena Park. It, however, was not as successful as we had
envisioned because we did it on short notice and many of the local churches did
not participate.
This year we would like things to be somewhat different. We would like to
plan the event carefully and involve as many of the area churches as possible.
Within a few years we would like to see this event encompass much of North
Orange County and South Los Angeles County.
Please approach your congregation about this idea and consider how your church
can be involved in this project. We would like to have a planning meeting
as soon as possible (within the next three weeks, if we can arrange to do so).
Please call me as soon as is possible: 714-521-8362. At this first
planning meeting we will consider a date, a program, a process, a budget,
further planning and promotion of this event. We would like to see this
become an annual event that will grow each year to encompass more participants
and more geographical area in Orange and Los Angeles Counties each year.
If you have other contacts or know other churches in the area that may want this
information, please, by all means, forward this e-mail to them!

I'm Rob Edwards, and I've been facilitating the organization of Northside
Community Ministries, linking about a dozen churches from about 7 denominations
and across racial lines on the north side of Norfolk, Virginia.
I am attaching the various statements that they have drafted per your request.
They have also adopted articles of incorporation, bylaws and a
constitution for their board of directors. They have applied for a corporate
charter, and are in the process of applying for 501(c)3 status.
Facilitating the writing of these statements was the most incredible thing I've

A Word from Dennis Fuqua - Director of IRM
Right from the Damascus road, one of Saul's desires was
to know what the Lord wanted him to do. (Acts 22:10) In fact, one of
the most common questions pastors receive is something related to, "How do
I know God's will?" I believe this question is one of the earliest
evidences that we really are submitted to the Lord. One of the clearest
answers to that question involves what God says in His Word. When He gives
us a commandment, we don't need to wonder about His will. That is why when
it comes to walking in unity with the other members in the body of Christ, we
don't have to wonder what God's will is. We are not only encouraged to
walk
in unity, we are told to. It is part of the "worthy walk"
commanded in Ephesians 4:1-3. There we are told that walking worthy of our
calling includes humility, gentleness, patience, bearing with one another in
love and making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of
peace.
So if we want to do God's will, we will maintain that
unity in His Body which the Spirit of God has established. In this passage
it is not up to us to establish or make the unity; Jesus has already done that.
Our part is to maintain or keep the unity. This is one time when are
supposed to be in a "maintenance mode." We are supposed to do
the 30,000 mile maintenance, the annual maintenance, and even the daily
maintenance. Why are we committed to walking with the other members of His body?
Very simply, because it is His will.

The 5th Annual Pastors' Prayer Summit
Seven Hours That Could Change Our City
On March 1, 2002 at Houston's First Baptist Church
pastors and ministry leaders from across the city will gather for The 5th Annual
Pastors' Prayer Summit. The purpose of the gathering is to bring pastors
together for a concentrated time of focused and informed intercession for the
city. There will be times of prayer that focuses on specific sectors of the city
with short testimonies from several key leaders that will inform, inspire, and
call participants to prayer.
In the past, Prayer Summits have resulted in a growing
unity among the pastoral community, a heightened awareness of how overwhelmingly
lost our city is, and a deepened understanding of the absolute necessity that we
work together to see the Kingdom advanced.
There will be a continental breakfast provided free of
charge, and lunch will be available for purchase on site. Late registration and
check-in will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. but If you plan to attend
please take a moment and register through the Mission Houston website at
<http://www.missionhouston.org>

View the Citywide Briefing brochure that is in the mail to several thousand
Pastors:
http://www.praychicago.net/ocg/OneGreatCity.htm
Our second follow-up meeting to the One Great City Roundtable took a strong step
forward.
.Our purpose is to serve the Body of Christ
.Throughout both city and suburbs
.In comprehensive diversity
.By communicating & connecting; inviting &
involving...
.Toward a city-transforming ministry
-Prayed for a Christ-awakening in Chicago's
neighborhoods and suburbs
-Worked in three task groups; look for the notes on our
website:
http://www.praychicago.net/
-Sensed a Holy Spirit momentum...
Our next meeting will be very different because it has several special goals:
1. Find many more like-minded Pastors and Leaders!
2. Cast our vision for One Great City
3. Involve them in our process of worship (prayer),
relationship, partnership
Tuesday, March 5th, 10am-Noon
Location: Judson Baptist Church in Oak Park
Will feature
A coffee-break (informal
conversations and connections)
Prayer for the City (passionate
intercession for a Christ-awakening)
Citywide Briefing (introducing
several opportunities and initiatives
As I mentioned at the most recent meeting ... Funds have been made available to
me to introduce the 9/11 Remembrance initiative to Chicago area Pastors.
This funding will allow us to send invitations to several thousand
churches throughout our region. While the 9/11 initiative must be a center
piece of the March 5th program, it will enable us to share the complete OGC
vision.
This is a divine, catalytic, synergistic opportunity!
We must all:
>Begin to pray for March 5th (What would happen if
150 pastors and Ministry Leaders, 200, even more! responded to the invitation?).
I am asking the Lord to give you a specific prayer assignment!
>Invite ministry colleagues and those in our network
(One Great City is a grassroots effort; we are not nor will we become a
"headquarters" organization. If you and I do not do the inviting and
involving, then it OGC will die a very young death). I am asking the Lord to
give you a specific person to invite!
On March 5th
:Each OGC member has the opportunity to let participants
know how their ministry can serve them. Let me know if you want to
distribute (flyers or brochures) or display (resources).
Then What?
Since we've agreed it is vital we "pray-out"
God's strategy for the future of One Great City, we are challenging one another
to participate in the 7th (or is it the 8th?) Annual Chicagoland Prayer Summit.
Save April 15-17 (Monday – Wednesday) for an extended
time of seeking the face of God.
A OGC Strategy Summit will follow on Thursday morning;
please plan to stay the extra time to help us debrief and discern what the
Spirit has said for our future together.
What About?
A 2nd Annual OGC Roundtable, like the one that kicked
everything off?
A Dream Team or Servant Leadership Team to guide One
Great City?
Additional Citywide Briefings? A City-Reaching
Conference?
Several have shared these and other good ideas. Reread the previous section.
Come to the Prayer Summit. Stay for the Strategy Summit. NO planning or major
decision-making until then.
Now is the time.
We're being led by His Spirit.
Let's go!
